2018 Audi S4 review from Family Wheels

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Audi shuffled the deck with its sportier sibling of the popular A4 sedan. A new engine configuration, new transmission, larger size and improved power are all reasons to find a twisty road near you and take one for a test drive. Barring that, take a look at this week's review!

    Thanks for converting the fuel consumption figures. You're probably the only Canadian reviewer to do it.

    I just ordered a 2019 S4 (Manhattan Grey w/ black optics). This is my favourite S4 review on KZread. Checks all the boxes. Balanced visuals of both interior and exterior, detailed and knowledgable technical talk, very comprehensive overview of all features and specs, useful comparisons to prior S4 iterations, Canadian fuel consumption numbers (!), family oriented testing (!!!), including an excellent, in-depth discussion of the rear cabin, helpful personal takes on ride and drive, smooth delivery and presentation, great camera work and production value. This video has it all. Obvious a lot of work and attention went into it. Nicely done. Keep these family oriented reviews coming please.

    Great review. I'd like to correct you on the exhaust sound you hear on Dynamic (also auto and Individual if selected). There are electronic actuators that open two of the exhaust ports when activated. No use of fake sound on these.

    Great review @familywheels! As a father of a 3 YO and another on the way I'm selling my BMW coupe :-( and your review has convinced me that this S4 may be the way to go. I 100% agree with your assessment on BMWs nickel and diming - I've been a BMW guy for 7+ years now and I'm likely moving away from them now... Heading out to test drive this car tomorrow! #subscribed

    Great video! I’m buying an S5 sportback and I have one front facing and one rear facing car seats. Was very concerned about them fitting in the back comfortably, and is part of why I’m selling my S3. I was about to abandon the S5 for the sq5, but this might have just made my mind for me. I love how it drives and it’s mostly just me in it, but I do want to be able to fit my whole family so I’m excited they’ll fit! Thanks for the review!

    @@grkgangsta89 yes don’t buy the s5 sportback. It doesn’t have enough space. I ended up buying the sq5 out of necessity. Love it. Great car. I bought a Porsche so I can still have fun on the back roads cuz the sq5 is not the car for that but I tuned it on e85 and it’s really fast. Also sounds better than s5 for some reason. Great exhaust tone. But yeah sadly don’t get the s5. It won’t work with rear facing car seats.

    Those are really nice. I wanted one. Couldn't get Audi to come off of MSRP. They must be selling well. I was working with Mercedes and BMW. Both were willing to knock off as much as $10k off of more expensive models. I got a BMW 540i M Sport Package with executive tier and other options, MSRP $71,325, for cheaper than an S4 with prestige package (MSRP ~$64k)... Couldn't resist. Went with the BMW. The S4 is nice, but it's not in the same league as a 540i M Sport with Executive tier, Harmon Kardon Sound system, Drivers assist package, and other options. I could have gotten a brand new Mercedes E450 4matic with lots of nice options for cheaper than this too...

Really need some advice from you. I personally think bmw 440i is more athletics. but I really dont know which one to choose. Thanks a lot!

    It's "cheap" for what you get because you can't sell a sedan with a back seat this size for more. Auto makers price by size class, even though it doesn't cost them that much more to manufacture a slightly bigger car. Often they have the same drivetrains, electronics etc. You're talking 200 lbs more of steel and plastic and minor refinements for another $10-$15K. Go price the equivalent of this in the SUV built on the same platform and watch the price soar.

    Canada get ventilated seats? We get then on the USA. Included in the "Warm weather package". What an odd thing to omit by region. Like how the GSF in Canada gets digital rear seating controls and a power trunk. But the US doesn't.

    For the huge price increase the S4 is not worth it. Not enough sport. Can't even get a manual opti9n like on the standard A4, the supposed non sporty level

  • @rtownz251251

    @rtownz251251

    Blake Swan i do think it’s worth it. The s4 has a better resale value and is specced better already as well. Black headliner, leather sports seats, 3 zone climate control, carbon trim, s4 grille, s4 mirrors, quad tip exhaust, led head and tail lights, bigger wheels and of course the engine. Most of those are (expensive) options on a regular a4. If you were to get a nicely specced a4 I’d say why not go for an s4 since resale value is better and the retail price isn’t too far off a regular a4.
