@@mk6995 that is a great car you got there but you should drive it more and enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed. People kind of focus on real low miles like it's a badge of honor but imo having a few miles on it is more of a badge of honor because that shows that you actually enjoyed it as intended. I'm not saying drive it constantly a rack up tons of miles necessarily but you should try to enjoy it more than 4000 total miles in 7+ years of ownership.

Actually it is rather the other way around. The 2020 is 600 lb heavier than the 2014. It only comes in an automatic while the 2014 only comes in manual. Traditionally muscle cars are big powerful and very heavy and mostly come in automatic. They are Cruisers meant for straight lines and they go fast in straight lines and they spend their time being driven to golf courses and restaurants. Just like the 2020 GT500. The 2014 like traditional sports cars only comes in manual, and it can pull more lateral G-Force in a turn than a Porsche 911 turbo. They are often seen at tracks being beaten on, and unlike the vast majority of manual sports cars, the 2014 GT500 has an oil cooling pump for it's manual transmission which is extremely rare on a manual transmission because they don't need them since they do not get hot like automatics do. Unless you beat on it very hard all day long. Yet they put that cooling pump inside the 2014 manual transmission simply because it is intended to be beaten on all day long at the track. The 2014 performs like a supercar, but is priced as a sports car. The 2020 goes in a straight line like a super car, is priced like a super car, but just like the Corvette it is only owned and driven by Boomers. The 2020 does look cooler, meaner, more badass, I'll give it that. The 2014 is a true driver's car, The 2020 is a status symbol for old rich boomers pretending to be driving enthusiasts. I would not trade my 2013 GT500 even for the Code Red. I like driver's cars, not status symbols and computer-controlled gimmicks.

Thanks for making this video. The front side wings on the 2021 GT 500 are known as "canards" to help funnel air into the factory installed coolers. The front of the 2014 GT 500 is missing another set of lower front air spoilers that are installed during final prep. It makes the front end even lower more like the 2021 GT 500.

Let's face it. Electric musclecars are going to take over soon. The best way to celebrate piston engine tech is enjoying true old school, where the 14 excels. Looking at the "Car and Driver" road tests of the 2013 vs the 2020 GT500s, there isn't that much difference in straight line performance except for the 13-14's much higher top speed.

It isn't hard to get any 07-14 gt500 to outperform a 20-21 in a straight line as they aren't THAT far ahead to begin with. Even the older 07-09 could get into the low 11s at well over 120 mph in the quarter with very simplistic bolt on parts. The 13-14 did better with just bolt ons mostly because of the better tvs blower. Put that tvs blower on an older car you make comparable power with little less torque. The same hp ceiling on the stock driveline on all 07-14 models. The new one outperforms them on track but to me it doesn't make a good track car because it's just far too heavy that thing is gonna eat brakes and tires like it's nobodies business. The older ones weren't that good a choice for track weapon either as they weren't exactly lightweights. A boss would prob be best if track is what you're after same with the gt350 on the s550. With the gt500 they should have focused on straight line oriented stuff and gave us a manual trans. While you can't "outshift" the dct I think you can come far closer to equaling it than many people realize. It has like 10 millisecond shifts whereas some of the quickest manual shifters can do 25-30 millisecond shifts and while not as fast obviously it's not nearly as much "slower" as people make it out to be you just gotta actually have mad skill to drive a manual this way whereas on the dct anyone can drive it fast. I think it would have been better to go more straight line oriented like the older ones with a manual option that could have really kept cost down quite a bit and it could be known as a high hp bargain. I know it is capable numbers wise the weight kills brakes and tires and to me it just don't make a good track car. Just too much weight. Focus on what it does well, straight line speed and stop trying to make it do too much well driving cost up and completely eliminating the manual option which clearly many people still want. That alone would save alot of cash as the dct is like 20 grand much much more than even a 7 speed manual tremec like c7 vettes got. Would have been a good chance to use that tr6070 trans in the gt500 as an option. I honestly don't think performance would suffer greatly as long as you actually know how to drive weather you're talking take off or the twisties stuff in which manuals can still be very capable in the right hands.

You got two kinds of people. You got the ones who prefer the manual trans for the driving experience and don't care that it isn't the absolute fastest possible et and 0-60 and the ones who prefer the old school look and feel and sound of the older car and the simplicity of it. Then you got the other guys who always go with whatever the newest option is because it has better magazine stats and more clout to be had and they can brag about how it's faster around the track and not even taken it there (as if it even matters at that point) and they rave about the new fancy interior and dog the older one like it's the most terrible thing ever and they couldn't stand to so much as sit in that old hunk of junk (I'm not exaggerating). Guy number 1 understands more about cars and what enjoying them is all about. Guy number 2 just wants the latest greatest thing that has the most clout to offer. Guy number 1 understands that how much fun you have and the overall driving experience is more important than having the fastest possible 0-60 time and fancy gadgets to brag about that you'll probably forget within a month. I can proudly say I am in group 1. I prefer the older car I love the look feel and sound better and the simplicity of it and I prefer a true 3 pedal manual for many reasons including that I just outright enjoy them and the art of driving them more. I take pride in showcasing what is possible with manual trans people are in disbelief many times when they see me shift a manual much faster than they thought possible from a true 3 pedal h pattern manual that you have to clutch in on the shifts (aka a true manual). The old one is half the price and will stand out more out in the wild. It is still a brutally fast car albeit in a much more raw and sketchy way (not a bad thing). The new one is too "do it all for you" and refined and much less engaging. Just my .02 from what I've experienced and how I think it's broken down into 2 groups on this. The ones who think it's obvious the older one is better for many reasons outside of just numbers and the ones who think it's obsurd to even consider the older one despite being half the price because ultimate numbers aren't as good on paper. Sometimes it isn't just about fastest possible et and 0-60 this is why the plaid sucks imo. It don't deliver on anything except 0-60 and et. The new gt500 isn't like that but it's a similar thing where just because numbers are better on one don't mean the overall driving experience will be. Some don't understand this. I'm happy to be part of group 1.

You broke it down perfectly. I saw a different video where a few people (only a few) said they thought the s197 was ugly and terrible compared to s550. I think people who love the classic mustangs are the ones who appreciate the s197s. I like s550s but the s197 has more of that classic engaging feel

  • @midnight347

@@spittinvenom9671 people don't get it man. To them lacking that third pedal means its a couple tenths quicker to 60 and in the quarter and they have no regard for the actual driving experience (which is much better with the true 3 pedal manual). It's all about numbers with everyone these days 0-60 and quarter mile. The dct isn't even that good for quarter mile stuff I don't think performance would suffer all that much with a true 3 pedal manual long as you got the driver mod. You'd still have a high 10 second car at over 130 mph easily in bone stock form even with the stick. There is always somebody faster. Give me the better driving experience which is the manual by a mile and I'll build it from there to be what I want it to be and run and drive the way I want if to to make it even more enjoyable. Their answer is always you can't shift faster than the dct. So?? You can shift pretty fast if you know what you're doing and performance difference from just the shifting alone will be minimal. I'm just a manual guy to the end and I always will be. I actually thoroughly enjoy the art of driving and the art of driving a true 3 pedal manual transmission. There's nothing like it.

Mustangs after 2014 look over done with the sharp angles and smaller front grill, rear looks cheap with that flimsy plastic look and they don't look like muscle cars but look like a mazda/euro car. 2005-2014 has that real American Muscle Mustang appeal that pays tribute to the 65-73 models.

The 2014 is honestly just as fast of a car at least 0-60 and in the quarter mile. Top speed is where the new gt500 takes the cake. 2014 0-60 is 3.7 secs 11.7 sec 1/4 mile at 132 mph. 2022 0-60 is 3.3 sec 11.3 sec 1/4 mile at 137 mph. Mph I'm not 100% on but it's close

  • @MacPhee_Ford

The 2014 is much harder to launch and actually get to that 3.7 second 0-60. That would be on a prepped surface with rollout. GT500 will launch much easier, especially on the Cup 2 tires. But the 2014 has an enormous amount of power especially for its time. 660 horsepower back in 2014 was unreal and still is to this day. Both great cars!
