    I kind of have to agree with the OP here. I'm definitely NOT a fan of this type of bass mix (and I'm using a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M40X headphones, one of my favorite headphones because they're very neutral). It's extremely scooped, and to me, it's just muddy. I understand this is often the way they mix in the modern metal scene, but if my bass lines were mixed like this, I would not be happy. It lacks character and punch. Not dishing or anything, but IMO this does not showcase the bass tone very well.

  • @honeybucket

    @honeybucket

    He said he can't hear the bass, which is not the case. The bass is very loud in this mix and anyone who doesn't think so either has garbage headphones/speakers or has completely blow out their eardrums. It's not about the quality of the mix, which is a personal preference, OP said he can't hear it. That's what we're talking about here.

  • @mouthmw

    @mouthmw

    5 жыл бұрын

    It's not articulate, it's muddy, and that buries it in the mix as sort of a "blanket cover" for the rest of the instruments. Having loud woofing tone just muddies things up IMO. Wanna hear a great Stingray tone with a pick? Check out "At The Drive In - Relationship of Command" album. That thing has balls, character, and isn't just some loud super low frequency. Again, that's my personal taste and where I agree with the OP.

    Dear Ryan, I see someone calling you out in the comments about this video being an Ad for Ernie Ball, it got me thinking about a few other youtube artists and their gear reviews, are you sponsored or endorsed by Ernie Ball? Do you receive free stuff from them? It's not a big deal that you provide favourable reviews for them, allowing that you personally enjoy their products, but I would like to know if there is any kind of quid pro quo that goes on between you and their company? Is this part of how the youtube artist thing works. I'd just respect full disclosure. Your content and playing are above reproach and I see why they would like to have your voice added to the praise of their products. Please don't stop what you do, I would just like to be informed as a consumer. -Respectfully MJ

    Im sorry to let you all innocent fluff fans know that 99% of the videos fluff makes are tied to some sort of a deal or an agreement with the manufacturer. This is just life, people need to pay bills and have some minimum savings if they dont want to starve when they are old and retired. I do think though that it is not healthy for the channel on the long term to have just sponsored videos. And also a sponsored disclaimer would be nice.
