I towed a 39’ 2019 Work And Play 30QBS with my 2015 F250 Powerstroke with a Pro Pride 3P hitch. It needed 600 lbs of plate steel in the front cargo compartment to offset the weight of my RZR in the garage. Ultimately ended up going with a F350 DRW to eliminate the sway. 3/4 tons are great but toy haulers that large are a challenge in any wind at all.

I observed as you were turning from an intersection to descend the hill with the exhaust brake that it appears whom ever created the route did a good job. The reason for my comment was that starting a descent slowly and easing up to a controlled speed with the exhaust brake managing the rpm and keeping the rig held back is the correct and proper way to descend a grade while loaded, even an ascent up a grade and cresting the top while slowing down to descend the other side to manage speed without over rpm’ing your engine and riding the brakes is very important. Your explanations and comments are very accurate and informative especially on this video.

We started with the twin to the torque with a 1500 Silverado. Got it home white knuckles. Upgrade to 17 f250. It pulled it ok. Put with two Harley’s in the garage it had a tendency to sway and in a cross wind you just had to pull over. Have since moved on to highlander toy hauler 5th wheel. Now looking to upgrade to 450 in the next couple months. Your videos have been awesome helping with some of our choices. Thanks.

My dad always told me and my brother that you can really never have to big of a truck ( speaking of regular type not 18 wheelers ) but you can have to smaller or light duty of a truck. As in if you tow a car trailer once or twice a year a half ton is probably ok but a 3/4 ton better and pulling a toyhauler 3/4 ton is good but a dually is best

There are "1/2" Ton trucks out there that are quite heavy... That first trailer towed doesn't require a 3/4 or 1 Ton. But, if it gives you peace of mind... to each his own. That 6.7 is ridiculously nice.

You should add that this specific F250 has the heavy tow package, which is why its GVWR was 10,800lbs. It adds the axle and rear leaf spring pack from the 350. This truck without the HDTP would have a GVWR of 10,000lbs and a payload cap of around 2000lbs. It is very nice to have this option on the F250 but for the same money as this package cost you can move to the 350. Thank you for these videos though as they are extremely helpful for those of us that are in the market for a new truck!

Going up mountains wasn't the best, but it still wasn't worth going to a diesel. Have a 2016 2500HD 6.0 now and tow a Rockwood 5th wheel ultralight that weighs about 10,000 now. Tows much better, of course its a completely different setup.

It had a 350 vortec. No problem. Newer diesels are just prone to expensive repairs. My father in law had a 6.0 superduty that thing never towed anything and was always in the shop.

And very good to see it being towed by only a 2500 series even though I have a 3500. 2- Ford is really making me consider trading in my Ram for theres. Events like these which allow people to actually test their trucks with real loads show how much they back them.

Evan, I have a 2018 torque T322 that I purchased new two years ago. It's a decent trailer that I have not had any issues with it. Just like any other trailer there is give and take. Master bedroom is a bit small, but the second half bath is worth every penny when you have 3 boys. Two years ago when I purchased the trailer I had a 2013 F250 4x4 short bed. It pulled the trailer well without any issues. I have since upgraded truck to a 2018 F450 4x4 and I can honestly say the difference is night and day. The 450 is probably way more truck than you need but its always better to have too much than not enough.

DRW is the way to go, the 10 spd transmission is a great set up for these type of weights. This truck can tow it, but doesn’t mean you should. Most people don’t even know how to calculate how much weight they can tow or that there is a way you should calculate what your towing weight wise. Most guys just buy a truck and figure they can tow whatever they an put on a hollow Reese hitch 😂. What were the RPMs when using the exhaust brake auto mode?

When we bought work trucks we actually did get a couple gassers. We do have a 250 with the 6.2. It’s a 4x4 crew cab long box (all of them are actually), and it does just fine with the equipment trailers at 15,000 and the ditch witch at 12,000. It won’t set a land speed record, but should anyone be trying to tow a trailer that fast? My state has 65 for highway speed limits, nobody cares if you can’t go 70. Now the guy who drives it has tripped the camera system at 85 towing an excavator. So... I’d say yes. It doesn’t struggle at all.

James McLamb an easy solution is to pull your seatbelts, send them out to have them rebuilt. Fixes the problem. I did it all the time in fleet service, sometimes to brand new trucks before we even got the plates for them. So while I was doing the upfit the rebuild happened and they got installed and I put the cabs back together and the guy who got assigned it never knew.

Honestly depending on tongue weight requirements, sometimes a full fresh water tank is just the ticket for safe towing. Each setup is different. If I’ve learned one thing towing campers with different trucks, it’s that there are no absolutes.

Why do you keep repeating 1/2 ton truck, when you are in a 3/4 ton truck? That's really annoying!!! It took you more than 6 minutes to tie into a 3/4 ton truck. Are there really people out there that can afford the longer, heavier trailers that don't already know that your going to need a 3/4 or 1 ton, even dually to handle that size/weight trailer safely?

John Irwin the 6.7 turbo diesel is a great high altitude engine. I live in Colorado and pull my travel trailer over 11,000+ passes on a regular basis. I will not two at altitude with a naturally aspirated engine if I can help it. That being said, if I lived at a lower elevation I would prefer the new 7.3.

The F250 and 350 are nearly identical trucks except for a leaf in the rear and now a minor suspension height drop. Ford saw that they can sell a $10k engine upgrade with no engineering effort and went with it.

I use to tow a friend's 30ft 10,000lb BBQ trailer with a Silverado 1500 and it was the sketchiest thing to do, especially in Colorado. If I owned that business, I'd have nothing less than a 3/4 ton or 1 ton dually
