Man I wanted a veloster N so badly. They are really hard to come by in my area and you got to deal with the dreaded Hyundai dealerships...Now they are discontinuing them. Yes, the elantra N is a great package and arguably better than the Veloster, but the looks of the Veloster way surpass the Elantra. I have a feeling if they made the veloster N as a typical 4 door hatchback, they would sell so well. Heres to hoping Hyundai listens.

@@Mr.Thermistor7228 on top of tons of other cars we haven't gotten like the RS3 hatch, M135i Hatch, GR Yaris, Megane RS, Trophy, or Trophy R. They get the I20N and the new Fiesta ST while not even leaving us with one cheap, super fun, tiny, tossable, turbo hothatch. Oh wait... we have the Abarth... SMH. I'm not even going to go into no AMG A 45s hatch cuz that's awesome as it is, for that price tag, there are lots of better options. Before we always knew that the UK and Europe in general had a certain amount of special cars that wouldn't make it here.. but now it's just getting ridiculous. Especially since there is a huge 30-50k enthusiast car market on this side of the pond too. (Like the lightweight rally bred AWD Turbo hatch GR Yaris , with all its trick E-diffs, ACD's etc that doesn't share anything with the standard Yaris. But they end up sending us the GR Corolla?? Which seems so great on paper. But the GR Corolla is still a Corolla underneath, allbeit with plenty of upgrades, it still is a Corolla. Not the case with the Yaris. That is about 97% brand new, sharing only the most minor item/items with an actual Yaris (can't remember which). They actually created the production Yaris so they could enter it into the WRC (or something like that). So they created it to be a true rally car first and a road car second, but that's not the case with the GR Corolla. The point is that somehow we're getting stiffed again here in North America and it sucks because I really wanted a GR Yaris as it has every performance feature I would want in my car, while looking super badass at the same time, and fitting my budget. But I want nothing to do with the GR Corolla. Looks ugly to me, instead of the top of the hatch being sloped downwards at the rear (the way a hatch should) it kind of keeps going too far out back. (Similar to the rear of the Mazdaspeed 3 Gen 2)

Have had my '22 Veloster N DCT for 1.5 years. The car is a delight. Every time you turn it on and the engine rumbles to life, you are reminded that the car was designed by B-man and made for direct dopamine injections to the brain. 0-60 in 4.8 seconds is 90's supercar fast. It is 0.8 seconds faster to 60 stock than an STI. (If you can find the grip). The exhaust sounds great. The pops and burble are fantastic. Even in the softest suspension settings, it is very stiff. If you hit a pothole in the hardest settings, you will think you hit a curb dead-on as your soul floats out of your body. On the hardest settings, the thing is an absolute GO KART. It is insanely responsive and hilariously planted. The NGS (Electric NOS) button is GREAT fun. You don't get a 'huge' power boost, but the transmission immediately shifts to the power band where the extra power is DEFINITELY noticeable. It is basically an instant pass button. The launch control, is again, a smile generator. A couple upgrades that make a HUGE difference - Boomba racing rear motor mount - stops wheel hop and boosts throttle response. Additional oil cooler Original red NGS button WARNING - This car can hydroplane VERY easily if you put big tires in the rear. This is a problem often discussed on the forums. Many people have put their car into a guardrail.

I have a VN dct and adore it. It is more planted than my old wrx by a country mile. I have N custom set up the same as N mode, except with traction control enabled and the exhaust quiet. The dct is indescribably awesome. It shifts so hard (With the aggressive settings) that it slams you back in your set on shift. The NGS button is tons of fun. The performance per dollar ratio is simply incredible. I couldn't be happier. The only reason I didn't get the Elantra N is because I don't like the styling. -- The upgrades I would recommend. --getting an oil cooler. I think Socal Garage Works makes a great one that is disabled until the car heats up. -- Big air intake - more air more powah -- Sxth element ecu piggyback unit -- HUGE power upgrade. VERY noticeable. (You need to upgrade the spark plugs for this) With these alone you get an entirely different car.

7 month update. No regrets. The car is still incredible. If you want more pops and a richer exhaust, you can swap the the exhaust that comes with the manual car. It is a different part number, and as it is OEM to the car, you shouldn't have problems in most places.

Still driving my 2015 mk7 Golf R which I do love and is a fantastic and fun daily driver...but after driving my Buddy's 21 VN DCT, I fell in love within 2 minutes. And my golf are is APR stage 2 full bolt on, freaking rocket ship, but even with all that acceleration and Power, doesn't compare to the precision, agility, handling, chassis involvement, road communication and exhilaration of the Veloster N DCT. That 8-speed wet DCT is absolutely fantastic, and even though my car is awesome, because it does give you the really nice German refinement, the nice interior materials, but you do feel a lot more insulated and comforted in the car, and when you want to drive hard and hoon about, even with all my chassis and suspension mods, the Veloster n is just so much livelier and sharper and I just can't say enough fantastic things about it. And don't get me started on the level of performance customization. My car has like three different things which are the engine, the DCT, the dampers, and the steering. But you guys have all that plus the active exhaust adjustments, elsd adjustments, ESC adjustments, etc. Only other cars that have that much customization things like the 90,000 m4 and the 100k Plus ct5 blackwing. All that in a package for about 33k is unbeatable I'm so destroyed that there isn't the 2023 coming out and I'm stuck choosing between a compact SUV that's even tighter inside than the Veloster somehow, yet sits up higher obviously causing the handling to suffer to some degree. Or the Elantra N that looks like it has no front bumper or like it's missing something up there LOL. Anyway sorry for the long post but I just wanted to tell you that you're you and anyone else who's gotten a VN DCT, or manual are lucky as hell so enjoy them.

Don’t want to take it to the grocery store and get door dings (even thought he factory paint is baaaad), don’t want to drive it in the winter, don’t want to run the miles up, don’t want the kiddo to make a mess of the seats with her bottle, don’t want to take it to the track or auto cross and mess it up. I drove a DCT Elantra N and it didn't push me back in the seat as much as my MT Veloster N. Maybe the power band and shorter gearing of the Veloster N just make it feel more extreme on the old butt dyno. Either way the Veloster N is more fun to drive because of its smaller size and more extreme character. The Elantra N is more practical, comfortable, and has a nicer interior.

I’d never get a Hyundai tbh. Interiors are hella outdated and they aren’t innovative at all in terms of technology and driver’s feedback in comparison to Japanese and American manufacturers.

@@canadianaviator the thing is in a fun performance car when do you ever look at the interior (and if you are that means your not having fun) and wish oh why isn’t there leather over here or alcantara over there. Also compared to Hyundais new N cars I feel that BMW’s latest offerings are numb and all they have going for them is pure speed. The two cars are also in completely different price ranges, like I could get 3 Veloster Ns with the dct for the price of one g80 m3.

@@myusernameisthisduh I mean the active dampers.. They usually sell for around $500 a pop.. cooked with traditional suspension that might be around $500 for all four.. but that is just one thing, there is a ton of stuff on this car that has microprocessors so it can be automated and will cost a bunch in maintenance when they wear out.. the smart settings are cool until they fail and need to be replaced.. infact I think even the bearings for the linkage are connected to the axle!! Lol!! A lot of volester N owners will have a rude awakening when stuff starts wearing out.. there is no free lunch.. that is why I just got a r spec, it is not quite as fast but who cares? It is old school and simple.. simple is good.. plus the engine was designed for a turbo, not retrofitted on later for more horsepower. But if you can afford to keep a car like this it will be more rewarding tearing it up for sure!!
