I recently bought a 2002 Suzuki dr200. I was told the bike was stock, but now I realize someone did this same airbox drill mod to it. I’m having issues with air intake, there’s a leak somewhere. Idle issues, starting issues, running lean. Any advice? Next step is putting new intake manifold boot

Don't speak as much Spanish as I used to. If you are asking how this worked out, the bikes run a little better overall, but I still have issues with the pilot jet clogging if the bikes sit even for a week or so. I recently installed manual petcocks and run the bike dry before parking. This seems to be helping but the poor gas in California is the main factor.

If you are referring to a straight, clamp-on, like the K&N or UNI Universal, there are a couple of reasons. First, specific to the K&N is that I have more faith in a well-oiled stock filter than a K&N for dusty environments. Secondly, this bike sometimes sees wet weather or stream crossings. Pod filters offer no protection against moisture and sucking water into my carb is less than desirable. If this was strictly a dry weather or track bike, I would have no concerns over the UNI pod filters. It just depends on what you are doing with the bike.

You didn't say what jets you swapped to.

Well, jetting may be different on each bike. Opening up the air box some will require larger jets, opening the box up a lot, and adding a more open header/tip will require even larger jets. Different elevations may require different jets. It's best to do some research on either ADVrider.com or thumpertalk.com. Both of these sites have a lot of information on this subject.

@@sthrashed3612 is there a noticable power increase from this mod?

This is way late, but I didn't anticipate many people asking questions. Went with a 40 pilot and a 135 main, idle mixture out to 3.5 (from about 1.25), installed one shim to raise the needle

@@nsxproperties560 Again, way late, but no, not a huge difference in power. Of course, with the smaller displacement engines it wasn't really expected. The main reason I did this was to smooth out the power band and to help prevent some of the pilot-jet clogging that is common when using west coast gasoline.

So this is an even later post. When you placed the washer onto the needle, did you have to reapply the white washer you mentioned in the beginning that just sits on top that you mentioned not to lose??
