    This is why I think Mitsubishi is a real hidden gem among all these brands. I got the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT and it handles great when I took it out at Joshua Tree. I was going 40mph over bumps and on a dirt path. Its a really a great but everyone! Buy one!

    Mitsubishi has a fantastic AWD system that's fairly complex and as good as anyone's. That's not the problem with them. The problem is the rest of the vehicle. The outdated platform that's plagued with some of the worst cars ever made, the poor reliability of the current engines, the very cheap interiors and exterior body cladding, paint and shoddy electronics. All points to the fact that these cars won't run long. They're not so cheap that they'd be throw-aways and if you want to take them off-road, you can't exactly lease them either. The body damage will kill you at turn-in. They're also not a car you'd sell easily after 5 years. Their depreciation value is horrific and most people won't touch them with a 10 foot pole.

    I purchased the Mitsubishi Cross three months ago, let me tell everyone we love it off road and on regular pavement. The electronics are fantastic, the touch pad "like a mouse pad" is wonderful. The body design is new and fresh, the rear end in my opinion is sexy. My advice to everyone drive one and you will fall in love. Before my test drive we were going to purchase a Rav4 I made the right choice by buying the Eclipse Cross !!!

    It means the Mitsubishi warranty covers bumper to bumper for up to 5 years/60k miles and engine/transmission things up to 10 years/100k miles. The anti-corrosion warranty is 7 years/100,000 miles. It's the exact same as what you get with Hyundai/Kia, which are the direct competitors to Mitsubishi (but are a LOT more reliable.)

    I just bought one and can't wait to receive it. I was going for the RVR at 1st and then the salesman told me about this one and I did the test drive for both. I was with my sister and when we went from the Eclipse Cross to the RVR, my sister made that: "I feel we got off a limousine and went to a regular car." The Eclipse Cross is really comfortable, I tell you. I also did the test drive for the Mazda CX-5, Toyota Rav4 and Nissan Rogue. What convinced me to go with Mitsubishi in the end was the warranty.

    After 9 months with our two 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL’s with Touring Package & S-AWC we couldn’t be happier. They have every feature we could want like push start, remote start with app for ac and tons of feature changes, mitsubishi connect with sos button in car, heated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, dual pano roof and separate sun shade control for rear passengers, 710 watt 9 speaker rockford fosgate audio system, power folding mirrors, adjustable led headlights, all the up to date active driver aids and safety features and much more! They are so nice and the unique looks I still love every time I see it. The interior on the Eclipse Cross is very nice for this class and high quality compared to the competition and other Mitsubishis. The Crosstrek (which I really like) interior was very cheap feeling and I was shocked. You could move the whole top of door trim on the Subaru and when you pull the door shut the interior door trim pulls outward. The materials feel hollow like. Even the new Rav-4 I wasn’t impressed with. The Eclipse Cross is very solid with tight fitting seams and lots of soft touch parts like a full soft touch dash, soft touch door inserts, soft touch door arm rest, soft touch upper door and center console. Everything feels very sturdy and well built. The silver trim, simulated carbon look trim and piano black trim they use makes it look classy and upmarket with using multiple textures and materials (although piano black scratches to easy on any car). The seats are also very comfy with the leather type material. This does have less cargo room than most competitors due to the sport back type design but with the rear seats being able to slide back and forth and recline allows you to adjust everything to fit passengers and cargo as needed which was a neat design choice. Plus the rear seats fold. Im just shy a 6ft and even with front seats all the way back I can sit in the back with out my knees hitting the seat and I have plenty a head room. The rear is very comfy especially when you recline the seats and open the rear glass panel shade its neat. Again we are very happy with our Mitsubishis. We have owned 5 Mitsubishis now and will continue to buy them as of all the car brands we have owned (Hyundai, Kia, Chevy, Dodge, Ford) the Mitsubishi have have the best luck with no issues. We always purchase new. Thanks Mitsubishi!!!

    Nice little off road trip Dave, I've been watching all the Mitsubishi videos off road and I can't tell. Out of the Outlander, Outlander Sport, and this new Eclipse Cross that you have taken to this OHV park which was your favorite if you can recall? I know you have done at least 2 Outlanders a V6 and a 4 Cylinder model, I'm considering the GT V6 in a few months for going up into the Tennessee mountains.

    Great review Dave...I love the look of the Mitsubishi enough to compare shop it with the competitors you mentioned. It is less expensive with more features and a 5/60 bumper to bumper and a 10/100 power train warranty. Add that to the fact that Mitsubishi cars have a great reputation for reliability and you have a winner... Thanks for showing the off road ability. It is not a surprise considering Mitsubishi's rally racing heritage. Good job once again Dave!! We will give it a 10 off road since it did everything you asked it to do with ease..

    A lot of Nissan engineering behind Eclipse Cross. Only concern is the CVT reliability!

  • @mushroomcloud1

    @mushroomcloud1

    6 жыл бұрын

    For whatever reason, The Jatco CVT hasn't been a problem in the Mitsubishis They have been better in the Nissans (Jatco makes theirs too) of late than the earlier versions. The Eclipse Cross design and development was completed prior to Nissan taking a controlling stake in Mitsubishi though it was released after Nissan took over. It took some time for CVT tech to mature, but they are used by many manufacturers and have lately been less problem than some Dual clutch (Ford) and 9 speed (Jeep) transmissions for example. It seem that the bugs have been worked out..

    No, the Eclipse Cross is actually the last Vehicle exclusively made by Mitsubishi after this next year. Then the vehicles will be sharing parts and platforms. The Outlander Sport/ Rogue Sport and the Outlander/ Rogue to start... It's built on the Mitsubishi GS platform which has been used for The Outlander Sport amongst many other vehicles since 2005. It has been shared with Chrysler/Dodge vehicles and used for many of the Jeep platforms up until 2016 when Fiat took over.

    mushroomcloud1 Yes very true. The CVTs in the Mitsubishis are Reliable. Nissan had a lot of issues a few years back even though the CVTs are the same maker. A girl I work with has 149,000 on her 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer CVT and has had the fluid changed twice no issues. 7 of us own Mitsubishis at my work and all CVTs. We love our 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport GT AWC and 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 SE. This is the last true mitsubishi before the alliance kicked in.

    I have a 2018 SEL model and it drives like a charm, better than my old Subaru Tribeca. A month ago, a driver in a Dodge Ram in the highway dropped off a sofa and I had to maneuver my EC around it. I was able to do it with maybe not even a second to react. The driver cut me off in the dark while driving at 65 mph. I was able to control my EC with no problems thanks to the S-AWC. This is a keeper. Highly, highly recommended!

    To be fair, for all the people talking about the rear styling...let's be real, the rear of any Eclipse (even before this crossover version), has been polarizing. I know a lot of people that hated the flat Eclipse read and I know a ton that hated the round Eclipse rear (lovingly called Bubble Butt by some friends lol). Tis the Eclipse way to have a polarizing rear end

  • @afcgeo882

    @afcgeo882

    5 жыл бұрын

    @Steve Thea No, definitely smaller. Quite a bit smaller, actually. The Eclipse Cross is a sub-compact CUV. Its competition is the Toyota CH-R, Subaru Crosstrek, Jeep Compass, Nissan Rogue Sport, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX3, Ford EcoSport, Chevy Trax, VW Tiguan Limited, Fiat 500x, Hyundai Kona. The direct competitor to the Rav4 and CX5 is the Outlander. Even though it has a tiny 3rd row (like the Nissan Rogue and VW Tiguan), it is still the same size inside and out and has comparable engine sizes/performance. Others in that class are: Subaru Forester, Jeep Cherokee, Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, etc. While people do cross-shop those two classes, it is usually because they simply don't need a compact and the sub-compacts are cheaper. It's like going to see the Grand Cherokee or a Ford Edge, but settling on a Forester. It may be just fine for you, but that doesn't mean the cars are of equal size.

Second, much in that situation depends not on the AWD system, but on the engine output. This is a rocky, sandy turf and not snow/ice. Eventually, the tires will get grip, given enough torque is applied. The bigger the engine, the more torque.

    Hi guy's I've just got the equivalent model in the UK and all seems good so far but wont likely take it off road. It feels good value but like all brands nothing is cheap these days but all considered I am happy with the car, don't know why mitsubishi can't offer 10year warranty in UK as you only get five years here but that's life i guess !

    I'm glad Mitsubishi is starting do well in sales those crossovers are getting better by the day as highest volume sales like Toyota and Honda looks bland being their quality is a bit better still give Mitsubishi 👍👍👍up on styling and doing well with sales now as not long ago they were lacking in sales now they are getting up there starting to see them advertising more now like they did years ago. Dave l like this CUV myself too along the Outlander so happy see Mitsubishi is doing well now making nicer crossovers it seems other popular models as (Equinox, CR-V, RAV4) are looking bland now thanks for the vid.

    Absolutely... if you're blind and have no hands to touch anything with. Mitsubishis have the cheapest interiors in the industry, which is one of the reasons they're cheaper than the competition.

    @@afcgeo882 I've always been confused when people say this, I spend my days(at work) hoping in and out of many cars, and from what I see and feel is as for design, fit, and feel, Mitsubishi is way better than many cars I've been in, some cars feel like they just pegged things in, or are too bland(yes, even more so than a lancer, at least you can tell they tried) As for plastics and leather, it's all the same nowadays, I've seen some really bad plastics jeeps(compass), toyotas(pruis), nissans(altima and cheaper), you name it.

    Just a suggestion: you may want to upgrade your dog food from Pedigree. That food has little protein, a lot of corn and fillers..First 3 ingredients make up about 75% of content. Much better brands out there for pet health.

    I don't think the Toyota ch-r compete with this Eclipse Cross at all. The ch r doesn't come with all wheel drive, no leather seats, no other trims, no off road modes, nothing at all man....the Eclipse Cross has everything unlike the ch r..Its funny you brought it up, because Toyota had enough time to upgrade it, add trims, add off road tech, but no...they just left that barely with what it has now after scion didn't last long and didn't bother changing the ch r. Then you have Mitsubishi that doesn't have another sub model and was able to develop, track test, put off road tech, leather seats, dual moon roof, and able to make and market this nice SUV...

    The CH-R actually does compete against it, just maybe not for your personal wants/needs. You see, many CUVs in North America are sold as FWD only (except Subaru, which doesn't come that way) and that goes double for sub-compact CUVs, which these two are. Most don't come with leather either. The majority of the buyers of this size vehicle buy it because it's cheap and with a hatch, it's practical. When that's all you need and you can get it, in a reliable Toyota, for $20k, why would you spend more to get the stuff you don't need in an unreliable Mitsubishi? Toyota knew that and it bet on it. Sells lots of CH-Rs by the way. A lot more than MItsubishi sells of the Eclipse Cross or the Outlander Sport. Also, these are CUVs, not SUVs.

    gsxellence No, no it doesn't. As good as the 4G63 is it's also horribly outdated, as for a 3.8 V6, are you joking? It's a compact crossover, it doesn't need anything that big, even Honda doesn't stick a V6 in the Accord anymore. Downsizing is here to stay.
