Love the video Topher! Great as always, love the commentary while driving. Any thoughts on the recent discovery of silicone in the oil pick up tube in the GR86?
those drifts are crisp!
that opening montage is making me reconsider getting sticky tires for mine 😄 how do you get such a wide open track? is it a private rental or just a quiet hpde? hard to dorifto while dodging other cars
Do you have any concerns about the RTV sealant issue for the 22’ BRZ / GR86 models?
Love this vid and the one you were featured in on Zygrene's channel. I think the DCT Veloster N would still have the edge but Jackie Ding showed a modified MT Veloster N was virtually identical to a modified MT BRZ so it really is in the tires and brakes letting you down here. Who cares when it looks that fun though?

Exactly! That was an awesome video that Jackie put together.
You should do a video on explaining how you learned to drive so well!
I agree. He is the master. He communicates with the car so well, that he knows what's going on with the car and can respond to it properly. That's why his videos are so satisfying to watch, especially for thoes who do the heel and toe downshifts. Thank God that car enthusiasts world has the Topher.
We need some exterior shots of those slides
I like seeing this comparison. Different cars completely but still similar price for someone looking to get on the track.
Nice video
I love this video because these are the two cars I'm heavily debating on getting probably not the 2022 model I don't got 40k candian 😭
I would really be interested to see what the new GR86 / BRZ with brakes upgrade, suspension and wider contact patch with good tyres would do. I think it would feel godly.

You should give the Kumho Ecsta 730 a try if they have a set to fit your rims edit: i have no experience with the 730 but the last 5 sets of tires ive had on all my cars ive tried most of the other Kumho offerings and they've never let me down.

Oh my drifts!
You had the tires howling like royals when rebels break down the gate.
I made my mind in the first 40 seconds of the video.
Which is the more fun daily driver for $25000? Would be more like 2019 or 2020 models though
niceeee!!
Do you separate track tyres that you mount on track days?
Running the limited trim PS4 tires would probably help a bit with corner speeds! I agree about the primacys being more fun all around. I'd rather run the primacys on stock wheels and have a seperate set of wheels with some 200tw rubber for the track.
@BrodeyDoverosx

AR1s will save you some cash and hold grip better than any 200TW tire. The RS4 and Conti ECF are great 200TW tires for lapping though.

@@Aurablade77 I think you are far better off with the VN compared to the EN. sure some people say the Elantra is a bit quicker and perform slightly better than the VN, and yeah the EN has some interior upgrades and the digital dash flowing into the digital infotainment.. but I personally hate the way it looks. unless the car is in Black, the Elantra N looks like it has no front bumper, or is if something is missing, it's all weird looking and triangular corners everywhere. the VN is so mean and aggressive looking, especially from the rear with those wide haunches and that muscular squatting look like it's ready to rocket forward. beautiful front grill as well and pretty much has everything in terms of performance and customization as the Elantra N with maybe the exception of being able to adjust the styles of exhaust noise that comes into the cabin through the speakers. I personally find the VN to be the nicest hot hatch out there with the exception of maybe the A45s and the new Civic Type R, but that doesn't seem like a hatch to me. I myself have a mk7 Golf R but I got it in 2015 and even though it's got low miles I've been running about 29 PSI since 2016 when I did the APR stage 2 tune, and all the accompanying boltons. I've already been told by my tuner that the wastegate on my Turbo might be going soon, so it's a question of keeping the mk7 golf R and spending the money to replace, or even upgrade the turbo, cuz it's only got about 40,000 miles on the car, or I was considering getting into a VN. a buddy of mine had a stock 2021 VN and let me drive it for an afternoon and it was the most fun I've had in a car since Maybe my buddies E39 M5 back in 2006. the level of precision, grip, cornering, chassis balance and etc etc is on a whole different level than my mk7 Golf R. don't get me wrong, my Golf R with the mods hits 60 in 3.5 and mid 11s in the quarter, but does not put a smile on my face like the VN did. just so much more raw and truly something that comes right out of the box that doesn't need anything done to it except maybe some tinted windows and maybe a few minor aesthetic adjustments according to personal taste, but my buddies was completely stock and in terms of drivability felt absolutely perfect for daily driving, even if it's a little stiff in comfort mode is perfectly fine because I live in South Florida where the roads are smooth as glass, and I also had an S2000 AP1 for about 4 years which was definitely stiffer and it was my only car and I loved it. but unfortunately, all of a sudden I hear that they're getting rid of it for 2023, yet keeping the freaking Kona instead? I understand that people are all about SUVs or crossovers these days, but the Kona N is just as tight if not tighter in the rear seats then the Veloster N... so you're not getting any more practicality with it. you're just sitting up higher, and obviously getting more body roll. anyway sorry about the long message. just wanted to tell you that the VN will definitely hold on to its value, especially in the years to come with everything becoming electrified. and with the type of performance the VM provides combined with its level of customization, and how badass it looks, if you got yours for MSRP then you're really lucky. Right now with the whole inflation thing, used Veloster Ns are going for more than new ones, and new ones are almost impossible to find.. wish I didn't wait so long to pull the trigger.... enjoy it bro 👍.

Surprisingly my 500 Abarth pulled on the straights with a GR86 on my tail. He was surprised how fast my car was and I was the opposite! The cornering was no contest of course. I could win him out at the slower corners where the 500 can muster out great speed. For reference, I was running a stock boost, timing only tune with my unichip, 94 octane and spraying 50/50 water/meth.
I had more fun driving this than the N to be honest

Drifting is fun until you don't want to do it, and it's just so happens to be a thing because the tires just can't hold the turning request from the chassis. The BRZ feels like it's a Ferrari on bicycle wheels... SET HIM FREE!
