    I had watched many disappointing reviews on the GSXS 1000GT, but I kept considering it, I knew the reviewers just kept copying one another because they all complain about the same things e.g. the front break.. Blah.. However, when I came across your review I really liked what I saw, it was what I needed to see. Your review helped me reach a decision and I finally purchased one...... and well, I am here to Thank You for your EXCELLENT review on this AWESOME Machine. I have done about 800 miles on it so far and I think it is fair to say that the GSXS truly exceeded my expectations.

    I took delivery of mine yesterday. Prior to this, I owned a GSX-R1000, and he's absolutely right: It's mostly a more comfortable version of the GSX-R. I am limited to 5500RPM for now, so I really couldn't evaluate it's pulling power. (Mine had 1 mile on it and I will adhere to the manufacturer's recommended break in limits.) That being said, you can tell the power is there. And just about every review I have watched/read comments on the engine's smoothness. Very true. One thing I would disagree with is that it's an inexpensive "grand touring bike". Again I'd call it a much more comfortable GSX-R which I like because as this review noted, the power and performance of the K5 is definitely there but you could go several hours without a problem. Amazing bike.

    I have one with around 1700 miles on it. Last bike was a Yamaha Tracer 900. So both are in the Sports Touring family. I love the looks of the Suzuki over the Yamaha. The Suzuki sits lower and weight distribution is better. The seat is more comfortable. The foot peg is higher than the Yamaha which I initially did not like but soon came to love because the lower peg position of the Yamaha was causing the seat edge to bother the inside of my legs on longer trips. Handling the Suzuki feels more controlled where the Yamaha is so agile it feels like you could sneeze in a corner and dump it. The Yamaha seemed twitchy enough to be an off-road bike but the Suzuki moves into where you want it and feels solid. On the same corners the Yamaha would need to be laid over more. Suzuki's quick shifter is amazing. Its headlights are lensed so low beam does a horizontal beam that extends past the edges of the road. In my opinion gets drivers attention better than the Yamaha. High beam does a generous path down road center. Brakes are not racing brakes. You will not get instant grab like the Yamaha, however they seem perfect for traffic conditions and two-up riding because as you pull it engages in perfect progressive braking. Power wise it is amazing. This bike is heavy on the Sport with a dash of Touring. Handle bar position is very slightly forward. The Yamaha was true neutral and I found I could get complacent and not be ready for its torquey nature. The Suzuki with the slight lean forward has you prepared at all times for its ample power. Things I do not like: 1) I have the Sparkle Black and find the tank paint weak, thin, and easily scratched. Tank pads all around need to be added. 2) The fixed windscreen is okay for summer but you will need other screens for various conditions. This should have been adjustable. I will probably cut a slight v shape in the stock screen to make a dedicated summer choice and buy an after market taller cold weather one. All in all I love this bike and think it beats out the Tracer for sure. I highly recommend this bike.

    Fwiw, I have the 2022 tracer 9 gt, and I'm not sure if it's much different from the tracer 900, but I don't have any of the complaints you laid out. Plus, the quick shifter is probably the best I've used.

    @Occam’s Razor Hey, not sure how to put a picture on here. However I bought a WRS Smoked Screen for the GT. I still got a little more wind than I wanted for long touring so I bought longer stainless steel bolts for the top 2 windscreen mounts and put a stack of small washers under each to pitch it up a hair more. It worked pretty good but I am going to make another adjustment and see how that does. I have 5k miles on the GT atm. I have not done the stock screen V cut for summer yet. I did that on the Tracer and had 9k miles on it. The V cut makes a nice wind cushion for the helmet to sit in. I left the stock screen corners at height and put the V from those down 1/3 the screen then spray painted the inside of the screen black. Makes for a more connected to the elements feel but you also catch every bug on your helmet.

    @@derp195 Well I want to start off by saying that the tracer is an amazing bike and I loved my time with it. I had 9k miles in a year and half. Sub 100mph its a torque beast that lacks nothing. Something that can change ones experience with various bikes is size of rider. Some of that may be at play. However if you get a chance to ride the Suzuki GT I would be surprised if you didn't like it a hair better.

  • @derp195

    @derp195

    @@fearthorn7470 If I lived anywhere nice to ride, I'd have gone for the Suzuki for sure. I wouldn't necessarily argue that the tracer is a better bike, just that it's better for me. I live in Chicago, which is hours away from any roads remotely fun to ride a sport bike on. That means that long distance comfort is a priority. The knee bend on the Suzuki looks brutal for my knees, and that's really what did it for me. Even the knee bend on the tracer is enough that I'm planning on getting sliders that I'll use as highway pegs.

    2 жыл бұрын

    Everything on these types of bikes is made heavier. From the frame and subframe to the engine and it’s various components it’s all made of heavier and cheaper metal. Same with the n1k. This engine is based on the k5 gsxr, but all of it’s attached parts, casings and etc are made to be as light as possible on the R bike and made to be heavy duty and long lived on the touring bike. Then you couple in the plastics being bigger and even the mirrors probably weighing a bunch more than the R bike. If you ask me, they did a good job keeping it as light as they did at the price point they did.

    Also I want to point out this bike and the n1k feel much much more solid and better built (it’s more of a feeling based on the heaviness of the parts than actual quality) then a lot of the other bikes that are kind of in this price range and philosophy of use. Love the MT10, but this just feels like a higher quality road bike and feels like it’ll hold up better over the years although it won’t ever be as fast

    This has piles of cladding and more chassis parts than the no compromise GSXR1000. Everything done on a GSXR is for performance, most things on this is a balance for comfort. All touring bikes weigh more than their Super Street counterparts, even when they share a chassis. Considering it's under 500lbs when the GSX650F/1250F Sport Tourers are 520-540lbs, this is incredibly light for a larger sport touring bike.

    Hi, well I have read all about the gxs s1000 and also see some first ride videos like yours. I was thinking about buy a Yamaha XSR900 instead the GXS. But now I changed my mind and fall in love again with the Suzuki GXS S1000 GT plus. So soon I will have one thanks for your assistance.

    Was patiently waiting for a state-side practical review of this! As a GSX owner and loyal Suzuki rider (if you can't beat em, join em. Can't knock the majesty of the GSX). Nice to see it in the flesh, seems like a logical package at its price, with a frame much more impressive than it's peers. PS. Please don't kill the engines right after you do a high rev like that in the beginning sound test 😅. You leave tons of oil pressure in the upper parts of the motors that typically would equalize at idle, and just leave it stuck under pressure! Even 3-5 seconds is enough to allow the oil pressure to equalize again.

  • @Surpriseify

    @Surpriseify

    2 жыл бұрын

    Would the engine need to be rotating to equalize the pressure? Just curious, i would have assumed that oil channels in the engine would still allow it to?

  • @aj2858

    @aj2858

    2 жыл бұрын

    Sorry, I don't understand what you mean... there is no pressure if the engine is not running. You turn it on pressure rises, engine off pressure drops. Unless you have a racing oil pump that runs even with engine off.

  • @jordanjoestar8839

    @jordanjoestar8839

    Жыл бұрын

    @aj2858 not a good habit, and it's not good for any motor, especially turbo or dry sump systems. High RPM creates high pressure, and allowing to idle for a few moments gives it time to lower briefly. Not all lines and pumps can always depressurize when the engine is immediately turned off. We have machines of all makes and models and it's just good practice to prevent any hiccups or unnecessary wear on engines.

    After 6000+ (touring) miles on my GSXS 1000 GT+ here are my thoughts. I love it overall, and I agree with this review. Touring I don't worry about breaking down in remote areas. Suzuki's are reliable... Saying that, here are the (small) cons I have; I missed having heated grips in the cold/rainy weather. In the heat the engine fan comes on at every light and the heat is uncomfortable on the right leg. Bug splatter on shoulders/ helmet. (I'm 5'7") The locking mech on the bags are cheap, be careful... With full touring weight the kickstand is suspect...

    I looked and test drove the GT and the previous version GSX-S1000F. I found a brand new 2020 GSX-S1000F and pulled the trigger on it. Preferred the lines of S-1000F over the GT. This engine wakes up when you hit the 7K rpm range and it is a wild ride all the way to the redline. Not a fan of the GT look. Only difference I miss is that the GT has throttle by wire and the S100F has cable throttle. Otherwise, love the bike and it is one heel of a ride. Not giving up much at all over the GSX-R at all. ! I am a previous owner of GSX-R1000 and GSX-R750, but I am 55 and wanted a little more comfortable ride that the R, which the S provides. Good review!

    I don't get the hate for the F... Its an inexpensive liter bike geared for the street, it has upright bars and a fairing so you can put real miles on it without getting sore, and if you get an exhaust and flash the ecu it rips like a real k5 but with more torque. And it looks unique, every liter bike coming out these days is just copying eachother, like the gt youre riding.

    it'd be nice if you could ride the 1000sx and we could get a direct comparison. from other reviews, my personal takeaway is that there are three things better on the 1000gt: the quickshifter is supposedly smoother, the display is bigger and better laid out, lower seat height. but the 1000sx has better range, a remote preload on the rear, better power in the low and midrange, and better handling overall.

  • @Villani_AV

    Lower seat heights are only a benefit for shorter riders, us long legged people need more room between the seat and pegs that we tend to get with taller seats

  • @thinkdunson

    @thinkdunson

    10 ай бұрын

    @@Villani_AV sure, but in general, most people are going to want it lower. they build bikes to an average. depending on how sporty it is, they may push the average and go taller to give better handling. but by and large, seat height is dictated by what will work for the average rider. so right off the bat, half of people are going to want it shorter... but it's actually more than half of people because a shorter seat just makes it easier to handle while standing at a light or moving around a parking lot, for everyone but the absolute tallest riders. so, by my own guesstimation, i believe the majority of people would prefer a shorter seat height.
