+Bryn Barker Don't think anyone watched Top gear cause of its analytical reviews which it never had. People watched it for being a fun show with 3 guys who together were amazing and funny. I doubt there will ever be such trio.

Bora Markovic The new Top Gear will fail if it tries to imitate the old show. It needs its own identity. This Xcar chap looks quite capable of non-serious car segments, although I expect the new Top Gear to be more serious than before anyway. Otherwise Clarkson's new show will slaughter them.

It hurts to think about the end of pure, natural engines, fingers crossed it doesn't happen for a very long time. At first I didn't really like the new R8, I thought the looks compared to the first generation where a bit off but my my, this vid has changed my mind. Great shots of the car guys & amazing vid overall. Long live natural aspiration!!!

Dude, you are my soulmate. So great to see someone having the same opinion on turbo and naturally aspirated engines. Turbos are so... Powerful, so crazy and so amazingly perfect. But a V10 like this just has... a SOUL.

Great video always from XCAR. A Corvette still hasn't gone the turbo route yet. Ditto for the Dodge Viper (unsure about ACR version)

720p50fps whaa..? No one should ever put a fixed spoiler on their supercar. It should always be retractable. This R8 looks sick though. On another note, how does this channel still have such amazing quality? This looks movie worthy.

I reckon the audio from 2:37 to 2:41 could possibly replace the V8 sound (from the older R8) in your intro.

I think the 2008 is amazing and timeless the 2019 is aggressive and really gt3 car inspired. But this 2016-2018 model in Ara blue is there most gorgeous car I have ever seen in my entire life, up there with the db5 and 250 gto for me.

Luv the car... Shame they didn't have a V8 options now.

Great review.NA engines are dwindling although in America they are still prevalent in a few segments. At some point that will go away with FI and hybridization.

I don't see why I should pay the premium on a 911 compared to a cayman. The audi r8 with it's big v10 on the other hand, seems like a different world compared to the TT. At Audi they really seem to know how to make a flagship car stand out! Great video!

I currently own the huracan performante and previously had the r8 and I can assure you the performante feels a lot more solid than the R8. Having said that one costs twice as much as the other so to be expected.

Sounds so similar like Huracan !!!

This Audi looks as if were inspired by the Huracan, Aventador, and Murcielago LP670-4 SV. I can't rationally see a dynamically styled car that also looks like their rather unassuming sedans.

Putting a manual gearbox in cars like this would be like making Usain Bolt run in flip flops, never mind that no one would buy one

I almost feel betrayed by the fact that there are only a few N/A supercars left in production... I know modern turbos are brilliant but there's just something about a naturally aspirated engine... Thank you lambo and audi, for remembering us petrolheads...

First time I've seen an R8 driven in the rain and noticed it doesn't have a wiper on the large engine bay cover! Or maybe thats an " extra ".....

Steering doesn't feel "precise"? And you have to get used to the brakes??? How would you compare it to a 2016 911 Turbo S?

So Turbo engines are more efficient than equivalent HP non turbos? Why do some people not like Turbos? I drove twin turbo GTRs briefly never really pushed em but didn't notice any turbo lag they seemed plenty fast and responsive, I also drove a Toyota Supra for a bit longer, and liked it's power as well, That one uses sequential turbos, which are supposed to prevent any turbo lag, it seems like a good idea.

This guy is ALMOST nearing Chris Harris... he just needs the drive like Chris. Chris can drive the shit out of any car you give him.

You can get a good example with a manual these days for relatively cheap.

I think I'm right in saying that only 3 production cars in the world still use the V10. This, the Huracan, and the Viper (which i believe is going to disappear soon)

I think that the old model looked better and since the basic powerplant was "only" a 420 HP V8 the distance in the cost from the R8 and the Gallardo had a lot of sense. The new one is not only ugly -too blocky, no sideblades- but also (Plus or not) uses a V10 which is so close in price to the Huracán that the Lambo directly competes against. And if you have to spent the same 200k € in an Audi or a Lambo the chances are that most of the fortunete people which can afford if will chose the more exclusive, higly stylized Huracán over the R8, in the same way that people chose the A8, 7 Series or S class over the Phaeton.

I've had Porsches for 10 years. Got bored with them...bought an R8Plus this year and have never looked back. Brilliant car, brilliant dealership at Poole Audi, unfortunately I can't say the same about Porsche at Ferndown who, to be honest, couldn't give a damn about keeping my business. Which to me has turned out to be a good thing - my R8 Plus is brilliant, a head turner, and much better in all respects than my previous 911s. No contest. Porsche at Ferndown need to get their act together!!

Since Huracan and the R8 are so similiar its all in the matter of which looks the best. Imo, the R8 looks better so...id rather have an Audi today than a Lambo....strange times.

Fun fact about the New R8: On the back of the New R8, where the black mesh is, behind it is the exaust system, and when you are in a track in night, you could see then glow red. Can that happen, where exhaust pipes overheat, it would turn red, is that right???
