My relation to Daiwa is only that I know someone who works for a Distributor. I receive upon my request a form which allows me to order 6 rods or reels per season.
Keep in mind....making youtube videos is not a requirement. ((which is required for those Piscifun pushers))
I've signed up 2 other people on the program who have never even mentioned their purchases....they're just good guys on the forums.
Which is how I met my contact.
I don't owe daiwa any positive speak or favors. And I'd bet a steez...that Daiwa doesn't even know who I am.
These are the program rules. as they appear on an older order form
I cannot disclose pricing..not because it doesn't state it on the form. But I don't want to get anyone in trouble.
Though I receive roughly 30 to 50% off msrp depending on whether it's a rod or reel....and what it's retail price is.
Often times it's easier cheaper and faster to buy from amazon or ebay.
At the discretion of our Sales Representatives, Daiwa offers special pricing to influential anglers who assist us
in the promotion of our quality products.
The rules are simple:
1. Offer is limited to purchase of six items (rods and/or reels) per season.
2. Items must be for your personal use only and not be resold within one year.
3. Order must be shipped to your home address.
4. Valid through July 31, 2015
5. All orders must be signed by a Daiwa Sales Representative.
Shipping Charges:
Reels only: add $10.00
Rods only: add $20.00
Rods and reels on same order: add $30.00

I will say, this is the ONLY youtube channel I've found that reviews in a un biased way and goes into such deep details and crucial information but somehow still keeps it simple enough for fishermen to understand. Not sure how you do it Tackle Advisors but great video! It certainly helped me out in picking a surf fishing spinning reel.

Excellent in depth comparison. I'm fishing 2 Daiwa BGs in different sizes for about a year now. When new I did a tear down, lube and rebuild following your maintenance tutorial for the BG. Not because they needed it but because I liked to. They have been brilliant. They feel and perform so good up to a point that I wonder where I need my much more expensive Shimano's for. Love'm!

I took a Penn Battle 2, 4000 into the Boundary Waters on a 70 miles trip. 50 by canoe, and 20 on foot. The battle stayed outside for all five days. Several days of rain, and one of which was a storm that caused a ton of blow down (aka trees fell over). To this day all Ive done is add the oil it came with and it makes zero noise or clunks. When the bearings start to go, Ill be upgrading them to fully sealed as well as dry lube on the metal surfaces. Would like to try the BG, but its hard to turn my back on what the battle has went through and laughed at.

Had a blast testing The Diawa BG saltwater reels 3000 this past fall Salmon fishing. I was looking for a reel that friends and kids could use to beat the heck out of fishing Chinook / Coho Salmon. Skein and bobber fishing Salmon in fresh water streams of Michigan. Worked great, Great drag, Takes a beating... Not a loose screw one reel 500 salmon later.. We also had fun testing the Diawa Tatula 3000 &4000 , Shimano stradic 3000 & 4000 , The 2500 Stella, Diawa Revros 2500 and The Pflueger. The only reel we did not like was the Pflueger. Just watched one of your reviews for the first time... I liked your review alot !!! Finally someone who takes the reels apart and explains the interworkings of the reel with a materials list.. Thanks for the good reviews .... If you ever need a reel to review let me know i have a bunch.... I purchaed 15 different reels looking to see how they would hold up to all fishing. Steelhead,Salmon,Gills Trout,Pike ,walleye. We have a world class fishery here in Michigan. I fish alot... My father will fish 200 plus days per year. He recently broke the Stella he purchased in the early 90's .... the reel had a estamated 30,000 fish under its belt. I am kinda hoping they still make that kind of quality reel since i just purchased my first Stella this seaon 2018. My dad sent in his Stella reel for a cleaning. The man who cleaned the Stella my father owned said in 30 years he had never seen a reel look so used ?? lolololol Ended up charging a cleaning fee lol...

I run a Nasci 1000 on my ultralight rig for freshwater light-line finesse work. It services easily and runs like silk despite a good number of fights when I hooked into fish far bigger than my intended species. My issue is that I’m looking to replace my 3000 size spinning reel for bulkier freshwater finesse fishing. Between this video and my baseline experience with the Nasci, I have a couple great options on the table. Thanks for making such a thorough video; very appreciated from a guy who services his own reels.

Sooo, I lost my much used and loved older Daiwa BG20 Ugly stick combo yesterday, I still have its twin on a Crowley Rod. After much debate I chose the BG4000 as its replacement over the battle II. The BG20 landed some pretty big saltwater fish including a 35LB Mahi on 12lb test mono backed with braid. I hope the BG4000 proves as reliable. The clincher was the comment regarding the battle II wind knots. If not for that I would have gone with the PENN.

Thank you very much for the in-depth review! Excellent and to the point. Granted it'll never cover everything everybody gonna wanna know but you did a great job and contributed tremendously to fishing community, as well as manufacturing process (for those who cares to listen and I know smart ones are listening). My main reels are Daiwa BGs, and recently got a few Fuego LTs, amongst baitcasters, conventionals. I have yet used Fuego LT much and will try to remember to update once I've got a few miles out of those. I fish from surf and banks, typically red/black drums, speckled trouts with occasional bluefish, and typical trashes. Once in a while I do kayak as well, thus the reason for Fuego. Keep up the good work and thank you again fro LA!

How has your Fuego stacked up against the BG? If the performance is similar I will definitely go Fuego LT, based on the sole fact that it is lighter. Biggest complaint I've heard is that the Fuego LT can flex when handling larger fish.

  • @willh.2155

    @willh.2155

@@STiMPUTELLO Recently I used more of the Fuego LT than BG, because it's lighter. And I finally broke down and fixed the line lay issue of the Fuego, by adding one extra plastic shim. Both of my Fuego's got this problem out of the box. Sad really. If you google, you'll see that this is a very common issue. About 2 weeks ago, me and my son went fishing, we got several 20+" reds on both BG and Fuego. Performance wise, no difference. Weight wise, I prefer Fuego.

This was a fantastic reel. I have used both the BGs and Battle 2s. when it comes to the handle being one piece or it breaks down such as the battle 2, I prefer the battle 2 style. when it comes to storage under the gunwales on a flats boat you usually run into storage space issues. being able to loosen the handle and fold that handle in it allows it to fit better and also don't run into the issue of handles being kicked. which has been a problem. but to each their own. but awesome review!! Tight lines!!

Fabulous job Scoob! I don't watch a lot of reel reviews but it cracks me up when you have some joker "review" the reel by reading the specs. Or when the same guy says "Brand X is lighter in the 2500 size than Brand Y but it holds less line." Ummmm yeah, perhaps because it a smaller reel? Reminds me of "But this one goes to 11." Can't wait for albie season the put the BG back into service. After your vid, I may have to give the Tsunami another shot. I was sure it was going to win the top turd prize

I love the penn battle and the bg. They are both black and gold they look super similar. They are like twins, that hate each other and always fight over who is better. I hope you get what I’m saying lol. 😂

  • @wrightackle1
    @wrightackle16 жыл бұрын

The battle vs bg comparison was fascinating. Kudos to you for pointing out the bearing noise at the end of the review. Those bearings are virtually dry in the new reels and they will fail [ask me how I know]. Penn definitely outdid Daiwa on preventing failure on the pinion bearing. I also like the fact that the carbon drag washers are keyed to the spool. That main gear on the shield is pitiful. It would last no time on snapper and amberjacks. Whenever you hold a spool up to the camera to show the line lay it looks like there is way to heavy a braid on the spools. Those spool line clips are just aggravating. Most of the time the flouro leader you are using won't begin to go under that clip. Really was a fun hour watch all in all. Good job!

I own 3 out of these 6 egg beaters (BG4000, Shield 5000 and a 4000 Nasci). After more than a hard fishing year on the water, I must give it to the shield as it is still holding strong. aside of the overall quality of the shield (body Finish, not so strong handle and the looks of a $25 reel) it still looks and feels the same out of the box. compared to the BG which got very loose and wiggly after one season. One recommendation to the Shield is to convert it to a manual bail. Also, this is a tough reel to match/balance to a good rod, after many trials, I paired it with a Lamiglas Insane 9ft surf rod. you get yourself a great $200 surf setup. looking forward to seeing the Tsunami SaltX and what it would bring to the table against fully sealed reels in the market.

Older video, but still relevant. I just bought Daiwa BG 4500 and 2500. Have only fished the 2500 so far. I have 8 lb mono on it and it casts far and reels smooth. Both BGs have excellent line lay with mono, 15 lb on the 4500. I also just bought a Fuego 4000 LT. I am outfitting to start light surf fishing in NC, haven’t gone yet. I have 20 lb braid on one spool and 15 lb mono on the other. Both have excellent line lay. Hope they fish well.

I had my Okuma Cedros drop in the surf today and it got full of sand in under two minutes in order to get into the gear box at all lit required a total take down odds are I'll be replacing it with a Penn as you can just remove the crank and take the side cover off food for thought. It didn't go back together very well.

Thanks so much for replying... I wanted a conventional but the thing is, I need to be able to cast out pretty far due to where I am fishing. With a conventional I would need a kayak to get the baits out. At least to my knowledge.

I wish i had seen this sooner. My socorro sw 6000 is used as a bait chunking reel on the jetties. Now, 3 weeks ago it got dragged into the ship channel off the jetties. I jumped in (instincts kicked in, id never recommend doing this) and retrievd it. It was banged up and was completely submerged in saltwater for a few minutes. I figured that the cheap reel was done for. All i did was rinse it off, and one month later, it fishes and feels exactly the same it did when i bought it. For a jetty beater, i couldn't ask for more from a $130 reel.

Very informative breakdown on the reels. By far the longest review i’ve watched but yet its worthy. Keep up the good job. By the way guys stay away from Socorro for your own good. There are better reels out there. Cheers

I love these videos my friend thank you. I’m actually not “Bias” either towards Fishing Reels I just like buying quality so I buy Shimano lol. I did buy from the Amazon Warehouse a Tempo Apex Plus spinning reel for 23 bucks , it reads Magnesium Body but I doubt it lol but it’s a remarkable Fishing Reel and I’ve used in my 40 years of throwing junk in the water a few Top Tier Reels and had the pleasure of using a Staal on the Pier in Chesapeake a few years ago from an Elderly Gentleman who said hey “you gotta try this Reel” lol. Great Video my Friend thank you for your Honesty and keeping us from buying Junk. Semper Fidelis

Hi I like your channel, even though I often fall asleep, it's not boring, but I watched you in my bed time I bought tranx because of you, and I'm very very Happy with it, thanks.. Right now I'm in a crossroads with tatula/ballistic/stradics c14+ Where should I turn? People said stradics are more durable and stable under tension, but.. I'm a bit boring with Shimano, i had 5 shim. I need small 2000ish size for light fishing, I need ultra light for all day fishing Thanks again, I really appreciate your time and effort to dig all of these tackle in microscopic level
