2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome to the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. The Japanese brands latest addition to their SUV line-up. The Eclipse Cross sits above the ASX and below the Outlander. Taking on rivals such as the Nissan Qashqai, Seat Ateca and Peugeot 3008.
Powered by a 1.5 ltr turbo charged petrol engine that produces 161bhp, the eclipse has slightly more power than rivals. you have a choice of a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed CVT, 2 or 4 wheel drive.
Where the Eclipse Cross stands out is in standard spec, the 3 trim levels (2, 3 and 4) provide a huge amount of kit compared to rivals and should not go unnoticed.

Thank you for your comment. I haven’t driven the Eclipse in the snow but can imagine it is very capable.

Got the manual 6 speed version, boot it and use the gears for a big'ish car it will go, for the price can not fault it, comfortable leather seats (heated) cracking sound system, good sized lights and indicators, the front lights are awesome on unlighted roads/motorways, will be keeping for some time.

Nice video Sir and a good balance. I would ask though if you had it in eco mode as I do know a few people that have thought the car was slow due to this ? Also it was designed by the same man whom designed the Qashqai and the Juke and you do get use to the rear of the car LOL I after looking around did purchase the First Edition model and must say I'm very very happy with it 1 month on. keep up the good work :-)

MARKUS 3000 Hi there Markus. After chatting with the team at the dealership I did find out that leaving the car in eco mode stunted performance under acceleration. Thank you for your comment and we do hope to keep up the good work.

The Eclipse Cross is a car that surprised me enough to place an order for one -the Frost White 4 4WD auto - after test driving both the manual and auto versions. I agree that the vehicle has a lot going for it in terms of on-board equipment, and it would be worth experimenting with the paddle shifters after dropping it out of Eco mode and putting the selector lever in the sports gate to re-evaluate the CVT's potential. It has good low-down torque, though i'm not looking at it from a-how-quick-to 60-mph perspective, rather than it's power to deliver when you need it. The whole package of a good solid build, excellent 5 year, 62.5 K mileage warranty, three years home start/roadside assistance, and the general excellence of a very well constructed and safe machine to drive should be on your list of important factors, I feel. The rear styling is a subjective one -I think it's visually interesting, and despite some purists decrying it as a 'Pontiac Aztek' or even your observation that it leans a little towards the Honda Civic, it wasn't a deal breaker for me, and the visibility out of the rear window is not a problem either. True, it has borrowed influences from other vehicles with the rear end presentation, but how many car manufacturers haven't been prone to using the styling of others creeping into their designs? The appeal of a different looking SUV swung me in it's favour, despite my initial desire for the new Peugeot 3008 SUV, which I really fell for, however, my wife found the passenger seating aspect 'claustrophobic', so I reluctantly had to look elsewhere. The Eclipse Cross impressed me with it's slightly understated clean interior design language, and it's level of spec at top of the range was exactly what I was looking for, but I did have a particular requirement that the infotainment screen was well placed on the dash - like the Peugeot - and along with the good standard of finish this influenced my decision to go for the Mitsubishi. The dual sunroof is rather nice, and the added bonus of the HUD made it just so easy to keep speed information and cruise control/driving settings within one's road sightline - a nice touch Mitsubishi! I'm delighted to know that the seats accommodate your 5ft plus width Mr Bear :-) and I like your fair and 'give-it-a-look' appraisal - It's definitely a car worth considering in favour of the usual suspects, and I find it very relaxing to drive. PS The Auto hold handbrake is brilliant too, and the premier sound system rocks! Rock On - keep up the good revues - you deserve more subscribers !

An excellent review but you forgot to mention that the rear seats recline to accommodate taller people as well as slide back and forward.
