GT6SuzukaTimeTrials In this day and age, $30k for a well-performing car is, relatively speaking, a "small sum". Where else can you pay $30k for 300+ hp in a car?

chunky soup It's still a "small sum" all things considered. When you compare 300hp from BMW, Mercedes or Audi, you start at close to $50k and get upwards close to $70k. So, in the realm of performance, $30k is a great value buy.

Yeah but $30k is still out of reach for at least 50% of the country who are lucky to make that much money in one year before taxes. I would wait for used, with less than 30k miles for around $20k or less.

As an owner of a Genesis Coupe and having driven many 350Zs and a 370 nismo, I can say that this is a very honest review and he was on point with the ending statement. The reason I chose the Genesis over the Nissan was because I needed a versatile car that could easily fill the role of a daily driver. If I was buying a second car however, I would have probably chose the 370 sport.

Blake Swan I'm saying because these are cars targeted for budget consumers looking for sports cars, you're most likely gonna get bored of the vehicle and end up selling it which even if you're a mid class person you'll want the money for a new one and only option then would be selling your car... 350Zs easily sell for 10k even after 10 years, its for a reason.

I loved my 2013 Gen Coupe 3.8 Track. Best and most fun car I've ever owned. I sold it for a Genesis Sedan 5.0 Ultimate which I also love dearly. My father owns the 370z Roadster, also a 2013. We constantly bickered about which was better in jest. Both are fantastic cars especially for the price.

As an owner of a 370z, I can say I truly love it every time I get in the car. Its funny but before I even bought my Z 3 years ago, the Genesis coupe was my second option! I think the Z has classic curves that will endure for many years to come and the Genesis doesn't have that. I know the Genesis' replacement is rumored to have 400hp so I cant wait to see the next gen of each of these cars in the next few years. I love my 370 but the Genesis is no slouch!

Acc0rd79 I felt the same as the Z was my second option as I needed a back seat. I do love the 370 everything I see one on the road but the look of My Gencoupe in Black has really grown on me to the point to where I love the hips on it. Both beautiful cars but I really think some color really help the gencoupe look beautiful. The Z because of its smaller proportions is pretty much art work on wheels but I give the Hyundai credit where it is due as they had a bigger challenge given the larger real estate. Both beautiful great cars in my opinion. Also I would not worry about the upcoming gencoupe as they are saying it going to start in the $40k's and more upmarket (probably auto trans only killing the original dream of affordable rwd fun.

MatthiasAI My girlfriend was late for work a few months back because the keyfob battery to the RAV4 died, rendering the push-button start non existent. It wasn't until after her shift had started that she discovered in the owners manual, when the fob is on low battery it can be held directly up to the "engine start" button to make it work. What an utterly useless piece of technology and complete waste of everyone's time. If consumers weren't so lazy and always demanding new and innovative excuses for them not to use their brains, perhaps we wouldn't have these problems. We became too good to turn keys, but it didn't even stop there. According to BMW, we're now too good to press buttons as well, because the new 7 series reacts to hand gestures and sign language. To conclude, I will quote Australia. " Harden the fuck up"

I had a 2015 3.8 Gen Coupe and a 2017 370z roadster touring. Both manual transmissions. Here are my thoughts 1) if you only can afford one car, go with the Gen Coupe. Its an everyday car. The 370z is a weekend toy 2) the Gen Coupe is plenty fast, about the same as the 370. The 370 (in my opinion) is prettier and handles better. I LOVE the convertable too. Its a fantastic road trip car (if you're not carrying too much luggage 3) Hyundai and Kia are two of the most dependable brands on the market. 10 years ago, i would get laughed at for saying that lol All in all, both are great. If you want a fun weekend car, the 370z (especially the roadster) is the way to go. If you need a full time car, the Gen Coupe is FAR MORE practical

I worked at both Nissan and Hyundai as a technician and I love them both. I prefer the Nissan interior and is take the VQ37vhr on the Nissan over the Lamda engine all day. It’s proved to be more reliable and holds up strong. The gasoline direct injection helps the Genesis add more fuel for more power(not by much compared to the 370z) but not having a wider bore and piston stroke it’ll wear down much faster. The Genesis overall is better with more room, slicker exterior look and it’s pretty reliable also. The 2.0t leaks oil like most turbos and runs more fuel on the engine, which I honestly don’t recommend. If you get a Genesis, get the 3.8. They’re both good cars but everyone has their preference, I’d recommend either one.

I own a 2013 Hyundai Gen Coupe 2.0T, and yes these cars are very underrated. Stop bringing up power numbers and resale value and blah blah blah. Look, for $30K the Gen Coupe is a balanced, well-rounded car. Great power, RWD, GPS navigation, leather and heated seats, back up sensors, Brembo brakes, HID headlights, LED fog lights, pretty good cargo space (3 golf bags with back seats down), warranty you can't beat, and it's unique. Since most of you hating on it keep bringing up buying a Mustang for the same price. Sure, you are able to get a 5.0 Mustang for $30K, but can you get everything in it that's also in the Gen Coupe? A standard 5.0 starts at $32K, but you get nothing in it...You could get a 4 banger with a turbo, but come on, do you really want a Mustang with a 4 cylinder? No, you don't. Lastly, when the new generation of of Gen Coupes is released, two new engines are coming with it (possibly three). An upgrade to to 2.0T, a new twin-turbo V6, and possibly the addition of the Genesis Sedan's V8. Predicting that prices won't go up too much, you'll be getting some damn good power for a great price. I am trying to be as unbiased as possible, but I just love my car so much. 2 years and I haven't had a single problem with it, and gas mileage is great (around 21-22 mpg for a daily driver). It's a fun car to drive and you break necks every time you take it for a spin. Smiles per gallon ladies and gentlemen. One note about something mentioned in the video, the Genesis Coupe CANNOT fit 4 average sized (6 foot) adults in the car comfortably. My friend who is 5'5 barely fits in the back seats and even then their head still rubs on the headliner.

The 370 may be the old man of sports cars, but it is still a lot more fun to drive then just about anything. The Nissan's engine is a lot more refined. I have driven both the Hyundai and the Nissan and the Nissan just feels tighter and has a higher quality feel. The base 370Z is more car then most drivers can honestly handle and upgrades are easy to find and plentiful. In fact, a lot of tuners I know prefer the base model with a manual transmission since they are going to replace the sound system with a better after market one and they will also replace the wheels and upgrade to Brembo brakes. It allows them to personlaize their cars without having to toss a lot of higher priced OEM parts as found on more upscale Z's.

The only thing is the price of the vehicles. 28221 out the door for me and 34000 for the Z. granted the z out preforms a larger car but on the interstate do not both smoke the lanes? For the most excitement on a budget I disagree on the discussion on which car is better. The Genesis for price is beyond better. Do you know who designed that car? Never throw the food out of the house before you taste it, because you don't like the guy who made it. He will make it for someone else. ......That's what happened. Great Video. Mate.

You have to put cost comparison into the mix if you're doing that the genesis coupe is the sure winner being the high end model for 3,000 less than the gt for a 370... And I'm sure a nismo spec is 5-10k more economically the genesis would be priced out of that comparison and would have to step up to a mustang gt camaro etc.. for a proper performance comparison

depends allot on how you drive the gen, most don't know how to drive dog box cars... Hyundai stupidly put a clutch switch that delays power till the clutch is fully engaged, so it tends to think before it puts more power down. Mitigating clutch time or modifying the switch helps out allot for times. People install clutch travel stops and or modify the switch. I just drive it like I do my supra with a dog box (more kindly though). But I got it for the warranty and my daily, so I don't care.

Having said that, if absolute driving dynamics is what you're looking for in a V-6 package and don't mind spending between 3 and 10k more....then the Z is for you. Though....if you're willing or able to spend $10k more....there are much, much better options available to you than just the Z. Either way, you can't go wrong when it comes to a drive that makes you wish you never had to leave the track.

I had the 2013 Genesis Coupe wich is the exact same thing as the 2015, and I had a 2012 370z. It's like when you compare a supercar to a normal car. Of course the supercar will win, they are made for that, but that doesn't mean that the "basic" car is a bad car, they are not in the same category. It's the same for the 370z, yeah they are not supercars at all but we can all agree it's a tick above the Genesis Coupe. Nissan is a very good car company, like the Gtr, the 350 and 370, they have made historic cars. Hyundai, their first sport car (tiburon is not a very sport car) so of course it will not be the new Ferrari 458. But you still can't deny that the Genesis is a very convenient car and a beautiful machine in the entry in the sportcars factory. Every cars have a faster one, don't mean they are bad cars. And sorry for my english not my first language ahaha

Andrew L That's what everyone says about Hyundai. The only Hyundai I would want is the new Genesis Sedan but truthfully as nice as it is, it's still overpriced considering it's a Hyundai and will depreciate $10k after 1 year... as for the Nissan, like everyone says, it is extremely dated, probably on the verge of a completely new design so there's no sense in buying one now unless you can get a massive discount on a new one. As for Ford, the s550 is a new global platform in it's second model year. It has been extremely well received and it's one of the best looking cars on the road within $40k +- of it's price point.. really it's a no brainer for me.. so Yes Ford.

What the hell? 1st, that Genesis Coupe is NOT the highest trim, and that 370z is not a base model. I'm surprised that there are people like you who hates something so much that they want another company to sue them. I'm not a Hyundai lover, not at all. But what you're doing is seriously wrong. Every car company takes care to make their products, not just come European or Japanese companies. Also, Hyundai has already caught up to the level of Japanese motor companies and running away from them. Your bias makes you look like a 5 year old.

I think both of these cars are awesome. And with a non biased opinion I do own a Genesis 3.8 GT and its by far one of the best cars ive been in. Everything about it is nice. And obviously like any car dont be an idiot driving it and youll be fine when it comes to maintenance. I wont lie the 370z looks great and if i could buy one for the hell of it i would but for the price i got my 3.8 coupe at i couldnt be mad. I Have friends who have 370 z nismos and its a close race every time but i still do come out short majority of the time. So in the end its based of opinion. Both great cars with great features ones just a tad bit more money. But either way these two cars are not to be reckoned with, especially with mods.
