The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah, that's cool."
I'm also the producer for the Winding Road KZread Channel:
/ windingroadmagazine
Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

    Even though this GS platform is long in the tooth, I really like the looks of this car. That infotainment system is very disappointing compared to its German luxury car rivals. At least Honda/Acura is trying to upgrade their systems while Lexus and Infiniti are content with their 5 year old systems. Toyota and Nissan have improved their infotainment but apparently they aren't sharing with their luxury divisions.

  • @clover7359

    Lexus recommends premium because their engines use compression ratios that take advantage of the extra octane. No other reason. You get more power and torque from the same engine with a higher compression ratio rather than a lower one. The result is a smoother and quieter drive because you don't have to rev the engine quite as much. If you decide to use regular, the car has to compensate, and the result is a deadened or laggy throttle response, and decreased performance, which of course comes across as less smooth and less fine-tuned.

    with the AWD model, you get the 6-speed instead of 8, get increased ride height, with F-Sport models AWD removes variable gear ratio steering, dynamic rear steering, and you lose the larger 2-piece high performance front brake rotors. RWD is the way to go with the GS!

    @@Globeguy1 It's not about having more gears to row through. It's about being able to stay in the meat of the powerband more of the time. The 8-speed makes it more efficient, quicker & makes it pull so hard above 80. Not only that but it's the same 8-speed from the IS-F which locks the torque converter from gears 2-8 and makes it super fun and aggressive in manual mode. The 6-speed is antiquated and only further dates the 4th gen GS.

    Like the video, however, premium gas does not affect smoothness of a car. The only difference between premium and non premium gas is the octane rating. Lexus uses premium so they can use higher compression ratios and thus more power.

  • @WHERESSS

    @WHERESSS

    2 жыл бұрын

    In the US, octane is the most important part of premium gas. However, all of the major brands, especially top tier dump significantly more detergents into their premium fuels. It is sometimes double the amount of regular gas of the same brand. This is comparing top tiers fuels, which have a government mandated minimum that even the regular grades meet. If your car is port injected only it likely won't matter much at all and you'll get rid of the car or it'll rust out before the pistons build up enough deposits to increase compression enough to knock. This particular GS uses the 2GR-FKS which has the D4S dual injection system. It is running in direct injection mode most of the time, and only utilizes port injection during cleaning cycles determined by the ecm. The extra additives therefore will help more here than in a port injected engine in keeping in keeping it running smoother for longer.

    @@AmericanBusinessman422 That is for the RX 350, not the GS 350. I just Googled it and it was pretty easy to find. Even then, I have driven an RX 350 and can say that I wouldn't care if it had Toyota parts. It is extremely quiet and rides well, and all the leather feels soft and smooth.

    @@ARentz07 I'm sure you think the leather is soft and ride is smooth. I would too if my standards were that low! But I've seen what the Germans are doing. @@AmericanBusinessman422 I own a Lexus IS 300. I drove the 328i and A4, and briefly looked at the Q50, before making my decision. The IS just felt more solid on the road... the BMW wasn't far off, but I liked the steering in the IS a lot better. And though the A4 had real leather seats, the rest of the interior just didn't do it for me. You can read all about my experience with my IS here: www.clublexus.com/forums/is-3rd-gen-2014-present/888494-18-month-ownership-review-is-300-f-sport.html So yeah I know luxury a bit. I have driven several other Lexus models, rented a few nice cars including a G80 5.0, etc... Can't believe I am explaining myself, lol.
