This is how you design a car. It’s not a jaw dropping car but it’s mature and neat in its styling.......like luxury cars.....not like a cheap over-styled high school kid ricer. If you look at Honda and Toyota, they all look ridiculous with big gaping grilles and fake vents. You could easily slap a VW or Audi badge on this car and it could pull it off.....sort of. Kia is keeping the slim and neat car design recipe of the 90s. Remember when Hondas had one slim tail light.... and accords with flip up lights and small grill and car bodies were streamlined? Those were the good ol’ days.

The 2019 Avalon(comically massive grille) and the 2018 Accord (Hideous, overstyled) are the last straw for me. Even Hyundai fell for the massive grille craze. Kia's designers show that you can still make good looking cars without massive grilles and over-styling just for the sake of a redesign.

I agree with everyone here who complains about Kia adding the CVT. But let's face it. Most people buying this class of car are more concerned about comfort and MPG's than anything else. Honda and Toyota use CVT's and people still buy them. Now Kia makes a nicer car, in my opinion, AND it gets great fuel economy. But if it were my money, I'd wait for the sport model of this coming next year. Turbo engine, independent rear suspension and the 7 speed DCT. Gonna be awesome in this car!

Well then these people are going to have a really hard time buying a newer vehicle because I hate to say this but cvts are the way of the future and people need to quit being so close-minded about that transmission. Do I like it. Cvt transmission no but as long as it gets my vehicle going from point A to point B and doesn't break in process I don't give a darn.

They're using CVT's now.

Outside North America this car will be available with the old six speed auto and a more powerful 2.0 at about 168 hp. The IVT and the detuned 2.0 are required to set fuel economy standards for the US. I understand that next year there will be a 1.6 turbo model coming with a dual clutch. That should be fun. It might even come with a fully independent rear ending. It really will be a mini Stinger then. I have a 2015 Forte 5 with the 2.0 and the six speed auto with paddle shifters. The 2.0 develops 173 hp and is a great car to drive and fantastic value for money. I’ll wait for the 1.6 turbo before I upgrade and I hope that model comes with a hatch back too.

Most people they don’t know, they don’t care what kind of automatic it is. They just wanna put in “D” and go. CVT are bad, generally are not reliable, they are all garbage. Ask to any mechanic. U save 2mpg versus a manual transmission but than u spend a lot of money in maintenance or rebuilt it after 100k miles. Worth it ? I personally prefer traditional automatic rather than a CVT. Or get a manual, even if u burn the clutch is not a big deal to replace it

CVT can not be rebuilt. Must be replaced. Average cost to replace a cvt. 10.000 dollars. That's a car killer. By time they fail, car isn't usually worth that much. Regular automatic rebuild runs around 4.000 dollars. However, this now coming with a chain instead of a belt, may make them much more durable. Time will tell.

Every other reviewer says it’s has a bigger headroom in the rear because of the design which is actually larger than even the civic sir. More options even in the base model more than Corolla & civic for the same or less money. Japanese and Korean manufacturers- Mostly Kia/ Hyundai are winning in the family sedan market. Beating Volkswagen Jetta, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3, Chevy Cruze, Dodge Dart, Chrysler 200, Nissan Sentra, Ford Focus. Full & midsize family sedans like Kia Optima & Hyundai Sonata are also beating Camry, Accord, Mazda, Subaru, Malibu, Fusion, Chrysler, Charger in many categories including the price and longtime warranty because they are confident in their products. American manufacturers can’t dare to offer 10 yr warranty because they know their sedans will fall apart by the 3rd year that’s why you see their products on rental fleets or police vehicles since they don’t keep them long.lol American manufacturers like Ford & Chrysler have been completely given up and pulled out of the segment. If you get rear ended, yeah. But even if they were up with the tail lights, in a rear end collision, they'd probably be smashed anyway.

Cvt’s are garbage. I’d never buy anything with a cvt. Sure it’s slightly more efficient than a conventional automatic but you will also be rebuilding that transmission far sooner than a conventional automatic which will cost more than any gas you might have saved.

I had this exact problem when looking for a new small car. Either CVT (ew) or Twin Clutch (no good for peak traffic and low speed manuvering). Thankfully the Kia Forte sold my my country is sold with a traditional 6sp auto. Shame we don't get that awesome blue colour or ventilated seats from the EX variant though.

Save your money dont buy the cvt get a manual if you really want the forte. Check the forums fortes and the souls are having big time problems with cvt transmission they are going to be the next nissan.
