The Camaro has been the best muscle car made since 2010. I grew up a die hard Mustang fan too. It handles the best and the 6.2 is more reliable than the Coyote 5.0. The manual transmission is better in the Camaro than the MT82 in the Mustang. The Tremec is obviously best in all muscle cars and that's why the Dodge Challenger 5.7 hemi is the most reliable overall, but too heavy and slow and handles poorly.

Really thought the M3 would give it a challenge but damn, was not expecting the domination from the ZL1!

Look, put the zl1 up against a m3 comp xDrive and it will lose a drag race despite the major hp advantage. Plus, the drag race performance (for the money) is higher with a m3 comp xDrive. You can run mid 9’s on a stock motor, stock tires, stock turbos, with just a tune. Yeah that’s right. We have 9.8’s now with just a jb4 no flash tune. The zl1 can’t do that despite having a huge engine.

Put drag radials on the ZL1 and they run 10.9's. With just a trans tune, they knock off another few 10ths. Engine tune puts em solidly in the mid 10's. A pulley change which is the same as more boost on the BMW and they run high 9's as well.

Chevy still makes some of the best sounding V8’s. Theres something raspy and raw about them along with that guttered sound that really gets my fancy bits tingled 😊

That’s ZL1 is a beast! I love both cars though lol.

A Racechip is not a dyno tune. It’s a piggyback module that modifies peak boost (psi). These mods only show minor potential at the top end of the power band. A tuned M3 vs a Race Chip is leagues different in power and performance. His ECU is locked on the BMW and why he chose the race chip, it’s expensive to unlock and fully tune the car. However let’s make sure everyone knows it’s not a dyno tuned M3 or the results would be very different.

Can confirm what Sam says about the ZL1, I just own a 6-speed ZL1 since 3 years and this car is awesome! It´s not just the brutal sound, also the way it feels and drives makes it a real muslce car for me. Never thought to own one of these masterpieces but that car just contains what I was searching for. Roughness, coolness and performance. Had the chance to buy either a blue ZL1 with 10speed auto or a silver ZL1 with a 6-speed and selected manual as german petrol head!

@@yousef.al-assafGM really has made a masterpiece with the Alpha and now Alpha 2 chassis, pros like Randy Pobst and Motortrend, R&T, C&D, etc all love it and compare to to how M3s used to feel, they don’t really like the handling characteristics of newer Ms.

You can get a zl1 for 70k and a m3 will run you 100k . Maro will always win ....... if you want luxury ... that's the only advantage you'll get paying an extra 30k 🤭🤭

ZL1 is a beast but I guess they kept it fair with the manual and rwd. But the s58, downpipe and etuned is a beast...xdrive zf8 s58 is in the 9s.

M’s are awesome but the ZL1 is a different animal man and that’s not even with the A10…….

There are no more Dealer 6th Gen. ordering alloacations left for ZL1's. Production ends in Dec. There about 25 headed too Dealers some being sold orders. That's it, over, the end. If you want a (ZL1) better do it yesterday.

Before anyone asks why an XXX HP car is being compared to an XXX-100~ HP car, he mentions it in the video, cost of each. The question people should be asking is does BMW make something with similar performance at a competitive price? You can tout BMW's interior, or the badge, or the poor visibility of the Camaro (not really an issue after a few drives), but you can't deny the performance per dollar. Thanks for the vid, Sam!

I believe the g80 m3/m4 normal and especially competition pack is definitely overpriced. After options you’re looking at $95-100k. That is ridiculous and I’m a person that have owned and own high end performance cars. A 2022 f90 m5 cp can be have cheaper. If i pay $100k for a performance car it better be able to run low 11’s. I just hate how bmw fans brag about the g80 platform like it’s a cheap car.

@@talkditingsdem5799Everything is overpriced these days. And the G80 M3CX does run bottom 11s stock. Some have even done high 10’s bone stock. Not sure who is claiming that they’re cheap. ZL1 is awesome but these aren’t cars that are likely cross-shopped. Very different missions. M3 with a proper tune and downpipe is deep into the 10’s.

@@jad4ca Just remember that tune and FBOs can also be added to the ZL1. Personally though, I think that the ZL1 has plenty of power. For me the problem I have is putting the power down. Sad to see that these types of cars are slowly becoming extinct. EVs are just slowly going to replace these types of cars as it's definitely going to be hard to contend with instant torque off the line.

@@robpr315 Yep, agreed. Having owned a 2nd gen CTS-V with the LSA, I know how stout GM supercharged V8s are, but as you said, the problem becomes available traction. Here’s to hoping that the rise of EVs doesn’t doom all of the ICE fun.

G80/G82 is mostly for people who think they can drive fast but they actually suck at driving and only know straight-line acceleration. ZL1 is for people who know how to take on corners.

It would be cool if there was more communication, and what went on during the run, between cars. Other than that. Fun drive sam.

That ZL1 really puts the power down! Even with the Tune the M3 didn't stand a chance.

I just raced a modified 2023 ZL1 with with my 2023 M4(DP/tune)… the M4 has much more top end

Im on my 4th 6th gen Zl1. Have had 2 2ss as well, a 10 speed 5.0, and a 8 speed hellcat. Zl1 is a monster in a straight line and around a corner. For the money it is unbelievable. The manual is fast but starts to hit the dead end after 4th gear but the auto just keeps pulling and pulling. I love my Zl1s ❤

As a refined daily, certainly the M3 is compelling. But let’s be honest, while it would look ridiculous driving the ZL1 to a business conference, it’s by far the better car dynamically, and that engine note is just on a different level than the inline 6.

ZL1 is one of my top 5 favorite cars . M3 is probably one of them as well and the M3 hp is probably 50 to 60 hp underrated in my opinion at stock form . M3 probably making 530 hp stock

There was a rwd/drift mode test By a tire review channel. The M5 Runs low 4s in drift mode. It does Not have launch control in that mode

Given it’s a 6 speed manual but a brand new 2023 Camaro ZL1 (6.2 supercharged) post up the same time as a 2012 C63 AMG P31 (6.2 NA). Yes, W204 C63 AMGs are monsters.

ZL1 is option code for "track package" - every ZL1 is a track version!

i watched another vid of m3 g80 stock rwd it took 12.21 sec 1/4 a mile but this m3 Dinan tuned took 12.25 sec, pls somebody tell me this is not Fishy

It's not always the car sometimes the driver is just bad. 12.5s 1/4 miles for the M3 is slower than the M340i. A good driver and Manuel m3 would have get under 12s 1/4 miles and plus automatic 1s quicker than the Camaro.

BMW´s Manual Transm. are not the best in the World and thats why the most people buy it with the really good and fast shifting ZF Autom. Transm..

I have a 2022 Zl1 10 speed auto with 2200 kilometers and i love it .Might be selling to get a 911 turbo s porsche which is my favorite car.

87k? The standard ZL1 is 73 for a 2024 and it was like 70 in 2023. Is he talking Canadian? That car doesn't have the 1LE package so I'm confused about the price here. Dealers aren't marking ZL1's over MSRP anymore just the ZL1 1LEs... if you can find one.@@SamCarLegion
