Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We drive the 2022 GMC Canyon AT4 and discuss the new off-road performance package and its availability. The Canyon is also getting a full redesign next year, which means this truck is the end of era. What can we expect from the 2023 GMC Canyon? Plenty of changes, that's for sure.

I agree, the next gen GM midsizers need to maintain the V-6 option; I've owned the 3.6 in multiple vehicles all the way back from my '06 STS and appreciate all it does (through all its iterations); smooth, powerful (enough for me), respectable to great fuel mileage (and all the one's I've had were reliable).

@@james2042 Opinions vary: the 2.7 hasn't been around long enough to say how great it is or isn't. It's a turbo so that's a complexity the V-6 doesn't have (and the V-6 is smoother than that turbo 4). Granted the turbo is a powerhouse but the latest 3.6 pushes 335 hp in my Cadillac CT-6 which certainly is a respectful number.

Great video I recently purchased the 2022 canyon at4 and this video answered almost all the questions I had. Yes I was wondering about the performance package but here in Canada you get the performance skid plate package which is just the skid plates. I did however get that air dam removed when I first got it. Any leveling kit or rocket guards you have to purchase as an accessory. I believe the 2.7 turbo motor is used on the Sierra’s pro, sle and elevation models so it probably has all the kinks worked out. 310 hp and 430 lb ft of torque.

I’d love to see the 2.7 in the GM twins. I feel with it’s potency that such a powertrain may be reserved for top trim or special edition models. Hopefully I’m wrong though as having that as a standard or available option on any model would really make these trucks rise to the top.

I went with the Elevation...added black exhaust tip, logos and spray in bed liner... Black tow hooks... . bought all the skids 600$ CDN from GM ...slapped on a 1 inch level.... 90$ ... chin gone.. pretty much the AT4 minus the tires..... even the performance package I think only add hill decent.. which is 4wd low for me.. and rocker protection.... not sure if its worth the extra coin...

The GMC’s just seem so much more expensive than the Chevys, especially in the US. It’s why I went for the Silverado. Maybe it’s a different price point up in Canada. For me, it’s just not worth the extra money for what you get. The GMC’s are fancier, but that’s not why most people buy trucks. That’s just my thought about it. All the new trucks come with so much stuff now, you can get a mid level trim and still have plenty of goodies. My LT (with the convenience package) has heated seats and steering wheel, power driver seat, gooseneck/5th wheel package, spray in bed liner, and just about anything else you could need. That’s fancy enough for me. I don’t need to waste money on a sunroof I’ll never use or any other stuff you can get. That’s me though, get whatever you like.

The appearance is that it needs a better lift, bigger tires and no air dam. I'm hoping the 2023 suspension rivals tacomas because off road vehicles are advancing in handing and their looks. It GM says the canyon is meant for off road then it should even have a more aggressive look to it.

So looks like it's still just paint and stickers as everything you had on that truck is an available option for a base model. I was really impressed with the ZR2 but I don't see a ton of them on the road so I really doubt GMC will go out of its way to make a copy. Front and rear lockers are great but GM has a habit of making wheel wells just big enough for the factory tires and they'll never have a cult following like the Jeeps or tacos if you can't have fun bolting aftermarket parts to it.

The whole midsize segment absolutely sucks, there is not a single truck in this segment worth buying, except maybe a ridgeline. The ranger is an 11 year old dumpster fire, the colorado and canyon are only 1 year newer, and also dumpster fires. The taco is dated as hell and just rides on the name and "tOyOtA ReLiAbiLiTy". The frontier got an interesting redesign but its only seen as good because all the competition sucks. The ridgeline is the best midsize but most truck people hate it because its "not a truck" fun fact, it is. Then theres the gladiator, which isn't a midsize truck, its a wrangler with a bed and appeals to the exact same lifestyle market as the wrangler. No one buys a gladiator for its towing capability, or its utility. They buy it because it looks cool. If ram decided to make the ram 1200 a midsize and actually put a decent truck in the midsize segment, they could of rattled the entire segment and forced clean sheet redesigns from ford and chevy, but in a very anticompetitive move, made the gladiator instead, which they know will sell regardless of its quality because *jeep.* Instead the ram 1200 is going to be somewhere between a maverick and ridgeline in being a unibody mini truck, based on the compass platform, which makes me wanna jump off a bridge, since the much more capable cherokee platform seems to be dissapearing into the sunset.
