2020 SHELBY GT500 DRAG RACES 2014 GT500 SUPER SNAKE! 1/4 MILE PASSES

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here we are back at the drag strip with the 2020 Shelby GT500. Scott also came along in his GT500 Super Snake! Yes, we had to make sure to get some passes in together! All runs were for fun, and do not represent how truly fast these extremely capable cars are. As you can tell from watching, there was a significant unfair advantage. Nonetheless, it was so exciting being able to take these cars the drag strip together! I'm still dialing in my 2020 GT500, and the more I learn about it the better I get with it... So these experiences are very beneficial to me. As a hardcore road course enthusiast, this car has opened up the door to an entirely new world to me. DRAG RACING!

There seems to be a lot of people commenting about the Super Snake.... The driver does not own the car, and it is his first time ever running it flat out. He was learning the car, as I was learning the GT500... The Super Snake is not an easy car to drive hard, because it has 1000 HP. It takes time to get used to it and to build the confidence. Unfortunately Scott (the owner) cannot drive it, because of his condition. So our friend was kind enough to get behind the wheel and drive that monster on track.

The car was too much for the kid driving, good thing it didn't get destroyed. It would take a very experienced driver to get that car down the track and make it look easy.

Speed Phenom: What was the DA? What is the track elevation? Of course, if the track isn't prepped well, it'll hurt ETs. However, density altitude really matters. It's obvious conditions were great at the Motorplex. The 10.66 proves it.

Yeah, many times a driver thinks "full throttle" is the way to win, it's all about pedal modulation. I think a good burnout and a short-shifting of 1st gear on top of not going full throttle would help him gain some confidence. Just improving technique will drop the E.T.s. Too many feel the need to impress right of the bat.

Funny thing, I was yelling at the beginning that your burnouts were way too short. Even at the end I felt they were still not long enough. It's important you get those tires really sticky, but then you already know that. Great video, keep them coming.

What was the D/A and track elevation where you were racing. Means a lot but both cars ran pretty much what I expected to see in 2000 foot D/A

DA was 1,600, and I believe elevation was 1,200 ft.

You had almost perfect D/A with excellent track conditions, and 93 octane fuel in Texas ! Which all ads up to low ET's ! Keep practicing you'll get your launch technique down...

Doesn’t the 13 14 Shelby with an exhaust and cold air trap about the same as the 2020?

Speed Phenom, I read or saw a video that Ford says to Line lock for up to 15 secs to heat tires up at the track(i'm no expert). Maybe run their tires and burnout more? Just a suggestion, bought a 2020 Gt350 two months ago, with GT500 coming in March/April. keep up the great work with your videos, my son showed me one of yours which led me to selling my SVO's and buying Shelby GT350 and now Gt500, cant wait. Wow,10.5 car running 11.5's.Traction is critical for these high hp cars.I had the same problems with my Whippled Terminator on a non prepped track.Couldn't go full throttle till 3rd gear.No use continuing.

Crazy those tires didnt hook that good. I've seen dudes with more hp hook with them. Wonder what the issue. Maybe the track and weather conditions?

I'm still scratching my head after hearing the guy in the 2014 missed 2nd, how on earth do you miss 2nd gear??? It's straight back! Maybe next time let that guy drive the 2020 Auto so we can see a proper race

Second gear is easier than you think to miss - especially with a super high hp car doing all kinds of stuff to bend and warp the alignment of things, pressure plates - etc... THAT SAID, all that talk about how many technical things there are to deal with??? I'm 57 and I have a 2010 ZR1 and I don't know what he means - I drive at the track with all nannies turned off. I do what I've ALWAYS done, which is heat the tires, find the best reliable rpm to drop the clutch and shift smooth and steady. It isn't rocket surgery! It does take practice to get good and consistent - but they are making it sound like there is some high technical knowledge needed. I feel like we have dumbed down cars so much. You can't even hardly find a manual transmission anymore!
