Watch u17 european indoors fastest guy went like 6:45 and rest were like 7:30-8:00

I just did 7:19 min today, I would be 19th, BUT im 34 years old :( This sport is awesome

It makes me nervous just WATCHING this

On an erg it is a common technique if you are strong enough to do it and can bare the arm pain. What works on an erg does not always work on water. But on an erg all you care is pulling as hard as possible, with no concerns on balance. Pulling early with arms allows you to engage lats and apply pressure early, giving a slight advantage. Think how many ergs you see with a big lean back drawing the handle to the chin. It is a similar concept. Instead of increasing the length you shorten it but with more pressure applied early.

Probably 5 it's usually what rowers use to train to emulate the resistance of water.

the level doesn’t actually change the split/time, it just changes the feel and is changed to certain levels to make it more realistic
