I own a Genesis GV60 and it is simply amazing. Gorgeous inside and out, faster than you’re comfortable driving, next-level tech, and so quiet it’s almost distracting. Plus, the wife and the dog love this car! I give it 10 stars

@@Mike-lt6sj the path will be Tesla will make money from cars and use that money to clean up everything and accelerate the world to transition to renewable energy … except tesla everyone is just trying to survive..you can also help humanity by installing solar on your roof top and installing heat pump for water heater dryer and heating the house. Heat pump is just the compressor running reverse. And if you can buy an EV too then use that electricity from solar to power your EV. For 24 hour supply of renewable energy solar + storage will be needed.

The Genesis is a luxury brand, Ford is not. The Mach-e actually has one of the best Ford interiors to date though.

Not only is the Genesis faster but the interior is miles better looking and much more premium than both the Tesla and Mach-e. I'll take the Genesis without hesitation.

@@bryjb10 Hagerty just posted a video of the GV60 drag racing a Model Y Performance, among other vehicles, and the Genesis soundly beat the MYP (in addition to the Mustang Mach E GT and a C7 Corvette).

Model Y with 100+ less HP, 40% less torque……… walking the Mach E. That’s a damn shame. A Model Y Performance eats both of these cars for lunch. That Genesis was absolutely MOVING!

The Mach E is designed to have full power for only 5 seconds after that the car slows down substantially. That’s why it’s gaps them on the take off but always loses the race.

The Model Y Performance has 450hp and 471lb/torque vs GV60 483hp and 516lb/torque with "boost" mode (last 10 secs and can be continuously reactivated). But, of course, the GV60 is a luxury vehicle and isn't designed for the most optimal CD: 0.29 vs 0.23 for the MY.

The EV6 GT is going to be the fastest, probably 2-3 tenths faster than the 2nd fastest (model Y performance)

And the Model Y isn’t even the performance but yet it walked away from a vehicle with almost 700lbs of torque and almost 300 more horsepower. Shameful

Facts. My Genesis 5.0 is no match for the Mustang Mach E GT. However, seeing that the GV60 can take care of it, I can still sleep well at night. J/K🤣 All cars are fantastic but I must be honest, the Genesis GV60 surprised the hell out of me. Must be very frustrating to leave every vehicle off the line, only to end up loosing the race still. Oops.

Funnily enough, even the Mach-E Premium beats the Mach-E GT to the 1/4 mile.

The new Kia ev6 GT would wipe the floor with them all lol, that genesis looks beautiful inside , be my pick out of the ones in this race, the Mach e GT looks fine for first 5 seconds or about 75 or 80 mph then it cuts power to save battery so be no use on a track lol, I think for us in UK it be fine but for autobahn it be no use, hopefully ford will address this only 5 second of full power issue an give it full power constantly, big thumbs up for the genesis it's stunning 👌👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

You need to research how the Mustang Mach E GT battery system works. It's set up for rapid acceleration of approximately 5 seconds for merging on an interstate or passing another vehicle, then drops to a lower power to preserve the batteries life at 70%. This keeps owners from having future battery issues and keeping it a viable pre-owned vehicle. If you want to see what Ford produced in high performance EVs. Watch the wheel standing EV Mustang Cobra Jet and Mach E 1400 make 1/4 mile passes. Considering battery replacement can cost as much as $20,000. I would rather have the Mach E battery saving program that saves the batteries.

Nothing to do with over heating. It's to maintain battery life at 70% reducing the need to replace batteries and keeping it a viable option for the pre-owned market. Most owners will use a 5 second burst to enter an interstate or pass another vehicle. Not for drag racing. I believe that Shelby may introduce a performance Mustang Mach E GT without that program.

I added the performance upgrade on my model Y and it made a big difference. I'm assuming that the Y they were racing didn't have it because they never mentioned it.

Was that with regular power or higher power. With the 800V architecture, it charges fast if you have the fast charger. 38 minutes vs 18 minutes for mustang to gv60 for both from 10-80%. Egged with the Ford 240v, still much slower than genesis

Model Y Performance would have beat both. The GV60 has a similar 0-60 than the MY, but the MY has more top end as apparent by this drug race where it kept up with the GV60 in the roll despite being down 100+ ponies and 40% less torque.

Sorry you are wrong At the track with 70% charge My 2022 Tesla model Y Performance Runs an 11:80 @ 115 mph 1/4 Way quicker than all 3 of those vehicles. Take them to the track on the clocks that's the only real way to know how quick they really are.

Their batteries can't handle the heat well. Cylindrical cells have the advantage of much better cooling, so higher performance potential. Odd that they didn't use a performance Y.

I have the GTPE and yes, it's very fast and sticks to the road but that 5 second limit is killer. Wish they figure out how to remove it.

Was the Mach E put in Performance Extended Mode?

I'd take the Tesla any day. The Tesla charging network makes all the difference and the performance and range are unmatched. To say both of the non-Teslas were the performance version, the non-performance Tesla still held its own. This video would have carried more weight if you had performance variants of each of the models.

They went by price. Model Y LR in Canada starts at 79,480Cad, gv60 starts at 71kcad. Depends on what you're comparing. Performance or price or price to performance ratio. Also on that case the Ev6 GT would be a better race for the model Y performance. But that said the model Y performance also runs 11.9-12.1 quarter miles. The gv60 also runs 11.9.

What a waste. First off, the "races" just sort of start arbitrarily, no lineup, nothing. Then there's all the useless footage of talking on walkie-talkies and doing nothing. No wide shots. No overhead.

Ford limiting and tapering down the power of the Mach-E was probably the greatest recent example of bad decision making from big auto. What were they thinking? It's the performance model and it's as fast as a Ford Focus above 70mph

The fact that they didn’t use a Tesla Model Y performance made this race unfair to Tesla.

Hagarty did the 1/4 mile drag race with MYP and GV60. The GV60 won decisively. Butt hurt much? 😂

The Mustang's launch has got to be nasty. Considering I know how quick the Gv60 is, it's amazing how badly it gets blown out from a stop. But it's got some speed limiter on it by the looks of it. (I know they also tone the horsepower down after a launch or something) whereas the Gv60 clearly has a higher top speed.

Koreans are going to have a monopoly on EVs. SK Innovations (Korean) builds Ford's batteries, LG Chem (Korean) builds GM's batteries, Samsung builds Stellantis-Chrysler's batteries. I think they'll save the best batteries for themselves. Tesla uses Japan's Panasonic. I think Toyota may also control their own supply since they've developing solid-state batteries. No American company controls any meaniningful amount of lithium-ion or solid-state battery patents to be self-sufficient. So, they're screwed. The fact Korean and Japanese companies are building battery factories in the U.S. for all American EVs is proof of my statement.

Why does it seem like hte Genesis has some serious accelerator lag? Is that driver error. Yes it caught up, but that was well after 60.

looks like Sam didn't activate the "boost" mode before or when he launched.

This makes me excited for the Hyundai N Vision 74

So there's a comparable Tesla performance Model Y but they don't run that one? Kind of weird.

The Mustang has clearly reached its limiter, and then the other 2 started to brag Ford has to work on it.

It's the battery....better battery cells (higher current output) in the GV60.

As others said Model Y Performance should be in the lineup if you want apple vs apple.

All those vehicles lost 5 miles of driving in that 13 second blast

Does the Tesla have the performance boost option installed?

You say tesla model y "dual motor" but you don't specify long range or performance model. I don't believe that's the performance version

Ford mustang gt ev has 100hp more than the Tesla and its still close in the quarter wow!

I'm thinking it's the traction control. Disabled it, and all the power will come out at once. I wouldn't recommend doing that if you don't want to go sailing into the field.

I was actually impressed by Tesla MY LR coming close to performance versions of the other 2 models. I think a boost pack is enough to beat the other 2 cars, not even performance version is needed.

Sam, thanks for bringing us this test. A great matchup here. I am glad you used the Model Y dual motor instead of the Performance model. The Performance model is too fast for this matchup. Did the Model Y have the “Boost Pack”?

Probably not on the Y acceleration boost, it’s almost as fast as the performance. I have it on the 3, and on a roll we are tied, the performance is quicker out of the hole by .5 seconds

Something is up with the GV60 / or boost mode wasn’t used - it’s been down to 3.4 seconds in Testing. The lowest the Mach E GT PE has been is 3.6.

@@troosimimimmi nope. 3.4 to 60 has been achieved. In the video you can see he doesn’t use boost right away and he says he’s almost out of charge

For a right test you should try Model Y Performance (similar HP to others), not Model Y Long Range

GV60 faster than Model Y performance in quarter mile drag. GV60 recored 11.xx. Model Y peformance recored 12.xx. Search in KZread.

Does pushing the cars like that have an adverse affect on the life of the battery? I mean it creates more heat right? I assume that is a bad thing. I have a Mach-E (non GT) but the GV60 is on the top of my "other/next" BEV. I don't race or drag. In fact, I rarely go over 70 mph during the week. What's funny is all three cars likely accelerate faster and more smoothly than a comparable ICE model. The speed is nice but I think the smooth is what I like better.

Accelerating hart in an ev has no adverse effects in the battery because the system will cool it if it get's too hot or if that's not enough it will cut power. Only slight negativ effect is the increased consumption and there by the need to charge to Battery more often, so if you're doing this regularly you're battery will degrade more quickly, but if you rarely doing it you won't notice anything negativ.

I was so excited about the EVs that Ford had planned, but then Ford did what Ford does and screwed things up. The Ford Mach-E is a wiring and plumbing mess; it continues to have electrical issues, the price has jumped, and the GT gets stomped by a non-GT GV60 and a non-performance Model Y. Then there is the Lightning. Ford has underwhelmed in the range department; the price has raised by nearly $10,000 on many models when options are included. This was before Ford even shipped 15,000 units. While telling even day-one reserve holders, including myself, they would not honor the original price. I've owned several Fords, but I'm done with them. Thanks for the reminder about how much Ford sucks.

At what speed does the Mach E GT have it's massive power dump? Or what speed did the GV60 pass it?

@@wbwayne8887 Power starts to fall off immediately, but isn't very noticeable until about 60mph. After 80, it's a crawl.

That's an unfair fight. Highest spec on the Ford and Genesis, but midrange on the Tesla. Just the dual motor and not the performance??

I have watched this channel a couple of times and I can say that it would be better if they made a video with something other than cars.

Why are you comparing un equal models. The Tesla model y performance would win hands down. Yet you use the slow version. This is basically FUD. Don't forget the ford's batteries and connections are not up to speck..hence the recall and the stopage of selling them. Just wow.
