Aging gracefully the current A8 is a bit of a bargain in the large German lux car segment

Still amazes me how gracefully this gen A8 aged. Compare it to the last gen 7 and S and the interiors of those really look old/like last gens.
Mate I've been searching for a review on a 2017 audi a8 for a whole day and I see you made a video 48 minutes ago... You're awesome!
I must commend you on the sheer quality of your videos. They are fantastic. Keep it up👍🏾👍🏾
Nick. Your videos are fun to watch. Hope all is well in Westport these days. Have a good one.
NIck your videos very high quality. I really think they are helping Make America great again!
such a beautiful car
I like the A8 just fine, but man, my favorite part of this video was all the gorgeous changing leaves in CT right now. It does make me miss the Northeast quite a bit, as we don't have any of that down here in New Orleans. Beautiful video just for the driving scenes alone, Nick.
Fantastic job on the review Nick! I do wish you would have reviewed the rear seats like you used to do on your earlier videos, especially since the rear seats in these luxury cars are pretty important. But then again when I do buy one I probably wouldn't ever sit in the back ;)
Got one of these with the 4.2 V8 Diesel. I love it. Autobahn monster.
Those Autumn colours are stunning
Beautiful scenery Nick....
Hey nick I think I have seen you before a long time ago at air ocean my dad works there once in a while on the choppers. Love your vids!
I'm not sure if you need a subscription for it, or if it's an option that wasn't selected, but most A8s, A6s, and even many A4s that I've been in had google maps navigation with a more detailed nav screen. The D4 generation A8 is really a great car as you've said, the 4.0T is probably my favorite engine of the range, but I drove the W12 recently and it was amazing how it moved the car with so little effort. Around town, the tach scarcely moves at all!
Well judged review, I agree with virtually everything you said although I personally don't mind the grill at all, that said on the Prologue concept car you can see where Audi will be going with the next A8 and I think you'll still see a very prominent grill but lower and wider.
Nick...hope all is well with your friends and family back home in N. Z.
Love your videos
Very nice. Would love to see you do a review of the 2017 BMW 5/7 Series.
ooooh new A8!!! excited to watch video!!!
Great video!, you should review the S5 also! :P
Great review!! I would like to see a review of the new Panamera, specially the hybrid version!!!
The previous generation was the best looking A8/S8. I am looking forward to seeing the next generstion in hopes that the design is a bit nicer than the current one.
Great video Nick, as usual! Is that colour Ibis White?
Great Video!
Not sure if you addressed it on social media already but I hope your family and everyone is ok back home. That earthquake must have been scary.
Just the kind of info most people want to get if they're considering a car such as this. In a future show perhaps you could review three nearly identical cars that have been on the road for 3-5 years and talk about the long term ownership experiences.
Can you use manual focus, it keeps changing.
The area you are driving around looks so beautiful :)

Hey Nick, what is the name of that hand held device that you are using to stabilize the gopro?
I was just out that way a few months ago, don't remember seeing that many for sale signs, it looks like half the town is up for sale. 😄
Will you do an S8 review? Because you are somewhat right that this car is for middle age person but in my humble opinion I think the s8 gives it that spark of youth
Yesterday I picked up my new A6 Competition. While in the showroom, I sat in the backseat of a A8. Incredibly roomy, felt like a limo.🇨🇦
Would love to see a review of an Audi TT RS sometime.
Waiting for Audi S5 review :D And when the new S4 is out please do a comparison of BMW 340i and S4. Too much to ask?
Great details I love the A8Ls the 4.0 sport looks better with front bottom fender and the sport wheels.
what's with the little pillows? on the top of each headrest?
that's one of the nicest Passats I've ever seen.

Get that S5 on the channel 👍 your excitement for the A8 rubbed off on your review which was on the duller side for you 😂
Nick, Please do a review on an RS7. Base model will do but ideally the Performance model is what we want to see. Thx
Do that S5 review before the snow hits!
Would you be interested in reviewing a 2016 340i xDrive?
Won't it depreciate even faster once the new model is released shortly, negating any benefit you get by getting it a bit cheaper now?
Good point with the grill, here in Europe it doesen´t look that huge because big part of it is covered by the front plate.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe the Audi A8 L shares the same chassis as the Bentley Flying Spur. In essence, he is basically driving the poor mans Bentley, but the biggest bang for your buck in terms of Audi's comfort excellence. Overall, a good video!
nick, can you review the new nsx? you might receive legendary status
I love the A8
I believe there is a massage option for the 911 991.2 as well?
It's not turbo, it's a mech compressor providing the forced induction. If the S5 also is a 3.0, it is the same engine as in the sled.
I agree on the grill being to big but on EU cars (I'm from The Netherlands) the big grill is broken up a bit by a front numberplate. That makes it a lot less in your face as with the US cars without the plate. I actually had to look it up to see whether US spec had a different grill because I didnt remember the A8 having such a large grill.
I own a 2011 A8L. It's def. one of the most underrated cars on the road. You just have to drive it for awhile to understand what I mean. It's the only way it can be truly appreciated. Maybe the biggest perk is the lack of maint. it needs compared to a BMW or Mercedes.
Is this torsen Quattro?
Saw a A8 L a week ago and nearly didn't notice. It's almost as under the radar as a Phaeton
Liked the old A8 design better, it looked more round and fat, but thi "new" one aged well also :) The white color suits the car nice. I would go for the 4.2 V8 TDI offered here in the EU...
Good choice of an engine
That $1500 option pack is a steal as you say, by design of course. Still, you can't argue it's not value for money.
There's something wrong with the video quality. You can see it at the beginning of the video when you look at the pavement. Looks like it's way too overcompressed. Don't know if it's the camera or if KZread is doing that.

Yes it is perfect before I upload it but for whatever reason KZread messes with my videos.
Nick, I enjoy the way you present cars/helicopters/drone gizmos ...etc. , but how about motorcycles? When will we see a review of a nice bike? It will certainly be fun to see Albert on the pillion seat!

Nick, in your opinion, which mainstream luxury car brand has the best quality leather?
@NickMurray
7 жыл бұрын
MB or even some of the American brands. The best leather I know of is found in the BMW M cars, soft and hard wearing.
Decent review. His accent is like sour wine.
nice car of course. where's the new ride

RazorFX We have them here in New Zealand and while they're impressive motors (particularly the 4 litre V8 twin turbo diesel) is take the twin turbo petrol S8 Plus every time, particularly given the age of it design now it's still extremely impressive.

Your friend from Cornell?
DUDE!!! THAT STUFFED ANIMAL'S EYES MOVED. OMG!
You are correct,on the grills being to large. Lexus ruined there look with the over sized grills on there newer models. Nice review.
Nice Nick but ah when is the next helicopter review? And what will it be?

I'd much rather have an S-Class. They seem to age better and I'd much prefer to spend the money on a Benz.
@user-hs2hd7wp9g

Because you're more concerned about brand recognition than the quality of the actual car. The A8 is just as good as the S-Class, it's just a matter of taste.
Nick, you need a decent watch
Nick! Is your family in New Zealand okay?

3.0?!
I like the back of the a7 more
It's certainly a bargain compared to the Bentley!
Mr. Nick, There is no 6-cyl S-Class, so you can't compare $120k
7 years later I’m going to buy one soon for around 20k 😂
I'd take the Lexus LS600 over this, reliability is better and I think the interior is actually better as well. Nice car though

Really? I think you have the models mixed up. I just looked on the Audi Belgium web site and the starting price for the A8 L 3.0 is 83,715 euro which is USD90k and that is the base, when configured like the US model with the LED and all the standard stuff the US gets it is 97,401 euro.
@fbhacent

Nick Murray yes thats at an audi dealership but we have lots of independent salesmen who specialize in luxury cars and also give you the audi warrantee and everything and they sell those cars cheaper. mostly companies buy premium cars from their respective dealerships, regular people buy em from those independent dealerships. the proce for an A8L 3.0tdi is 67k euros, and thats a diesel, petrol cars are cheaper. an audi a8L 4.2 tdi is around 77k euros. i just ordered myself an audi a6 3.0tdi biturbo, the price at the dealership is over 100k euros amd im only paying 78k euros.
@fbhacent

I have all the warrantees i would get if i bought it from the audi dealership and im paying way less :)
If one wants to go incognito, 911 is a perfect car for that. (since it looks just like minivan)
You drive an Audi everyday when you get in your VW???

Lemmings don't actually go off cliffs.
audi a8 very good ı love you audi a8
2011 was the first year of that gen.
You knew Marcus Aurelius?
Having been in a few, audis just don't feel special to me. They feel like expensive Volkswagens. Which ends up making me either want to go for a Vw, or just go for a Merc or BMW. They're great cars but perhaps just not for me. Also interesting fact, audis are more expensive to run per kilometre (service cost), than a Merc or BMW, especially apparent in the more expensive cars.
Audi was much too timid with this third generation of A8. In some ways the second generation A8 actually looks fresher than this third generation. Of course, the flagship luxury class is conservative, but even so, people don't want to spend big bucks to buy what looks like an old car.
Audi A8's should be obtained with V8s. It's in the name. Audi 5000 = Audi 100 = Audi A6 = Audi 100 V8 = Audi A8
I like Albert better than the Audi
Supercharged not turbocharged, big difference ;)

Imad S; actually, now that you typed that. I can't remember the last time I heard myself say that over the loud noise of my 8 digit bank account (getting close to 9!). When you HAVE to go to work tomorrow or when you see your mom, ask for a $20, maybe you can muffle the sound for about 5 minutes. LMAO!
what a plain jane looking car for 80k. That grille makes it look like a baleen whale too.
From behind you can't tell if it is a A8 or A4.
