Hey I took it as Chevy named it Custom, because that's what they wanted you to do to it. A blank canvas that allows it to be yours, not some mass produced package.

Hey Matt awesome videos. I have the identical 2021 truck you do could you please let me know the part numbers for the steering wheel and the cluster and where you purchased from. Also the two pins needed for the can bus wire that needs to be added. I need to get this done ASAP I miss this feature I had in my last Silverado LT. And know body at the dealer could help me with adding this they say it cannot be done. Well you proved them wrong. Next project adding the auto A/C. Thanks for all you do

Hey bud thanks for the info but I installed the new cluster and the harness from Dr Harness. And I can control the menu on the cluster but I can't control the radio volume or presets. Any answers?

Finally somebody who goes further than I do, lol. Got the 21' 2500 Custom and was researching to see how hard it was to add the radio control to the steering wheel. You didn't try it before you added the wire did you ? I got a feeling the radio control pin was already there it was plug and play as why would it be going to the cluster? It is an option on the Custom so I'm thinking its just already there in the event the option is added by a customer. Love your attitude, mods and channel. Pretty sure you will be huge eventually as you have good onscreen appeal - Thx

Thanks Michael!!! I actually did test the system without the wire. Well actually what happened was it didn't work, and I found out the wire wasn't inserted far enough. Pushed it all the way in and then it worked. Thanks again for your nice comments.

Hi, Did the factory trim not match the new steering wheel and that's why you changed it out? If so can you post the part number for it a place you purchased it from if different than the place you ordered the wheel from. Thanks. Great video!

Did the wire from the HarnessDr come with everything needed to plug and play, or did you need some extra parts for it to fit into the pins?

Do you mean modify the base model wheel? You could order the buttons and harness to put in your existing wheel. You would just need to remove the blank off plates and assemble the harness and buttons. You will still need to add the wire between the cluster and wheel.

I was wondering if I still need the extra wire to run the radio because I’m not changing out the cluster on my 2500 custom

If you don't change the cluster, the radio will not function. The cluster actually sends and receives the signals to from the wheel to the stereo. The custom cluster will not work to do this.

I have a 2020 Chevy custom , can I just change the lt or Ltz cluster and steering wheel instead the high country and the radio buttons will work ?

Maybe, I haven't experimented with the clusters from those trims.

I always want to doing that but never get the parts even in the dealer they says you can’t doing that bla bla bla bla, so please keep posting the parts thank you so much

I’ve done this on my 2020 3500 duramax lt with a high country cluster for duramax works great Have a complete dash from a high country with complete iOS infotainment and the heads up display Would like to talk to you about some things

Tried this in my 2022 2500hd custom. I can not get my steering wheel to control the radio or the cluster. Only option that works is the cruise control. Would you have any info to help me get mine going? My truck is a custom with the 6.6L gas burner

Very nice video . I have I 2021 Silverado 1500 Custom like yours with IOR 7 inch car stereo. My question is How much is the cluster and from where you bought the steering wheel and how much you pay for Steering wheel.

The 2500 should be the same, I'll look for the PIN out diagrams and see if there are any differences.

Definitely the same I’ve done this in my 2020 3500 hd trim LT with a high country cluster in it and swapped steering wheel as well I have an extra brand new cluster in the box with part of the connector pins and wiring ready to go

Hey Matt a customer showed me you video and ordered a high country steering wheel. I installed it. He didn't upgrade the cluster, so the steering wheel controls for the radio doesn't work. I just want confirmation that he does need to change the cluster in order for the radio controls to work. This is a 21 Custom

Yes, the cluster must be changed and programmed to the truck. The signal is transmitted through the cluster.

No, the cluster has to be upgraded as it actually controls the stereo.
