Exactly! It feels good to be " normal "... I just purchased a 2017 F350 XL gas but it has more options in it than any other XL I've seen so I'm actually thinking that someone ordered the truck but then maybe the deal fell through? The sales guy at the dealer referred to my truck as a freak. Keep up the great reviews !

Adam Sone , it depends, for a 1 ton truck i think it rides very nice. It doesn't handle "chatter " bumps too smooth but most of the time it's actually quite comfy. I'm usually towing a construction trailer but i did drop the p.s.i. in the rear.

The 6.2 is ideal for me. It pulls my Jeep and trailer through the hills with no problem, and when I go out to my hunting camp, the additional weight of the diesel isn't of benefit when crossing swampy areas. The 6.2 is no diesel, but it feels much stronger than its 5.4 predecessor and stronger than the 6.0l Chevy I had before it.

Gary Stark I test drove an f250 gas and I gotta say their 6.2 is stout. Such a superb engine with a good power curve. I was very impressed. I think anyone who buys the 6.2 f250 will be more than pleased with it. Chevys 6.0 is bulletproof but it just feels like it belongs in a half ton even tho it has good power for pulling. The whole lineup is impressive

I bought a 2017 F-250, in November of that year. It was one of the last trucks sold before the small dealership closed. I paid 30K..I added a rear view camera, tinted windows and running boards. And of course under coating. 36K all done. It's been a great truck. hauling 12 foot trailer loads from Ohio to NC. You would never know it was on there. I have pulled aprox. 12K pounds of cattle a few times. That you can feel. But With 67K miles, I had no problems at all with the truck. I used it for much more than I ever expected. I love the truck. I find the locking rear difs very useful. One of the reasons for the discount was no one liked the vinyl floors. I love them. Having dogs and living on a farm, it is so easy to clean the truck

So far we have pulled it 1500 kilometers (sorry, I'm Canadian) and are planning to leave Ontario in 3 weeks and head to Jasper, Banff, Vancouver, Vancouver Island and return via Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone. Your videos have been a wealth of valuable information. Before we go I am having "E" rated tires installed to replace the "D" rated Chinese manufactured tires. Thank you for that one bit of advice which I suspect would have caused us a lot of grief in the middle of our trip. We are 65 years old and never RV'ed before. A steep learning curve ahead!

A lot of us horse people in England use old Land-Rover Defenders, which are alluminum bodied. Pretty durable, and stand up to punishment well, but they do dent pretty easily. Never seen one rip though. With this Truck, I'd find it a bit too utilitarian for my taste. Bit of a softy I'm afraid, I like my comfort. Don't care so much for electronic gizmos, but I like to sit on leather, with armrests, seat heaters, and aircon for summer. Do like a bit of wood trim as well. For those long trips, I need to feel I'm sitting in a nice place, especially when spending many hours in the vehicle at a time. Entire days sometimes. On our Range-Rovers, we get heated steering wheels too, might sound like a gimmic, but man it's nice on those cold mornings. On this budget, I think I'd look at a 2 year old Truck with say 50,000 on the clock and have a King-Ranch. It's barely run in at that anyway, and probably just as dependable as a newun. Less of a depreciation hit too. But that's just me. I do understand the appeal of having a brand new vehicle though, so I couldn't blame anyone for choosing this Truck. You pays your money etc.....

I had the opportunity to drive a 2017 f350 6.2 with a 39 ft fifth wheel. I was totally impressed. A diesel would pull better, But I will not own any newer diesel due to cost And emissions. The 6.2 got it done very well, And it was so quiet to ride in. Many times I found myself running 70 mph it felt like you were going 40. I was looking at replacing my 7.3 with a Chevy HD, But after driving the Ford I think I am going with it with the 6.2. It is nice seeing a review of a gas truck for a change. Great review, Thanks

That center “mini” console is not typical and a fleet only option and would not be typical. Most of these would have 40-20-40 bench with flip down console. The vinyl flooring is not “premium” but standard. There is a premium vinyl option on higher trim levels that includes padding under it that the standard vinyl does not have.

Good review. I paid about the same for my 2017 F250 Lariat with the 6.7 PSD. Took a lot of shopping to find it though. I have a company vehicle so I typically drive my truck on the weekends and for longer trips. A lot of that is towing or hauling. My F150 sat for weeks on end because it only got 13mpg. This one is even worse. My father in law has the 6.2 and the milage is horrible and he's said he didn't want to deal with the DEF in the diesel, but would buy it now if he could. I have towed 13k+ and the power of the diesel was fantastic to have. As far as maintenance, it's not as bad as most would have others believe. Yes, more oil and fuel filters are added to the cost, but at the required intervals, it's not really a big issue. The regen of the diesel is a minor inconvenience that I don't care for, but worth the trouble for the power and mileage I get. I would not buy a diesel truck at full price with what they're wanting for them which is why it took so long to find.

Personally I think that Toyota has the best approach to an opening rear window. Having the entire panel slide down like all the side windows is kinda neat and it could offer so pretty good access to the box from in the cab. I'm not a huge fan of the way a sliding window looks or how it catches lots of dust, etc.

I love Fords they have been my truck of choice for years and in 2015 I decided to try a Ram 2500 4X4 Crew Cab with an 8ft. long box Tradesman 2 with the 6.4 LTR Hemi engine and so far I really like the truck. It is a tall truck and I did install running boards and mud flaps and the cab has the clearance lamps on the cab plus its all setup for a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer, it has a nice center console that lifts up into a center seat. I only paid $37,900 for it New and it came with the 18" Firestone TransForce TA Tires which are really great tires. The interior on my Ram puts this 2017 Ford F250 to shame and plus the Ford sells for around $7,000 more than the Ram. Ford needs to step up its game if they are going to compete with Chevy and Ram. The Ford in this video is really stripped down for such a high price tag. I still love Fords but they need to step back and take a hard look at what their competitors are offering for a lesser price tag. Chevy I'm not sure what their trucks are offering and their prices but I will say they have some really sweet looking trucks on the road.

A trailer jackknife poked a hole in the bed of our F-150. The aluminum tore like paper. It’s been almost a year since, and the tear has gotten larger. Additionally, the paint has begun to peel. The most inconvenient factor is that the bed can not be repaired, it must be replaced.

I have a 2016 Super Duty with 6.2. I've had it just over 2 years and really love it. It's got more than enough power to haul my 4500# camper and the sound the engine makes as I accelerate is a treat in itself. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that does a lot of driving. It works for me because I only take it out once or twice per month. I'm satisfied getting 10-11 mpg hwy because the miles are so low. If you plan on driving a 6.2 Super Duty 10K or more yearly, you'll need deep pockets for fueling.

Awesome review. I have had many flavors of the F250-F350. The quality from 2011 to 2015 was improved to a huge degree and much better now. The gasser is the ticket. I float around the XL-XLT. If you shop hard the XLT can be had cheaply enough. The rubber flooring is the only way to go if you really use these trucks. The undersides are just as beautiful as the outside these days. I got a 6.7L in 2011 ( first year) only because they had a $9K rebate. After the warranty the diesel is just too complicated to deal with. Oh the vinyl interior is the bomb. Ford cloth isn't attractive and now is like $995. option. Many people thought my vinyl interior was leather-really! Great review.

Just purchased a 2012 6.2 getting empty 14 mpg doing 60. Haven’t had a chance to tow yet but am certainly excited to see how it pulls my 23’ trailer. A bit overkill but the payload was the winner which I believe is rated at 3k. It was this or the Tundra and the more I looked into it the less a Tundra appealed for me and my family needs. A great truck for occasional towing. The ride is a little rough over some roads but I expected that being a truck. A buddy of mine has continued to buy diesels even when both of his Fords crapped out. He bought a third. Smh. Too many stories about diesel which made me go gas. Safe travels all.

After seeing how the STX is equipped it amazes me how some of the oilfield companies would order their XL Superdutys. I bought a 2011 F250 CCLB 4wd 6.7 that was ordered for one of the bigger oil services fleets with all of the features to the point that the only difference between this truck and an XLT was the lack of chrome, rear seat cupholders, power seat, carpet (I preferred the rubber floors anyway) and the automatic headlights. It came with backup sensors, SYNC, and the steering wheel radio controls. On top of that the company had also put replacement bumpers on both ends, headache racks, and B&W hitches. Just because the truck says XL on the side doesn't mean it's guaranteed to have manual windows...and no arm rests ;)

Good review. My work truck is basically the same as the review, a 2017 F250 XL standard cab 6.2L motor. Now for my observations after 6 months of driving it. My old work truck was a 2000 Chevy standard cab 6.0L gas motor. So you will see my perspective. I don’t like the new Ford. It’s much bigger than my old Chevy. So it’s a pain in the ass to park around town or in parking lots. Also, it feels really weird with the throttle response, the computer controls the throttle rather than your foot. But my biggest complaint is the fuel mileage, I’m only getting 8-8.5 mpg around town in this Ford. If I personally owned this truck, I couldn’t afford to drive it. Also, the ride is a bit more choppy than my old Chevy, important if you drive a lot like I do for work. And like was mentioned, the Ford sits higher, so you are literally climbing into the truck, I had to get running boards to make that a bit easier. But I expect the boards to get smashed one day off-roading. Now I tow with this truck, it has plenty of power, more than my old Chevy. I’m towing fork lifts, tractors, big mowers, usually over 15,000GVW. So that’s a plus. Over all, I don’t think it’s worth the $40,000 my job paid for it. Heck, I could buy a small house with that amount of money. Of course I’m a silly Luddite, who personally owns an old 1981 F250 4x4 manual trans 300 six. 😎

We bought this exact truck but with cab lights and duel batteries and back up camera. We tow a 1999 fifth wheel 30’ gvwr 9,500 just fine. If you actually do some research diesel trucks from the 90’s vs todays GAS trucks make almost or more than the power of the older diesels. Proof is we use to tow our exact fifth wheel with our 96 7.3 powerstroke and this 6.2 gasser has more horsepower and about the same power in torque. Just kind of a neat observation.

I moved from the 2011 1/2 ton Ecoboost to the 2018 6.2 F250 and will say the ride is for sure stiffer but the trade off is when you hit bigger/harsher bumps. When those bumps in the road are bigger or harsher it is not as jolting as it is in the half ton. One other not, without the console that truck needs armrests!

2013 f250 6.2 gassser here. Pros: Great power, not diesel but pretty good. Handles payload great. Seatbelt stopped retracting one year in otherwise no problems. Cons: Rides kinda rough but it’s a truck. Stupid low tire air warning system that sounds everytime you start the truck when a tire is below 80 psi. I don’t want that high psi in my rears unless I’m loaded or towing. Ford, either make the alarm adjustable by the owner or put the system on its own breaker so we can disable it.

Good review, I've been waiting for this one for awhile! I think you might be the first one on youtube to review a gasser. I was hoping it would be more impressive however. I think Ford missed an opportunity here to really bump the numbers up on their 6.2. Keep up the good work! These things are rated to pull 15,000 pounds! Could you actually see yourself hauling that kind of weight with that gas truck?

You do a good job with your video. I really like the fact you use a tape measure for certain features. One thing I've wondered is at its tallest point of the truck how tall is it? In a stock position the new 250s look too tall to go into a 7 foot garage.

Diesel engines are for people who work their trucks in the ground, they're not grocery getters. If you live on the road and are constantly driving them at highway speeds they'll last, If it's sits too much they won't.

My understanding is that steel can be popped out on a light dent. Aluminum can not be popped out because it streaches as it creases. I owned an aluminum 2015 f150 now I have a steel 2016 f250. Edit: Also the 2015 seemed when closing the doors to be extremely solid thud, on the f250 it almost sound cheap and does not give that confident sound I got from the 15. Just my personal experience.

I have looked at a new F250 optioned almost the same as this one. It is a very nice heavy duty truck. One thing though is the ride height of the truck. Without the optional step bars it is a real bear to get into and out of because of the door sill height.
