    I believe the Ford v8 towed about 8000 lbs for 4 mpg. Really this wasn't bad, 4k more pounds and it had better mpg. Put this on a moral level roadway and at sea level and you could squeeze maybe 10-12mpg out of it with the same weight.

    They were 100lbs shy of the gvw in the 6.2 video. They’re the same here only the gvw is 200lbs higher on the diesel. From my understanding at least.

    my 18 6.7 f250 did on a 7 degree grade with a 10500 camper at 70 mph at 2800 rpms. and it wanted to go faster. on the way down same grade i actually had to speed up to keep up with traffic because of the exhaust brake. these trucks pull like freakin trains. this video convinced me to go with the ford and i dont regret it a bit.

    I never understood the cost increase for the king ranch and platinum. 25k to 30k markup for leather power adjustable seats, power mirrors, leather panels on the dash, slightly more expensive paint, and a more expensive entertainment system. They use the same engine, trans, transfer case, axels, body panels (other than logo stamping) and the interior is the same minus the materials on panels. That's a huge markup for minimal gain. I would completely get it if you got better mechanicals with the price, but your buying stuff that really doesn't matter. Maybe I am just old school...

    Bunz21 everyone is free to get what they want, my comment was more towards how ridiculous it is to pay 30k more for what amounts to very little substance. If it had better engines/driveline/etc it would make sense. For example It's not like comparing a base model focus to a RS, the RS costs 20k more, but your getting almost 200hp extra, all new suspension/driveline, new seats/interior pieces, etc. That makes complete sense to me.

    Lake School Restoration Channel I agree 100%, in 5-7 years those plastic panels and pleather seat surfaces will hold no real value to the truck, it's all in the drivetrain. I'd rather have a good cloth interior with more power and capabilities than all of that on the inside. BTW, I'm old school like that too...

    Adam Gaines I agree with you here's another thing the new ford super duty's have a lot stronger under body then the Chevy and ram all Chevy did was put a really powerful motor into it and ram is still last in reliability the ford placed 1st to reach 200k with out issues Chevy placed 2nd, I don't think you can go wrong with the ford or Chevy but the ford has bigger under body components thing the Chevy and the ford looks better in my opinion.

    I love you guys videos all the way around but have wondered for a while now, why don't you use cruise control set at the speed limit for Ike Gauntlet? That way every vehicle will preform the same and eliminate human error. You could even set the cruise on a different area prior to starting and then hit resume at the yellow merge sign to get an across the board even test. Just a thought.

    Nathan I can totally understand if they don't fit correctly because that's part of the reason I dislike square fender wells over round tires and again its just my opinion but I like the hard plastic dash boards and the door panels are fine with me too. The trucks with soft materials where working men lay their sweaty arms on the door panels after a day of work wears and discolors the soft material out faster

    I don't follow Dodge or Chevy as closely, but don't they share a cab between 1500 and HD series? He acts like his mind is blown that Ford is doing that but I'm pretty sure that most everybody does that to save costs. Also, I hate to be the one to break it to him, but a $76k truck is going to share some features with the work trucks (XL). Which means a panel or two will be plastic. They aren't going to add 2" of padded rubber covered to suede on every body panel inside a King Ranch. Both the cab sharing and the cheaper parts of the interior are to save money. Neither one of these are news in the HD truck industry

    The thing I hate about this channel is your inconsistency in your tests. If you're going to test for things like fuel milage in a truck vs truck comparison, you need to have as close to the exact same conditions as possible. Same guy driving the truck, same overall final drive ratio for flat ground mileage tests, same total combined weight, same rear gear ratio for hill climbing and mpg while climbing, same atmospheric conditions. Fuel milage is the final result of many factors like the ones I've listed but the single, and usually largest one, is the nut behind the wheel. If you accelerate wide open and then pedal drive it, you're going to have a completely different result than if you accelerate at a modest rate and then turn on cruise control. I understand not all trucks are smart enough to be able to be left on cruise control and so in that case the nut is just going to have to do their best job. Overall though, most cruise controls are way smarter and more efficient than any human could ever be if a constant speed is your desired test medium in obtaining mpg. You guys just have way too many variables in your "tests" for them to be considered accurate in head to head testing and so they are misleading at best, and flat out dishonest at worst. I know that it's impossible to have a truly exact head to head test but you need to try to take out as many variables as possible. The only variable that should and needs to exist is your personal feelings on each truck about what you liked and what you disliked.

  • @bradleymyrick2315
    @bradleymyrick23156 жыл бұрын

    Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, I’m learning. The reason they couldn’t tow more than 12,500 pounds (besides the trailer not being strong enough) was because they maxed out the GVW of the truck? So how could the truck tow 15,000 pounds without exceeding this number? (10,000 lbs.)

  • @MikeNaples

    @MikeNaples

    5 жыл бұрын

    The reason is that particular F250 has very little payload capacity. 2080 lbs is not much payload for a heavy duty truck. My F150 is rated at 2037 lbs payload. The payload in this vid gets used up by the tongue weight of the trailer which should be ~10-15% of the weight of the trailer and the two riders. That truck can pull a mountain, just can't carry it. The companies usually publish max stats though they will vary vehicle to vehicle.

    My 19 f250 Lariat Crew Cab 4x4 Diesel is the best pick for the money. (See my vids of it)...it has Heat/cooled leather, power everything, snow plow pkg, dual alternators, rapid heat supplemental heater, all for sticker price of $66,950. If you don’t do 20” wheels and sunroof and Lariat ultimate pkg and the tailgate fold step, you can still be out the door for under $66k for a 19. There’s no reason to go to $76k and more ...you don’t get enough extra value for the 10 grand. I put sweet LED headlights in for most all the exterior lamps. You don’t need Fords $1300 LED package or Adaptive Cruise for $7000 lol That should be free by now, all the new dumb Toyota’s have it included standard lol

    You may give Range Rover a hard time for their mechanicals but their interior quality is top notch. When you're paying this much for a truck with an identical drivetrain to the base truck your money should go somewhere besides the chromed plastic badge.

    Well, looking at all of your vids, the GM and Dodge are consistent. The Ford, not so much. The 450 looked like it handled the 30k like a boss, the 250 handled 12k with no issues. Do you not think something was off with the 350 test? You stated its sluggishness with 22k is why you gave it such low scores, with no mention of the interior like you did here(and they should be identical with the only differences in small detail). I would like to see another run with the 350 at that weight, or better yet, it and the dodge and max capacity to see if the Ford is just set up to run that way.
