Mate, you have a great knack for explaining things. As an Aussie, I found it hilarious! Good stuff.

Well done to stiffen up the forks whilst maintaining as much travel as possible by removing the tighter wound coils that will suffer coil bind well before the wider ones on full compression

Cool build, but to make it even better do a carb swap. Some good choices are VM26-606, TM28 (pumper) or PWK 24-28mm.

This video is golden haha. I have your attitude towards the information. I've got a really clean DR200 and would probably prefer to sell it and buy one of lesser quality to use for riding trails.

One thing to note, you got things backwards on what the tighter wound part of the spring does, more coils per given length give a stiffer spring rate so in other words its less sag not more. Now that you cut that the forks will be more linear and less progressive when getting deep into the stroke. Other than that its an ok way to stiffen things up. I just ran the bbr crf150f stiff springs and it just about drops right in but I also did race tech cartridge emululators and makes a world of difference

My thoughts exactly he cut the wrong end off hahah why cut the stiffers part of if that the whole point of the mod .. this guy is clueless

@@blackbird69xxx cos if you followed the vid, he's wanting more to stiffen up the suspension without affecting the travel too much, the tight wound coils will become bound under less travel than the wider wound coils.... wise up dan, you clearly don't know everything bud

Can you describe in more detail the process of using the CRF springs and the valve emulator? Did the CRF springs require cutting to fit? Also, which Race Tech emulator fits the DR200? Thank you

You can't be serious. I put 20W oil in mine (everything else stock) and it got so stiff and slow to react lost almost all damping. And you are putting gearbox oil in there?

Nice minimalist approach! Do you guys run skid plates? I have a Ricochet skid plate on my 2017. I tried to order a DR200 kickstarter kit as we don't have them in Canada. I contacted Suzuki Australia and they said they had no kits available. I though it strange since the Aussy ranch type DR200s have kickstarters.

See if you can find used kickstarter parts from a SP200. Essentially same bike with kickstart.

You cut the bottom stiffer part of the spring off , when thats what u actually needed.. is that because u are upside down in Australia >? thanx from the Uk ;)

Hmmm and how smarts the Uk these days Dan b.... stupid sanctions by your muppet leaders that have backfired so the UK citizens are suffering lol, record inflation, strikes left right and centre.... but hey the UK should go on thinking it's still relevant in the world stage when in reality it's an Island with as much clout as Sth Korea.😉

I'm doing this mod now. Does the 158mm stainless tube go into the bottom of the fork first, then the spring on top of it? Or spring first then tube on top?

  • @bergenraikes6741

    @bergenraikes6741

Spring first then tube on top as this tube replaces the original steel tube

  • @donaldfragale3733

I don't get it... Why not just change oil viscocity to a heavier weight and no cutting? preload will be fine and the bottom part of the spring will help with dampening. That is not a good idea!

Yes indeed he is a real dumbo.. and he cut the stifferr part at the botom of the springs which is what he should have left on and just cut the top off

  • @whakatu4life285

As explained above Dumbo Dan b, the tighter wound end will suffer coil bind twice as fast as the wider wound end over the same length. He's stiffening it up whilst trying to retain travel.... it's not rocket science
