@@dangerislander she was nominated for every other important award*, more than the other nominees, just doesn’t make sense other than what you mentioned with her campaigning and rubbing some bad shoulders. That could definitely have done it bc I didn’t think it was a bad performance, I actually liked her better than Kristen Stewart as Spencer.

I’ll repost this from Facebook: I KNEW IT!!!!!! SAGS and the BAFTAS are LAME! This performance was like a Black Swan, Natalie Portman performance. I think the only thing that deterred her was because of the creative choices of the direction of the film. Though divided, I personally thought it was genius on how Larrain made it dark and basically a character study of Princess Diana that wasn’t scared to go far in his imagination. I personally think it was because he’s not British and has no ties to the country and it’s people that he can direct it openly with his vision and not care. The same goes as to how dark his Jackie was as well and not care because he’s not American. Kristen Stewart’s performance was so good, it’ll be studied for other performing artists. I choose this over the lame Brie Larson ‘Room’ and Emma Stone ‘La La Land’ Best Actress wins. Those were popular wins and it was just, well, lame. Lol. Love this inspired choice. Kristen’s performance was so dark, so random, a legit performing art that I hope she wins. She just needs to beat out 3 other actresses as I seriously don’t think Olivia Colman will win it. Yay on this. Love GAGA, but that was just GAGA in Gucci clothes and putting on a “trying to have an Italian accent not sound New York but from Italy” and failed, as well as soooo many moments where it felt like her performance was that she was still just GAGA, not Patrizia. Jared Leto was the star of that movie. He transformed. Hope Kristen Stewart wins! This was pure Performing Art.

Revisiting this timeless classic half a year later. Please do this again for the 2023 noms

Denis Villeneuve robbed, Eternals had the best VFX in Marvel last year and Dune should win at least 5 Oscars and Willem Dafoe should get a nomination for supporting actor maybe.

Question: What would have to happen for "The Worst Person in the World" and "Flee" to get into Best Picture? I'll do you a favor and answer it myself: More international voters. There is not way (imo) those movies isn't in the top 10 of best picture (in the world) this year. The Oscars continues to be an American awards show even if they try to skew more international. Here is hoping the most prestigious movie award, at some point, is global!

Snubs: editing, cinematography, Catriona Balfe. 1. The storytelling was perfect: editing. 2. Although the cinematography wasn’t “impressive”, the way the shadows were presented gave us a better look at Branagh’s recollection of his family’s faces (especially his grandparents). 3. Finally, Balfe was the glue that kept this year’s best cast together. Look out for a win SAG ensemble to turn its fortunes around.

A lot of people were counting it out but WSS did well - They got Best film, director, supporting actress, production design, cinematography, sound & costumes - pretty much everything they were considered for except adapted screenplay (which isn't shocking as it's a musical) and editing (which was stupid it missed there).

I have to admit, I didnt like The Lost Daughter nor Being the Ricardos very much, but JK Simmons and Jesse Buckley were the best performances in their respective movies. I honestly thought at least one of those two were getting into picture since they overperformed, so I guess that's a win-win for me lol. Agreed they did some wild shit, some are upsetting but some I admired. What a weird pick for Nightmare Alley in Picture, would've thought Cate Blanchett would at least get in if they like the movie that much!

The Worst Person in the World in Original might be the best pleasant-surprise nomination in a couple years. I'd have to think about it, but yeah. Absolutely stellar writing. My biggest wish was that Worst Person and Drive My Car would be multiple nominees, and it happened. Don't love how Supporting Actor turned out, but glad Hinds is here. RIP Dornan and Faist. Jesse Plemons is a great actor. I'm going to pretend he's nominated for I'm Thinking of Ending Things. When is the last time BAFTA Leading Actress and Oscar Best Actress had no matches? Just crazy. The Villeneuve snub suuccckkkeed.

That's right, Gaga's performance was good but everything that surrounds her wasn't good, the writing was a mess, because of that it tanked her Oscar potential. And she has been a bit pretentious in interviews because she was basically overhyping herself up for an Oscar chances because of House of Gucci reviews, very mixed that would tanked her Oscar chances and she did. Not even her celebrity status could save her

I love all the nominations for Belfast, The Power Of The Dog, CODA, and West Side Story. Really love the nominations for performers like Andrew Garfield, Jessica Chastain, Denzel Washington, Troy Kotsur, and Benedict Cumberbatch. However, I'm heartbroken by Belfast's snubs for Caitriona Balfe, film editing, cinematography, and production design. Also, I thought Tick, Tick...Boom! was snubbed for Best Picture and Best Director. And while I knew The Green Knight had zero chance in anything, I still feel like it should've been a top contender across the board.
