2017 Monroe, WA Extreme Mustang Makeover, Luna’s story
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
This is Luna’s story. She was my Extreme Mustang Makeover mare from the 2017 Monroe, WA makeover. Luna was the most terrified mustang I have ever encountered. She ended up being purchased at the auction by a lovely lady in Finland who exported her there. She is the first BLM mustang that we know of imported to Finland. They are so in love with Luna’s special soul that they have since imported several more mustangs. You can see their fantasy life on their Instagram by clicking the link below. Luna is so happy and they send me regular updates. Truly a magical story about a little terrified mustang who found a fairytale ending. We hope you enjoy!

It's so refreshing to see a trainer who didn't push to be undersaddle "in time". You let her come to terms with stuff on her own schedule while still pushing the right amount. I think your back up was beautiful and honestly I respect that she backed up because of YOUR body language. She was super respectful and I loved seeing how quiet she was, especially in the fitting/showmanship. She looked fantastic overall. She looks like she could be part paso fino.

kathryn schallywag What the fuck would you know about horses ?

My guess as well...her size and heavier neck gave her away. Pasos have a real sturdy conformation like a wellbred mountain horse with a low, "daisy clipping" gait that is so easy to ride. Nothing like the big TWH "rocking horse" movements or very animated, showy gaits of a saddlebred. There is a lot of Spanish gaited breeds found in the bloodlines in most mustangs if you go back far enough.

I dont know why but this horse made an impression on me also. And then when i saw the pics in finland of her i got a little teary eye'd, i think she really found her kindred spirit there. Shes so pretty, thanks for sharing.
I had purchased a mare here in Ocala from some Latin people, she is out of Top Sail Whiz blood line. I have had her for over 5 years and to this day she is unpredictable frightened. She flights over one thing one day, the next time she is fine and then the next time she flights. She distrust men. My husband whom grew up in Wyoming and now having Parkinsons from Agent Orange does not have the stamina to work with her. She needs so much attention that I am unable to give her, but I can not sell nor give her to just anybody. We are afraid she will hurt someone inexperienced. So kudos to you to be able to train her and find her a fairy tale life. A frightened horse are the hardest to train.
Made me cry seeing the photos of her in Finland. You trained her so well and now she has another great person across the world who loves her. What an amazing story.
Damn your good. Wasn't sure she would make the competition in the beginning. As a avid horseman myself, I really enjoy watching your awesome skill and patience. Your narrative talents shine as well. Great job!!

There's just something about Luna that just draws you to her. LOVED this video
That by far is the best mustang makeover. And it’s nice to know she is living the frozen fairytale. Good on you girl you were sooo patient with her
Monroe Washington...long time ago in late 70s worked as a groom at woodscreek training farm for thoroughbreds, the start to my career of eventually discovering my gift:imprinting babies and handling brood mares.took home a whooping $600 month working 6 days a week back then.great job with the mustang
She is a natural beauty. Thank you for giving her confidence and trust. She seems to love Finland.
What a great story! Congratulations on a terrific job. Such a noble cause to educate a horse so they can find good homes and a great life! Im sure Luna is very appreciative!
Isidro, I'm not a horse person. Thank you so much for what you did for this horse. You are a lovely person...John
Wow, you did such a great job! Luna is a beautiful horse and I bet you cannot be prouder. You gave this horse the chance to love her best life and I thank you!
That is fantastic. You and all the good folks who help these horses are just wonderful. Thanks for the great story of the lovely little horse with a lovely new life. I am only seeing this now in 2021 and it put a smile on my dial.
My goodness... the pictures of her forever home made me tear up. What a beautiful fairytale story this grey mare got.
the pics in Finland were absolutely breathtaking!!!!!!!!!
Now that was a happy ending for Luna..you should be very proud of yourself..because you are doing a great job with this mustangs...👍
The best part of her journey is the fairy tale ending. So glad she found a well-matched home with someone that focuses on her strengths instead of her weakness. Things could have gone very wrong for this horse if someone else had bought her to cowboy around on. Glad both the trainer and owner are kind-hearted horseman.
from Yakima, nice to see the gentle training method now days. proud of your patient kindness & concern for that beauty. hope she is loved as much & treated as kindly in Finland.
poor girl bless her heart that skittish girl smile laughs.Your vids are so fun and inspiring

I rode Evergreen State Fair 4-H horse shows there until 1975, it's wonderful to the wild Mustangs receiving positive attention there. Thank you for your patient, gentle training and care of these beautiful horses.
So i live in Finland and i was pretty suprised that Luna is now living in Finland. Because there isn’t that much mustangs

What a good job and wonderful home she has now!!!
Wow! I almost didn’t recognize her! I know her new owner through Instagram, we started talking since one of my mares is also from Beatty’s Butte. I had no idea that y’all trained her😍
Luna is such a gorgeous girl and she has such a beautiful spirit. And she’s sharp as a whip too! I’m so glad you got her and not a kill buyer.
Great job , love & patience for these beautiful horses. Soooo joyful when found a forever home. Playing & riding in that SNOW , COULDNT GET ANY BETTER! 🐴❄️🌬🌨
Beautiful Girl. What a great character formed by patience and trust. Nicely done
What a beautiful Mustang with such a spirit. Amazing work and now she’s got an amazing life in Finland. Wow! Love it!
What a wonderful story! So refreshing hearing your general attitude, training approach, and especially your compassion and patience! Ive been around alot of trainers of all kinds, and not all of them half your heart, or push them to make it by a certain date. However, I do understand though the horse business can be a very tough one and often its feast or famine. There does seem to be something special about her....maybe its her survival attitude and it just shines through her? Watching the 2 of you bond was heartwarming as well.Thank you for sharing. After raising horses for 36 years, I knew about all your steps and what all it takes, and you did everything perfect in my book...FOR SURE A top 10! Because of you, she now has a wonderful life and who knows what may have happened to her otherwise. Thank you for saving her.
My cousin adopted two mustangs when he lived in Wyoming. They moved to Indiana with the family, when he moved back home. Both beautiful Grey's like Luna.
Wow this brought tears to my eyes. A tough beginning and such a beautiful ending. Thank you for doing what you do.
What a captivating story. Such beauty! Thank you for sharing, and for loving these magnificent creatures.
This is most beautiful. The pictures at the end..... Bareback and bitless, a beauty in the snow. Who'd have ever dreamed that up. In your hands, gloved or bare, lies the freedom, hiding there.... Slowly, slowly it comes awake, a new horse, still free but this time.... a loving heart to take.... With you, on an adventure
I am so happy for Luna and her forever home! What a beautiful horse and story! You both do such a wonderful job with this mustangs! Thanks for sharing!
Hello from Queensland Australian.. I can honestly say I have enjoyed this video more than any ever before ... lovely lady what you achieved with that beautiful mustang in such a short time, brings tears to my eyes.... awesome.... can’t wait to watch it again, and others I hope...thank you 😘

Incredible training for such a nervous little gal! Happy for her outcome and new home
You do an AMAZING job!!! So glad trainers like yourself and your husband work with these amazing horses!! You definitely should have been in top ten!! You did a remarkable job!!! She is gorgeous!!!
I love your video of Luna. How awesome she ended up living her best life bitless in Finland
I love watching all your videos, love your methods, love the way yours and Isidros methods complement each other... largely because of you I have adopted my own Mustang who will come to me in June. As a lifetime horsewoman, training a wild mustang is one of the only things I haven’t done. Using positive methods, clicker training where you can and letting the horse sometimes choose or not where appropriate, you have demonstrated techniques that obviously work for you and these techniques are ones I totally believe in myself. Thank you for what you do for mustangs, and for sharing everything you put into them with us here through video.

Really BEAUTIFUL story. While Watching was crying.... Beautiful horse. All of them are living treasury! Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful! You did great with her! She really matches her Finland surroundings. ❤️
This is such a beautiful story, poor girl with the saddle though, I bet no one was expecting that reaction with so much ground work. We are going to the Mustang Makeover in Germany next month and cannot WAIT! My son has just helped to rescue a cob colt so I will show him your training and desensitisation 👍 loved the fairytale ending

I'm also from europe and It's a true dream of mine to adopt a mustang once, so it's super interesting to hear about her story. What a wonderful job you did!

Wow! Beautiful ending! From Renton. WA
What a beautiful girl!! Thank you for doing this, makes my heart full--I live in Oregon and love to see these beauties saved.
Aw I'm so happy for her.💗💗💗💗
Wow her back up and stop are great!!!
What a beautiful mustang 🤗and and what a beautiful way that you handled her, I just knew that she would eventually be ridden bareback!!!...that's how I always rode my horses when I was growing up, and often times with just a halter, or nothing at all, she fits her new owner beautifully. Thank you so much for what you do, I truly enjoyed watching this video, God bless you and all the horses you work with, and have in Jesus Name always, God bless you 😊Amen.
Another great video! What a nice happy ending.
She's gorgeous! I'm so glad you had so much patience for her. I'm originally from Nevada and we had bands of Mustangs all around the area. Outside of city limits they had the pens that to me were horrible. They were always so full and with a purchase of just 100.00 at the time (I don't know how much it is now) there were certainly those who bought these amazing animals with nefarious intent. This program is just wonderful. I wish so much I was in a position to participate too! ❤

Sassy Kat the pens are super full anymore which is nice, but still so many that need homes.
This was so fun to watch! I'm in the western wash area myself! Gig harbor area, that Monroe facility is difficult to compete at!
This made me so happy!
Wow this is incredible to watch its like looking at a twin of my own mustang, except different colored. Even down to the weird freezing up when you turn to pet them, the issue turning right and the gaited trotting. So weird! Lol
Really enjoyed it.
What a fantastic story. She’s a beautiful Cinderella! I’m so glad that she found a home with a lot of warmth and love.
This was my favorite.
Beautiful horse!!!
My mom rescued a mare at auction nearly 10 years ago. She was a "loose horse" so we didn't know anything about her. She is almost an exact duplicate of Luna. I named her Silver. When we brought Silver home, we could not even get near her. It wasn't long after that she delivered a baby, which unfortunately passed away shortly after because her mom brought home a case of shipping fever (that's what my mom called it). We had no idea that she was pregnant, which was very ironic because my mom bred Thoroughbreds. XD Almost a year after we got her, I was able to catch her and lead her around. Now that I have my driver's license and I am able to drive the 60 miles to my parents, I have been working with her as often as I can. I really want to be able to ride Silver and do some tricks with her. I think she would be great at it, seeing as she the most intelligent look in her eyes.
Oh wow, what a story.
Wonderful methods. Lovely girl. Glad to hear she has a happy home. She's a nice mover.
You did a hell of a job, be proud. She turned out awesome 💞💕🤣
Beautiful to see
With patience and love you achieve so much .Being a horse trainer myself I really enjoyed this video. I wish people would take notice of this amazing video.
