    Thanks for the sub and for watching! My take would be that higher Interest rates will be slowing down demand and that will cause prices to drop. IF you are looking for a good deal on a Shelby you might want to hold off until winter. (that's assuming you are not getting a loan if you are don't wait) historically that is the lowest demand time of the year for those cars. Best of luck!

    I own a 2014 gt500 your right they do have tail gears in them. But it wasn’t only to reach 200 mph but to make the quarter mile time faster. You can easily reach 55-60 mph in first gear. Ford’s thought was you would have to shift less in the quarter mile making it faster.

  • @TonysFordsandMustangs

    @TonysFordsandMustangs

    Жыл бұрын

    Appreciate the input. I think Ford was trying to get over 200 MPH as a top speed and since the the s197 isn't the most aero friendly car it required those gears to there.

  • @midnight347

    @midnight347

    Жыл бұрын

    It was definitely for the 200 mph thing and to get a better 0-60 because of no need to shift before hitting 60. As far as the quarter shorter gearing would definitely be better there provided that you have the traction to hook it. You wanna wind most of 4th out before the stripes which a 13-14 don't come close to doing with stock gearing.

    Ford engineering said they selected the 3:31 ratio on the 13-14s to help reduce wheelspin at highway speeds (see summer 2012 issues of HRM and Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords and their extensive write-ups on the then soon to be released 2013 GT 500). The latter publication eventually went on to test what installing a 3:73 gear in the 2013 did...ET dropped .5 sec).

    The rear axle gear is one thing that can be changed it's the 6 speed gearing that's really tall on the 13-14's and that was done to get the car over 200 MPH top speed.

    I love that you grouped 07-14 together. Most group 13-14 separate like it's some totally different halo car that is far superior to the earlier ones lol. It isn't. The main reason for the power is the better blower put the same blower on a 5.4 it makes comparable power. I like the 5.8 cars I just hate how their fanboys group them separate like the earlier cars aren't worthy to be mentioned together with them although many things are the same it's just more upgraded stock. The things it is better at is very easy to change on the older cars. You'll need more stuff in the aftermarket but you can afford it since the earlier cars are 10-20 grand cheaper than the overpriced 13-14 lol. Add in the fact the gearing kind of sucks on those it's a no Brainer. I prefer the iron block cars just because of the price to build or replace one is so much less. If that wasn't a factor I'd Def go 11-12 over 13-14. I prefer the 5.4 when modding and pushing it with a bigger blower etc.

    I don't have a dog in the hunt here so I was looking at things objectively and I would chose and 11-12 over a 13-14. the 13-14's transmission gears are not set up for 95% of driving that most people do and they are priced too high because of HP ratings. I don't mind the Iron block cars but they are far from the best handling car in the bunch.

    I have owned every mustang platform. 91 fox body convertible. 96 cobra. 2005 GT. 2010 Shelby. 2011 5.0. 2016 5.0 convertible. My favorite would be the 96 cobra. Light and powerful really fun to drive. Wish I had never traded it on that dog of a 2003 t bird. Lol. Right now my stable has the 2010 Grabber Blue GT500 and a triple yellow 5.0 convertible. Traded the t bird on last summer on the 2016 5.0 convertible. The 2010 GT500 is front heavy. I prefer easy cruising in it with a romp or two onto the expressway. The termec shifts so nice. Light years ahead of the 96 Cobra transmission and way better than the 2005 and 2011 5.0s I have owned. The 2016 5.0 convertible is more of a luxury car for me as it has a 6 speed automatic transmission. It really moves and on paper is very close to my 2010 GT500 in zero to 60 romps. I have kept the GT350 mostly stock. Added an SVT air intake resonator eliminator and replaced the stock air filter with a higher flow filter. Tires swapped out with more compliant Eagle F1 assymetrics. Thanks for your review as I never even thought about the heavy front end. For me I am fine with the old cast iron block over my front wheels. As style goes the 2010 to 2014 are the most iconic as the side crease reminds me of the crease in my old 1968 Galaxie 500!

    People think the 13s are so great mostly because of the power difference and the other little gimmicky things like 220 mph gauges when the car barely hits 200 with 5 miles of road and a tail wind. It is easy to get the 5.4 cars to modified 13 numbers all you gotta do is swap the blower to a 1500 dollar take off tvs from a 13 minimum or better yet a vmp blower. They will make comparable power once running the same blower and supporting mods and have the same ceiling of around 800 wheel but the 5.4 arguably holds up better at elevated power levels vs the 5.8. The gearing is too long on the 13 it's ridiculous. It might feel pretty good with some 4.10s out back and a good tire I just think the 5.4 cars are better for the money if you plan on modding. If you're gonna leave it stock and want one set up the best stock the 13 is better sorted stock but costs a good bit more respectively.

    They aren't crazy fast stock but pretty fast for a first car. With minor mods they wake up ALOT as in up to 150 rwhp from bolt ons or even more. Make sure you run a good sticky tire on it preferably a drag radial. Too many try to run big power and street tires and imo its dangerous if you're ever gonna get on it hard (which if you ain't gonna do that you bought the wrong car). They have plenty of potential don't listen to the people who bash early Shelby. They had less power stock because they were more restricted but they pick up more with mods than the later cars do. All 07-12 make same power with mods and they're even comparable to 13 and 14 when running the same blower and supporting mods. The 5.4 is very capable as sounds like sex. The tr6060 is a badass trans. Best manual ever offered in a stang stock. It's also different you don't see thsm on every street like coyotes.

    No they actually hold up well and are very reliable overall. The 07 had clutch issues but once you upgrade the clutch that doesn't matter. The 07 had a heavy lower balancer but that can easily be changed to aftermarket or a Ford 08 up gt500 one. The 07 is over 10 lbs heavier its very significant. With upgraded blowers the heavy one is more likely to break your crank snout

    This is an internet myth. They are technically the "best" stock vs stock because more power and better sorted stock but if you're gonna mod and especially if you're gonna swap the blower and make good power the 5.4 is "best" imo and most other Shelby guys agree with this. The 13-14 being superior cars is an internet myth ans your average enthusiast thinks this because of the power difference people think they have a higher ceiling and they absolutely do not. Ceiling is about the same but the 5.4 arguably holds up better at elevated power levels and the gearing inside the Trans is better on the 5.4.

    07-09 can easily make modified 11-12 numbers with bolt ons and blower swap can make modified 13-14 numbers easily. They're just more restricted stock which leads to largwr gains in the aftermarket. People act like the newer ones handle so much better and they do stock but it's still an s197 the same suspension will fit an 07-09 and better yet just get an upgraded aftermarket suspension and it'll be even better than what 10-14 cars are.

    07-09 gt500 throttle only opens 75% from the factory when they “bumped” the power in 2010 they just let throttle open fully. Anyone with a 07-09 definitely needs a tune.

  • @midnight347

    @midnight347

    Жыл бұрын

    It was the intake and tune combined that made the power bump. An 07 with intake and tune will make exactly the same as a 2012 with the same mods. Alot of people don't understand this. They think since power is less starting out that they make less in the end or have less potential. They all make the same power when running the same blower and supporting mods/fuel from 07-12 and even the 13-14 doesn't make much more than the 5.4 cars when both are running the same blower and supporting mods/fuel like I said before. People see 07-10 as bad because it has an iron block. Yes it's heavier but on a street car you won't notice it much and it's far easier and cheaper to replace if you put a window through it. The aluminum ones are very expensive and hard to find. If you buy a pre built short block iron ones are 8999 and aluminum ones are 12999 that says it all. Almost 50% more cost just because of the aluminum block. To me it ain't worth it on a street car. Built iron block cars can easily do 1000+ to the tire.

    It has more stock hp almost exclusively because of the better blower. The 5.8 aspect and slightly different cams have little to do with the overall power. You can put the same blower, pulley combo and supporting mods on a 5.4 and it'll make comparable power and little less torque but still a torque monster. The tails are the only thing i think is better about a 13 over a 2012. All the other shit like quad tips and ricer 220 mph gauges and the terrible long gearing in the Trans itself the 13s can keep that shit lol
