Also, i just want to add how happy i am to hear college gymnastics is the ultimate dream and focus for these gymnasts, rather than the olympics. So exciting!!! Im a parent and a 35+ yr fan of this sport. Exciting time to be a fan. Just thrilled for these young ladies that their focus is on grades and obtaining a college scholarship!

I love Nastia as a gymnast and as a commentator.

Same thing - editors, WHY do we have to stay FIXED on the face of the next contestant or the previous one or the coach. We could see twice as many performances!

That pink suit is amazing!

Why won’t they show more gymnasts competing rather than gymnasts standing around, waiting their turn, walking around, or drinking water? No other sport is covered this way. These girls earned a spot at this meet, and they ALL deserve to be acknowledged and have some time on the screen. This is not the Olympics, we don’t need to see their reactions to scores because JO athletes aren’t fixating on the scores. You’re covering this like you cover elite Level with heart-tugging background stories, reactions, and replays, and not covering more gymnasts. Please learn how to broadcast this sport! It’s not that hard to show competitors doing gymnastics rather than competitors standing around and cheering and talking or doing nothing. ITS SO FRUSTRATING! Will you please listen to the fans about this? (I’ve been watching for 15 min and have only seen 4 routines! COME ON!)

imissnj2 as in any other competitions they only show the real competitors in the running. Watching big competitions smaller countries gymnasts are almost never shown.

I don't disagree but it is also a TV program and the need ratings and the stories pull in a different type of viewership. You can always watch the live feed that USAG usually puts up if you wanna see every single thing.

Jillian Hoffman's floor routine. WOW.

Finally! A version of this competition that has commentators and we know who is up on what apparatus. The last video I saw said so and so is up on such and such event followed by this other person from this gym. And that's not who was on the screen, and it's not who they showed next. And the scores that flashed weren't for who had just gone, cuz the event wasn't right. It was a complete mess. I didn't even finish watching it. Got half way through, if that. This however I look forward to seeing. Yay!

Makarri's Doggette's floor score was a joke! So much height and beautiful form and execution and it was very underscored! Should have been at least a 9.7 but the floor judges were kind of tough.

They said in the broadcast there are 18 qualifiers around the country for this and you have to be invited from a qualifier to compete here. Whitney probably didn't compete in one

I have a question about competing on the podium. My niece got a chance to this past spring and noted how different it was (she said the beam moved just from walking on it!). Anyway, since elite gymnasts are in the same gyms as lower level gymnasts, are they able to workout on equipment set up on podiums or do they just have to use the practice time at each competition to adjust to the equipment?

I wonder how many gymnastics competitions there are each year the world over.... and how many tiny one time use plastic cups they throw away.... if those were all recycled....if all one time use plastic cups at all sporting events were recycled.... wow

So impressed with Gladieaux (sp?) on beam! Im only 34 min in, but wow does she look amazing on beam!!!! She looks so comfortable, every movement looked fluid, not that staccato crap we have become accustomed to in elite. I love her look on this event! So excited to see her on the other 3.

You can do two. The only tumbling special requirements are a two salto pass and end with a salto of c or more value

U have to watch to starting score then the deductions. They deducted for everything. When the feet or hands touch they start deducted.

it´s sad to see the lack of artistry in a big number of gymnasts. most of them are unable to sell a performance or even to dance without using robotic moves. how special was it to see a very young morgan hurd in past editions selling a routine from start to finish with a lot of personality and dancing skils! more than a critic to this amazing, hard working athletes, it is a critic to the usa program for not paying enough attention to artistry. in the last OG russia, rebeca andrade, the gadirova sisters and many others, showed that artistry is important.i dont mean dancing like prima ballerinas, but please, they need some dance fundation.

What’s he point of giving *all* gymnasts an opportunity, yet showing all of the seniors? There were times where there were long shots of the audience members, standing around & even showing the judges having computer errors 🙄😒😑. Please hire better producers. Gymnasts have such a small window in their careers, it would be nice to see upcoming talent EARLY. Keep it moving...most people’s attention spans aren’t this long (especially with lower difficulty). We could be watching floor while you’re waiting for a score 🙄😒😑. Thank GOD this is on KZread (Fast FORWARD). NO WAY could I watch this live. Take some elements from Glasgow..and you could grow your fan base.

I think this often happens when athletes stop training as much themselves . They are probably used to eating a high calorie diet in order to have the energy to train, and when they stop training as much the weight comes on.

Not just that, but also it's not safe to be wearing loose fitting clothes. I hated even wearing the sleeved leotards because it's already so hot when working out, and gymnastics is one heck of a workout. I can understand your concern, but think also about the drag of wearing more modest uniforms, like in swimming. It's not as much, but the air will still cause some drag, especially if in clothes. You need the least resistance possible when flying through the air doing those flips. :) Edit: grammar corrections

They wear these so the judges can see full extension of the muscles. It is very obvious if the legs are not fully stretched in leos, not so with shorts or pants

@ Liz Miller men's and women's gymnastics are graded very differently. Men's Gymnastics are about power, athleticism, and pure strength whereas Women's Gymnastics are about technique, grace, balance, and artistry. For example, the women are critiqued for posture, the angle of their hips, positioning of their legs, etc. Not so for men. They are judged on different things. So the girls wear skin-tight clothing so they can't hide their posture, hips, etc. Of course, leotards aren't exactly required by the FIG or IOC. Its is just traditional. They can wear full-body suits. Google what the German Women's Gymnastic Team wore to Tokyo 2020. That being said, the various nations will provably want their teams to match, so if one doesn't want to wear the leotard but the other girls do, tough luck probably.
