When I was a little girl,I would have dreams like this!! At then end my Dad would say,"Now pick which one you want"!!!

At their website, which I linked under another comment here, it reads " Sombrero’s Horse Drive has been a spring tradition since 1959, as we move our herd across the spectacular sagebrush country of far western Colorado, from winter pasture to their summer homes." Apparently, these horses are owned by " Sombrero Ranches, Inc. and Colorado Horses, Inc. (who) offer clients horse rentals for summer camps, hunting, and private contracts. In an effort to allowing folk to experience Colorado as the early settlers did, in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains, we have taken care to preserve the land in anticipation of sharing the natural splendor of the Rockies with customers for generations to come. Many of our operations are conducted on public lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management or the National Park Service." ~ I wish information had been offered in the video description.

Noah V I started counting part way into the drive. Got your wondering why not one horse broke for open country? Must be many bands in the 400+ horses, seems against herd instinct for them to just follow. Amazing to even see video-must be life experience to be apart of this.

Are they all going for horse meat? Is every one a sausage on the hoof? Will they all spend the rest of their lives being taken care of by loving families , living in nice well appointed barns? With vets and farriers pandering to their every whim? Just how the wild horses of America spend their last years, would be interesting to know?

Do these horses loose there INDEPENDENCE and FREEDOM ??

Hi Combat Doc, The horses in this video are domestic horses and not wild horses. Once a year they drive them into town for their horse back tours. As I understand they are all trained trail horses.
