wowh .... mind boggling. And applaus to Cuban Angel Fournier Rodriguez. Unluckily Cuba's greatest oarsman died of a heart attack in 2023 on March 16 at age 35 in Dallas, a three-time Olympian. May he R.I.P.

Thank you World Rowing greatly appreciated excellent to watch and listen from these champion oars people. I'm a 60 y.o. Kiwi [New Zealander] and watched many events live on our Sky Sport pay tv package. Get the impression most competitors love racing at Lucerne. I rowed at the Invercargill Rowing Club from 1981 to 1986 18-23 through the men's grades, novice, intermediate, and senior. My best results were in lightweight 4+/-, 2+ then we combined with our club heavyweight 4 crew to form a very competitive 8+ unbeaten locally in '84, many other club 8+s were gutted as they were heavier yet still couldn't beat us lol...Would be fair rowing was the best team sport for me that taught me most of life's most valuable lessons. I needed them too when I had my near-death motorcycle accident in 1990 at 26. Spent 101 days in hospital, a month in the ICU. Lost my entire left leg as high up as possible at the hip and pelvis. Suffered several serious internal injuries as well. V fortunate to survive. All surgeons/doctors believed my high fitness level saved my life. At the time I was a successful competitive road cyclist, biathlete, triathlete, and marathon runner. One of my favourite races at this regatta was the Men's Single Sculls - wow what a race between Germany's Olli Zeidler and the Netherlands' Simon Van Dorp. One of the greatest Men's Single Sculls Finals I have ever seen at a World Rowing Cup regatta. Both great champions were giving it their all and Van Dorp wouldn't let Zeidler get out of his sights this time. Van Dorp was like a lion hunting down his/its prey in the last quarter...I love the interview here at 4:11 with Van Dorp who really sculled the race of his entire life. Can't wait for the Olympic final now it will one of the greatest mind games in rowing history. Congratulations to the Canadian Women's Eight too who could have perhaps upset Great Britain Women's Eight, and again looking forward to Paris Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium where the girls will duke it out once more.
