GT500 in the Rain - One Take
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Why would someone sell a C7 Corvette to build a GT500? One is a good all-arounder, a bang-for-buck king. The other is a straight-line brawler, with an interior simpler than blank paper. Let's find out.

First thing that came to mind when I read the title "Oh they're going to play with death". 🤷🏿♂️
Cars like this make newer models for me irrelevant. I will forgo all the niceties as great as they are to be able to own one of these. Also this is an attainable car. Great build!!!!
I am the luckiest guy. I got a GT500 back in 2012. I got the 2009 Blue with the white racing stripes. Still a thrill to drive. was going to sell it but change my mind each time i get behind the wheel.
This guy did the right mods great job man great car!!!!!
I love this gen GT500.. I too believe they're the right amount of retro and modern in styling.. these things for sure will be future classics, wish I could own one.
Thanks for watching the review of my GT500 ladies and gentleman. Here’s some details on the car: 16k Miles. -CA Legal Gen3 Whipple 2.9 Kit (675WHP/611WTQ) -McLeod RXT Clutch Kit -LFP Dual Fan/Pass Heat Exchanger -295/40/18 Hankook RS4’s Rear -275/40/18 Hankook RS4’s Front -HAWK HPS 5.0 Pads (front) -13’-14’ GT500 13.78” rear rotor swap (oem pads) -WhiteLine LCA’s -WhiteLine LCA Relocation Brackets -WhiteLine Adjustable Panhard Bar. -Koni Struts/Shocks -BMR Linear Rate GT500 Springs -Camber Bolts -Stock Exhaust Insanely fun car to say the least.

Esreal Develle I would sell it private party like I did the Vette. (I don’t trade in). Second, it’s a toss up right now between a few options in my head. Cars that float through my mind are the C8 and new GT500. Hell, I’ve even pondered about a 10r80 6th Gen ZL1 for the right price. A lot also depends on what Ford says the next generation Raptor will include (currently own an 18’ Raptor).

R_ToTheTower I see, those are great choices but for some odd reason I’m more into the older vehicles, the c8 will be great but I don’t think there would be much that the owner can do to it by their selves, gt500 are great but something about newer cars not having any soul you know? Lol I own few vehicles myself 89 325xi, 85 foxbody coupe, 07 srt8 jeep, 07 tbss and 2 2001 bmw 528i for the wife and I dd and I think my final destination may be a jeep trackhawk lol, but I say that to see this, get what you truly want rather it be slow or old and screw what people think my brother

So many good quotes in this one. I need to rewatch it and write some of them down. If you don't mind me asking, what range of fuel economy do you get from a car like this? Obviously a lot less if you are romping on it, but what about cruising around or highway?

@@lollol-xp4mc they aren't bad at handling. Simple upgrades can make a world of difference. Just shocks and nice springs with some wider sticker tires all around on some light wheels and those things alone would do wonderful in the handling department. Have you ever drove one and owned it and modified it yourself or you just repeating what everyone on the internet says? 2012 boss 302 out handled the m3 of the day stock vs stock on the road course. It's an s197 chassis solid axle manual trans mustang. There is no reason you can't make an 07-09 gt500 handle pretty damn close to or better than what a stock boss does with simple handling mods. It's little heavier in the front and that absolutely matters but people highly exaggerate how much difference that makes on a street/track car. I'm not talking about a full out race car just a fast good handling street car that you can track. There is no reason why an 07-09 gt500 can't do very well in the twisties with a few minor tweaks. He just said in this video he did good in autocross with this car for what it was. You can clearly see its handling good. It's easier just to repeat the same bs everyone online says.

It's not simple, it's clean. It's a true modern day interpretation of the classic muscle car concept. Sure, it's got modern components and you can make it better or even turn it into anything you want, but the car was designed to be a straight line dominator that you can drive on the street go to meet and greets.
Getting more used to Zack. Nice video!
Good video Zack.
So true about the c6. Dreams can be disappointing. Torque tube repair means drop the entire drive train. For those of you who don't know what that means, the entire rear of the car has to be dropped. Rear wheels, suspension, chassis, rear diff, transmission, exhaust, and finally the torque tube. This was the first thing that failed for me at less than 50k. If you do not have a shop of your own, or a good friend with a shop this is going to cost thousands. A torque tube basically connect directly to the engine, and then to the transmission in the rear. It's the drive shaft but before the transmission. It's also part of the structure of the car connecting the front to the rear. Many other little things break constantly. With this in mind the benefits of the power and handling of the c6 corvette are never realized on the street. If you were to get anywhere near its limits you would likely be arrested. If you are lucky not to be arrested at some point a crash would be in your future. There just isn't enough room on the roads for that type of driving. At least not in New Jersey. All this said, still love the corvette, but I can think of several less expensive more reliable options one can have a lot of fun driving.

I thought this was a particularly good episode, even though the rain put a damper on the driving. The discussion was full of wisdom, if you were paying attention. "It's about fun". Exactly. To expand on that, it's about fun, not numbers. The guys in the $5000 Miatas are having as much or more driving fun as anybody out there. The question of who has the fastest car by these very small margins is almost totally meaningless. A lap time advantage of a few seconds has almost zero real value, unless you are racing for money. Plus, perfect cars are boring to drive. A live-axle Mustang must be mastered. You have to know its moves and its quirks. As a hobby and a project, the fact that the handling of one of those cars can be improved dramatically with some pretty basic mods, is also fun and rewarding as a project over time. Just saying.

This right here... Idk how many times myself or a friend has been in a tuned shitbox and ran down WAY more expensive even new cars driven by people with more money then driving skill. Buying a fast car dosent make youna fast driver. Plus its my opinion anyway that if you can drive an old school live axle straight gear with some power (to weight) and handle it then you should be able to drive about anything. Before all the computer controls it was the driver doing it ALL

About 12 years ago in HS, girl I dated had a sister, her husband had a few cars. A 240sx, AE86, and a 91 Miatia with a tdo5h 16g turbo on the stock 1.6 with some head work. Car made about 300hp but as light as it would effin fly. I know on a slightly curvy road it passed and put lenghts on a friends LS1 WS6 Trans Am. Not bad for a 175k mile 1.6l that costed about 5gs to build start to finish counting buying the car and everything needed to turbo it. Another friend had an AE86 also, his had a built engine but instead of turbo he ran nitrous. Normally it was a regular car. Turn the nitrous on and a 75 shot to a 4AGE is a LOT lol. Even without the No2 it was the best handling, most fun car ive ever driven. Im pretty decent but not the best driver in the world by far. The way it was set up tho even I could drift it on dry pavement like I knew what I was doing LOL

The only other modification I would personally purchase is the BMR Anti Hop Wheel kit, which I did not hear get mentioned. Corvettes can be menacing, but nothing feels like a good ol' supercharged pony car, especially one intentionally overbuilt from the factory. This 5.4l v8 is virtually an iron block version of the 5.4l v8 that debuted in the 05'-06' Ford GT. These motors are bullet proof so long as boost remains at 19psi or below AND a good tune is used. I know these engines with the 2.9l Whipple, as featured on his car, easily push 725+ crank horsepower at a conservative/safe 17psi. These cars are classics, priced right, built to last, & tuner friendly. What more could an enthusiast ask for?

It would destroy a manual one I beat a 10r80 car by 5+ cars it had similar mods to my 07 gt500. It had intake exhaust 93 Lund tune my gt500 had intake, pulley, exhaust, throttle body, 410s and tune. Even if the 19 wound have been on e I'd have still beat it and if it was manual vs manual it would be alot worse. Most gt500 owners can't drive for shit. "I built this car for autocross and road course." I can't roll my eyes hard enough. Why would you sell a c7 and buy a mustang if this is the cars use? Any autocross and tight technical tracks like Laguna Seca I betcha he would have been faster in the c7. Assuming both cars had the same tires... in the correct size 🤣

Theplatinumog The amount of nannies the C7 has masks some of the shortcomings of shitty drivers. Been there, done that, I was over the M7 C7 breaking something every 4th-5th track day. The GT500 is a handful and with a little bit of money in the right places it’ll surprise the most experienced of drivers at how compliant and predictable it is in turns. The GT500 will quickly let you know if you’re not as good of a driver as you think you are, unlike in the C7. In addition to that, no one bats an eye at a run of the mil C7. I have more fun in the GT500 with what I’ve done to it than I ever did even in my 470WHP 3,200lb C7 and in the end that’s what it’s all about, FUN.

@@R_Tower I would love to see it. I am a performance driving instructor. If you ever find yourself at Sonoma raceway, Thunderhill, or Laguna Seca, be sure to give me a heads up. I guess I kinda agree with what your saying... but compared to my fast car your mustang and my c7 are both slow on a road course. My Noble m400 makes 460 to the wheels and weighs 2300lbs. No a.b.s. or stability control of any kind... and believe me, my Noble turns more heads than your "run of the mill" mustang.

@@R_Tower Neither would be my choice for a "road course and autocross" car. I would be genuinely suprised if it was faster in autocross than a c7

@@R_Tower What nannies are you referring to? I run in PTM race (even with clients in the car) and can't feel much, if any help coming in.

@@theplatinumog3283 a gt500 ain't a run of the mill mustang clown. Being a driving instructor doesn't give you more common sense you're clearly lacking there.
Sack still hasn’t gotten any less cringey I see.

Hahaaa! So true.
You should put "Matt" and "Zack" in the title, so I know which videos I should ignore.

Matt does modern production cars, Zack does older modified cars. You should be able to tell the difference from the title and/or thumbnail. Also Matt is kind of a douche, Zack is funny and seems a lot more down to earth.

Pretty sad that you haven't figured out by now that Matt is only doing press cars, I immediately can tell just by the vehicle name in the title who I'll be watching. Kick rocks, dummy.

Your skateboarding videos get less than 2k views. You’re an expert on being “ignored”, Jerry. Keep up the good work😂
