2019 Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 Test Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Leading up to our test of the 2019 Polaris Sportsman XP 1000, The past two seasons have brought about a number of small, but significant, changes, along with a rival that has been dramatically improved. Have Polaris’ updates been enough to keep the Sportsman competitive? Watch on and find out.
The Sportsman XP 1000 Premium Edition, new for 2019. We selected it since it is the most comparable model to our Limited Edition 2017 test quad, making evaluating updates easier. The Premium Edition features an upgrade from 26” to 27” tires, LED, 3rd brake light, cut and sewn seat cover, and painted plastic like our 2017 LE model. The Premium Edition also features a front bumper and 3,500 HD winch.
The fact that the Sportsman is such a capable worker gives you an extra reason to purchase a machine that most want for its virtually unrivaled fun factor. It should certainly be a top choice for the power hungry rider looking for a comfortable ATV to put on lots of miles.

    Role Rolika yes it's super cool the gauge pod links to you phone by Bluetooth then flashing red to blue and then shows the name or number of the caller or text messages and show the text messages also show phone battery and shows Bluetooth name in the phone when the key is turn on. So I put my name Love my wife name in the phone then had her to turn the key and look at the gauge it said... I Love her ,she was freaking out then she said for $12,000 it better say something.

    Yes, it was a great comment. This video suffers greatly with its loss. I think our response was something like, we hope Polaris reduces the power steering assist at high speeds in the future. Tires and handlebars are an easy switch. We have heard nothing official about the Scrambler 1000 but with Polaris keeping the 850 in their lineup for 2019 we would suspect they're cooking up something.

    Love the video! Looking for a review on the sportsman 850 sp premium. The 850 premium seems to have everything the 1000 xp does excluding 12 horsepower and a 3rd brake light. The biggest question i have: is the suspension the same between the 2019 sportsman 850 and xp 1000? Looking for the smoothest ride without having to spend that extra coin. The xp 1000 looks buttery smooth in this video. I know the new xp 1000 s has upgrades to the suspension but wont fit on my trailer being 55 inches wide lol thanks!

    Without us emailing Polaris product development team, we are pretty sure that the suspension between the 850 in the 1000 years virtually the same if not completely identical. Unless all you want to do is put on the biggest mud tires available, the 850 is more than fast enough for most humans. Every Polaris Sportsman we have ever reviewed has a very plush ride.

    Thanks for staying un-Bias, in your opinion are Polaris cvt as trouble some as most people say? Polaris says they have the best cvt in the industry but so does Yamaha?

  • @ATVonDemand

    @ATVonDemand

    4 жыл бұрын

    In our opinion, no. We have put a lot of miles on some Polaris side by sides and test rider Chad Westcott has a sportsman 1000 that has 1800 miles on it with the original belt. We believe that many of the problems people Report with Polaris CVT transmissions are because number one, they don't shift it into low range when they are riding at low speeds for prolonged periods of time. Number two, lots of people add bigger heavier Wheels because they look cool, never recalibrate their clutch to work with those larger heavier Tire Service, then complain that Polaris CVTs are junk. We would have to say that there's less chance of cooking you belt in a Yamaha because it has a centrifugal clutch. This allows the belt to stay under constant tension without slipping. The drawback to yamaha's CVT is that it is not as tunable as the Polaris. You can really make a Polaris CVT crack hard off the bottom. With a Yamaha, the centrifugal clutch makes that difficult.

    On your 19 outlander vid I brought up the CFMOTO cforce 800, I just got back from a ride and test, ran into one of these out on the trail and did some runs together. I wasn’t very far behind...that 65hp kept up with the 90hp Polaris pretty good thanks to good clutching. The sportsman would get me above 50 mph every time of course but 0-50 I was only 3 lengths behind by the time I clocked 50 on the 800. The big equalizer was traction, even 4wd on dirt/gravel the Polaris had a hard time hooking up, on paper it should be dominating but real world in loose type terrain in a drag race it really didn’t pull to hard on me. I’m sure 90hp is fun to do rolling burnouts but when traction is an issue at low speeds that power doesn’t matter if it can’t hook up. Not saying my 800 is better btw...

    They certainly look like decent machines. Considering we work directly with every major manufacturer on the market we are a bit surprised that they have not asked us to review one of their machines yet. We certainly would like to. With speed being only one aspect, how do you think your machines suspension compares? Yours certainly sounds good.

  • @tittledieselperformancellc

    @tittledieselperformancellc

    ATVonDemand the spring rates are too stiff. In a shoot out with the Polaris the Polaris would win in suspension hands down. Vs the can am I’d give the can am a few points more but not by much. The CF is identical to the outlander suspension, the spring rate is what really hurts it, mostly in the back but it’s also a 2-up. The rear suspension does have one flaw with its geometry mixed with spring rate, if you hit a jump or ledge as the suspension compressed just before you get air the rear suspension unloads rapidly and pogo’s forward so you tend to land nose down which isn’t fun at all. It can be offset with rebound adjustment in the back but too much and it starts to ride too stiff. They run a multi rate spring, that seems to be most of the issue. I plan to switch to a single rate which should smooth it out a lot. The outlander rear spring rates are soft enough to avoid that feeling but with enough preload in the back on the base shocks you start to feel that action. Trailing arm problems... but overall I think it’s a good setup. If I had to pick CFMOTO vs Canam for full blown racing or competition I’d probably shy away from CFMOTO just for weight and factory suspension. But a little parts swapping and it’s a outlander with different badges really.

  • @tittledieselperformancellc

    @tittledieselperformancellc

    5 жыл бұрын

    ATVonDemand I think part of why they haven’t asked is CFMOTO seems to be a company that doesn’t really push outward marketing like Polaris, can am, Yamaha etc. they seem to take a more laid back approach with marketing. There corporate ladder is kind of weird too, there hard to get ahold of directly. I think the best way to get in touch is threw a dealer, if they can give you a number or send a message threw there website and hope someone reads it. I think there more focused on dealerships currently then overall major marketing and reviewing. You would be there top reviewer if you could get ahold of them. Oh and the 400-500 ATV’s with non adjustable shocks, don’t expect much from them, but the upper end big bore types are good. Price to what you get is pretty great but there not super over engineered chassis and suspensions, they ride stiff but overall very solid. Chassis is very...very solid, brakes are pretty weird at first but really good over all. Drivelines are great as well very over built. There heavier in general but doesn’t really feel heavy. I hope to put up a owners review and go threw design and engineering soon, when I do I’ll message y’all so you can get some insight into it also

For the love of ATVs use compressed sealed bushings ! Lol good gosh . I have a 12 brute as well and there’s obvious quality differences. For what the outlander or xp 1ks cost there’s simply no excuse to not be engineered to max quality ........unless oh wait they want to make money off parts lol.

    Joe Kearney here is something that’ll not help, Polaris gear engagement in the differentials is purposely set too loose causing the pinion to skip on the ring gear. Commonly called ratcheting, if you ever have to rebuild the diff you can shim it back properly in the center of the ring tooth but the idea is to strip the differential to sell another after the warranty is up. I had one that trashed the diff at 300 miles, hardly used 4wd so it never had a real load on it. Totally unacceptable, and the warranty....doesn’t mean anything. They deny all claims for mechanical failures do to purposeful design flaws, corporate Polaris just says it’s “owner abuse” regardless if it’s a day old or not. After about 2010 model years during a corporate change over the new CEO decided to turn the company into a rip off type business. I ended up rebuilding and reshimming both differentials to remove the flaw which fixed the issue. If you hear the clicking or ratchet sound you better pull the drain plug and check for metal chunks. Mine never made the noise and yet still stripped a ring tooth because the ring gear was so far away from the pinion. Polaris poor engineering will bite you, pay very close attention to everything and hope you got one of the 20% that are actually decent

    Tittle Diesel Performance LLC Dear lord I’m sick to my stomach now . Wish the Japanese would build a 1000 so bad . Makes me mad. Joe Kearney yup that’s marketing. And legally they can do it because it creates money and tax revenue. It’s a fucked up world for sure... I ended up with a CFMOTO Cforce 800, if you go to look at SXS or ATV’s in the future and come across them give it a look. There is a few changes that can be made like springs and tires but there very well engineered machines, they stand behind there product and reliability wise there on par with Japanese OEM’s. It’s a china brand but not your typical Chinese product. I hope your Polaris works well for you though, I’ve seen some units that end up being extremely reliable and well mannered but most of them have failures do to purposeful engineering flaws. Take care of it the best you can. Weak links in the sportsman’s are the factory battery, front differential pinion bearing (may have been fixed on the 18-20 years I’m not 100% on that) axle shafts are pretty weak but that’s intentional to keep the differentials and transmission alive, and in some cases they are known to have electrical bugs primarily with the power steering unit. Suggestion, don’t lift it, don’t put larger then like a 28” tire on and if you find yourself taking flight make sure to let off the throttle for the landing. That’s the number one killer of drivelines, coming down on throttle delivers a massive driveline shock load, that’s where differentials and such have there most damage. Get a few fluid changes in and take care of it, you maybe the lucky guy. Good luck man

    Can anyone who's owned one of these tell me about the reliability of these machines and if they're worth the purchase. I've been a honda guy all my life when it comes to utility quads and I currently have a foreman rubicon 520 and i love it but im thinking about investing in a big bore atv so i can have more speed and power and use it as my recreational quad, and i'm gonna keep my rubicon and use it more as my work quad...however i hear that polaris quads aren't very reliable at all so it has me skeptical. I don't expect it to be ultimately as reliable as honda but fixing a little issue here and there won't really bother me if thats the case but i hear some say that they aren't even comparably reliable and they have countless issues, but most of those who tell me that also do a lot of hardcore mudding which i don't plan to be doing

    You can spend $1000000 on a sports car. Does that stop people from buying $25,000 cars? You can easily spend $5000000 on a house. Does that stop people from buying $150,000 houses? There are many great ATV on the market for around half the price of this machine but delivered 95% of the fun unless your idea of fun is seeing who can go the fastest and a flat straight line. In that case, we would recommend buying a used Banshee. As long as manufacturers like Polaris continue to make more affordable machines at reasonable prices there is nothing they can do about people who would rather pout about not being able to afford a $13,000 ATV then go buy something they can afford and have fun. If you would like some recommendations for some fun affordable models please let us know.

    If your not buying a highlighter Polaris 1000 your wasting your money and time I know countless people who have purchased this piece of shit this year and have returned for a highlighter or a honda ...this machine will stay in the shop until your mechanics let u know there isn't a fix for the wireing harness and the battery constantly draining also the fuel system pump goes out at a awful rate and these axles are weak as fuck the cv joints are brittle as crap. Don't believe me fine purchase it and u will learn the hard way .and it's not worth the money your going to spend on it.

    A couple things to unpack here. First, are we talkin like a highlighter pen not sure why you're trying to compare an ATV to a neon green magic marker but those are pretty reliable. If you're talking about the Sportsman highlifter Edition, what makes it so much better? It's still manufactured by Polaris. If we were going to do normal trail riding a vast majority of the time, we would not want a mud machine. Also, this is KZread, please keep the comments PG. Have you owned a sportsman 1000? How do you know they have this many problems? We're not saying you don't know what you're talkin about just trying to get more backstory.

    Joshua Long ever since I got familiar with Polaris’s from early 2000, they have been nothing but a electrical problems all the time. My brother even bought a 1100cc Indian bike same fuckin problems. Starter, alternator and to small of a battery.

    That may have been true in the past. As far as my experiance with our 2008 400 HO a 2016 570 and 2019 touring 570 they have all been flawless minus belt maintenance. Which is not exclusive to Polaris, rather a known problem with cvt's. As far as plastics go, I would suggest you measure the thickness of the fenders on a foreman or Can Am outlander and Sportsman 570, the polaris is easily 1.5x thicker plastic if not more.

    I wish you guys would stop the images of high speed trail riding and jumping over dunes and such. First, it promotes dangerous driving. Second, most people do not drive their $10 000 machines that way. And Third, owners who follow your example are going to be handed a nasty bill after putting their new ATV into the dealer for repairs.

  • @frankdawe5156

    @frankdawe5156

    @@ATVonDemand First of all, "driving fast" is not the same as jumping dunes and flying around blind turns. Have you never heard of people getting seriously injured or even killed in head on collisions around blind turns? Your video promotes that irresponsible behaviour. But to answer your question, I need a powerful machine that can rock climb difficult trails, carry heavy loads, and tow small trailers. I have NO interest in killing myself, or anybody else on the trail. You need to show some responsibility.
