@@ryanwentrouge6907 2015. And I'm happy with it. It was cheaper, I find the ports great, I used the HDMI output so many times. And yeah it's not quite as fast, but neither can really game well, and it does stuff alright. It does get very hot.

There's no comparison. You should just go straight for the 2015 15". It's got a quad-core CPU, a real dedicated GPU, a real keyboard with real function keys, a real hinge with built-in real backlight cable that never fails and real ports. Plus, you can even upgrade the SSD.

I can't stand the touch bar on the more expensive versions I really hope they drop that. USBC isn't there yet so I'm staying on 2015 for a few years probably till standards move on

Edmundo studios I totally agree. I returned mine for the MacBook Pro with touchbar. It was so annoying having to glance at the keyboard all the time to see what it was doing. I ended up buying the 256gb Pro w/o touchbar and enjoy using so much more. The only thing I wish I could’ve kept was Touch ID. But I can live without it.

British Person Next year, whenever they get refreshed, it could be March, June, or for whatever reason it could even be near the end of the year. I feel like it’s likely to be earlier though. It’s a pretty significant update to wait for though, I think it’s worth it.

Apple Bits I need a laptop for a levels and university pretty soon, and I'm willing to spend more on a MacBook than a windows laptop; they just last longer. I won't be doing that heavy work on it, so I'm not sure if I really need a quad core processor. That being said, I need the laptop to last about 6 years. Will the 13inch MacBook Pro cut it?

I honestly believe both laptops are great. Grant the 15inch is older but it's pretty good and will last a very long. The 13inch is great cause of thunderbolt 3, you can basically turn into a strong desktop

I had to choose between a base model 2017 13", or an older 15", as I couldn't afford nearly £2000 for a new 15" model. I asked on some forums, and ended up going for a 15" model last week, with quad core i7, for just £575. It's from 2013, and its Geekbench scores are around 12500 vs the mid 14000 for a brand new 15", but it was mint condition and runs logic perfectly. I think now going used is the most sensible option, I've got more ports, more screen, and a lot more power (I5 dual core vs i7 quad core), for nearly a quarter of the price!

good video. I've a similar idea to you. I just bought a sealed 2015 MBP15 with MX370 for heavy duty work off eBay and use a 12 inch M5 Macbook 2016 and iPad Pro for on the go work (use both with duet and have same footprint combined as 13 inch Macbook 2015).

Which one should I get? I prefer the bigger one because I have bigger hands, but I plan to keep it for atleast 4 years so I'm wondering how will it's performance keep up. Will it bug like a win laptop? Or should I just wait for newer models to come out this year and purchase the 2017 15 inch model instead when the price drops (if it drops at all)? I'll mainly use it for university (programming to be more specific).

I have the 13 inch MacBook Pro late 2013. I have had it for about 5 years now, and it still works great. I would say the speed is the same as when I bought it. The only letdown for me is the RAM. I got the 4 GB model (which Apple doesn't sell anymore), and that is not enough at all. I am thinking about getting the 15 inch 2015 model with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD storage for my engineering studies next year. For programming I have heard performance isn't as important, so I think you would be happy with either the 2017 or 2015 models. But I would advise you to get enough RAM and SSD storage

Which one is faster? Which would you suggest getting if I had to pick between the two?

Hey definitely go with the 15 inch Mbp2015 It has got a quad core processor which is essential for photo editing, the mbp 13 inch could handle this too but it‘s way slower than doing it with the 15 inch model, also if u want to run a lot of apps and tabs it‘s way better to stick with the 15 inch model because of the quad core! hope i could help u!

The lightup logo should prob. be the last thing on your list. "Does it come in teal?".... Just kidding :). Macbook pro's are typically relevant for about 6 years. And honestly, even beyond that if you aren't doing video editing or intensive processor/graphics card work. I'm on my 2011 mbp now. Now that I am doing video and graphics editing again, I need a new mac. It took basically until now for this computer to not be enough for me. And other than graphics card stuff, it is an awesome computer.

13". 15" is too big. I swtiched to 13" about 1 year ago and it is more than enough for coding, video editing, graphic design, etc. Seriously. If anything get an external display for stuff.

15” MB Pro is the second best MacBook ever created, just behind the 2012.

the oversized track pad is a huge fail - no one types like that - hands in the air. the SSD is soldered to the board on the 2016/2017 - that's right the SSD that will eventually fail is soldered to the board. W T F ?
