I have a 2017 Rogue SV AWD. So it is always in FWD unless you press the AWD lock button?

What is a CVT transmission

CVT= Continuously Variable Transmission. Is has no stepped gears like a traditional transmission, instead it can continuously vary the gear ratio. If you can picture the cassette on the back wheel of a bike, imagine a conical shape like that, but smooth and you'd have lots of little in-between gear ratios between each of the cassettes cogs.
