    With removing the speed limiter, you also have to upgrade the driveshaft. The V6 has a weak shaft from the factory that breaks at 120 mph, hence the limiter. With a solid set of gears, a driveshaft, and a nice tune, these cars can seriously move.

    At the end of the day, the Genesis beat the Mustang. The *HYUNDAI* (former laughing stock of the car community) beat the *FORD*. You got to give Hyundai some props...

    But they didnt. The genesis rivaled the gt in cost. Thats the problem. Still a pat on the back to hyundai for the genesis, minus the sloppy shifter as a reminder that its still a hyundai. It should have been an easy fix before the first production run but im not sure they ever addressed it. They are def not up to par with ford where fit and finish is concerned but they also dont have a long history of performance cars. Now in the used market the price difference might evaporate, idk. Def easier to search for mustangs though, obviously.

    @@TheFreshPeddler It kind of seems like Genesis have gone up in value simply because they don't make them anymore, the car has developed a cult following. Thanks almost in part with FRS and BRZs that have had more accidents, the Genesis tends to hold more value than its competitors during that time. Where as Mustangs just tend to sell for a lot regardless, they're Ford after all.

    I used to think the Genesis Coupe was a POS. Then I took a drive in one. Holy shit, that perception was blasted away. The car is fast, feels fast, and is fun too drive! If you look at the Ultimate, which is priced about $33k, it has some amazing features with it. I'm surprised you could get Nav, a 10 speaker HD audio system, full leather seats, and a great warranty for the price (some dealers offer free tires and oil for the car's life). It's the best value on the market today for a sports car. While I think the BRZ is great, it just lacks the value for the money. The Genesis is the most bang for your buck and I was surprised at the speed and luxury you get with it. Comparing the Mustang to this doesn't make much sense to me. While the Mustang will be the faster of the two (if we compare the 5.0L w/ performance since they're the same price), The Genesis is a performance blend like the Audi S5. You're paying for performance, practicality, and luxury all together. The Mustang has more speed and some of the same features, but it's nowhere near as practical or special as the Genesis. The 2015 Mustang Interior just felt old to me. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with either car. It's just more about what fits your personality.

    I couldn't agree more. A lot of people like to overlook all of that for some reason. I had ZERO intentions on buying a Genesis before I test drove one. Took it home that same night! It's amazing what Hyundai was able to do with this car at such an affordable price.

    almost coughed up cash to get a 350z but walked away as I'm over 6ft2 & heard it'll be too cramped for me. I'm currently looking at the 2005 G35 Infiniti Coupe, 2005 BMW E46 330i ZHP, 2005 Audi A4 1.8T & the 2004 BMW E39 540i. Still looking for a good daily driver car below $11,000 though.

    Why I picked a genesis 3.8 over a mustang v6. More power Build quality seemed superior Looks Steering Better alloys and tires Infinity sound Better warranty Cheaper financing. There are already 2 Stangs on my street. The sound of the stock exhaust system is intoxicating. Bare in mind my father was a Ford dealer.. Class A tech.

    Both cars are awesome , I give respect to Hyundai for stepping the game... but if you want a true american muscle car you gotta get the V8 IMO... not bad for genesis hopefully they put a V8 in the future

    I test drove both cars. Actually I test drove the base model for the Genesis. The power was crazy!!! I press the pedal about half way and my head literally slammed the seat. Even the base model was freaking crazy. I also like the new exterior design. The interior was extremely luxurious, it felt as if I was in a g37 or a lexus. Impressive car overall!

    i love track cars ...respect all ....ive always like the track gen....i drive a 13 boss 302 coming from a 03 cobra ...being on track with evos , sti, z06, m3 and gens etc..etc...everyone has something to bring to the table..its a great experience.

    Jayjay Kapone My previous track car was a 03 cobra as well, only downside was overheating after a few laps. have a 20116 Genesis now. one I get to know it well will take it to the track as well. Up to know the car has not disappointed me, really love it.

    I love the styling on this mustang, but it’s true that Ford skimped our going old school in handling and suspension technology. All the money is in the motor. Overall, if I had a family and fun curvy roads in the neighborhood, Genesis Coupe. However just for the pure style and straight line performance this Mustang is gold.

    Hyundai has already discontinued the 2.0T. The 2.0T base was priced at 25k so now the V6 models are going to adopt that 2.0 price. While the up and coming V8 model will start around 30k. So now pricing will pretty much be identical to the stangs. Honestly the genesis looks way fucking better.

    TVinmyEye I know looks are subjective but I think the Genesis coupe looks like crap. Its way too noisy in the front and back. By noisy I mean it has too many weird curves and lines on the front fascia and the back end tail light area.

    charles banxton As far as appearance, I think the Mustang looks way better. Imo the Genesis is pretty damn ugly in general compared to most sports cars out there (370z, BRZ, Mustang, Camaro). But in general the Genesis is a better sports car than the Mustang. The Mustang just looks better (the V8 Mustang is a different story though).

    Subaru lies about its 0 to 60 times. They claim sub 5 seconds and 13.3 1/4. I have seen several hundred stock runs at the Strip at lvms and have yet to see a sub 14 second run. That's why the company is almost out of the American market.

    The reason you saw bad runs was because they were bad drivers. Anybody can take there car to the track, I've seen fast cars get bad times. Subaru testers know what there doing. Just because people at the track can't get those times doesn't mean the car can't.

    If I'm not mistaken, I believe the limiter is because of the aluminum drive shaft. I've heard that it can "warp" and "blow up" at speeds over 125mph. Just something to think about.

    I've got a '13 Genesis 3.8 track. I can't compare to the other rigs listed but it still surprises me after over a year. Rear wheel drive just offers something pure. And you could probably get into a used 2013 for around 18. They're a blast

    it says in the description their both naturally aspirated engines. the 2.0 genesis has a turbo though. not the 3.8

    Real-world pricing is even worse too. You can pick up a 2014 Mustang for $16k where the 3.8 would run you $25k+. 16k for a 300+ hp car is impressive! Then again, 25k for the 420hp 5.0 is more impressive!

    Well they are both very good cars.. But here is no point to think like that brother. Hyundai at some point will move their V8 (that already use on their higher-end models) to these models probably and it will be very close or even equal to the naturally aspirated V8 variant of the new Mustang.. Now if u say about supercharger/turbo types we move on topics as well... But now as thing stands I dont see a problem with either car.. As a true enthusiast and car lover I would say whatever sports car u pick right now it will give u lots of smiles whatever brand.. People like to bitch about everything like little boys about their little toys. But for me naaah I really enjoy them all.... Lovely cars bro moving on and take care~

    Well the Mustang Perf Package has 3.31 gears too which they didn't mention. It's not exactly base model, but still the test was not really fair. They should have flashed the Mustang to remove the speed limiter and improve throttle response. The input lag is awful. My first mods will be tuner (91 or 93 octane tune), adjustable panhard, and lowering springs to remove body roll.

    +Copenbro If you remove the speed cap you need to drop a one piece drive shaft into it. That's why it's capped -- stupid two piece drive shaft from Ford.

    You forget to mention that mustang will spend most of its life in the shop for repairs of one thing or another, they don't call the car fix or repair daly for no reason

    The Track and R-Spec models feature track-tuned spring, damper and stabilizer bar settings. Available camber adjustment bolts let drivers make additional suspension tuning changes. There's a rear Torsen limited-slip differential that guarantees better control and acceleration out of tight corners. Sticky, staggered fitment performance tires on 19-inch Euroflange dark graphite-finish alloy wheels. And higher performance Brembo brakes. Entry model Genesis is not the same as a Track model.

    For everyone complaining about the Hyundai being more expensive, keep in mind they are comparing both cars because they are both V6s. The V6 Mustang is a base model Mustang, the V6 in the Hyundai is the premium model. If you want to compare prices, both base models are priced very close to each other. A V8 Mustang where I live is about $12000 more than the highest priced Genesis Coupe. If you're focusing on price, you need to compare apples to apples.

    Just priced out a base model 5.0 on Ford's USA website. With absolutely zero options it priced out at $32000. Other countries like Canada they start at $41000. If you want to equip the Mustang with similar options that the Genesis has standard, $32000 becomes $40400.

    This test is redundant, the price difference between the V6 Genesis is closer to the V8 Mustang than it is to the V6 Mustang. The Genesis is a nice car i don't doubt it, but anyone in the market for either of these cars won't be using this video to decide it.

    If the limiter was removed on the Mustang it would probably match the time of the Genesis. A tuner costs $300 and it adds like 20hp so you would save like 10 grand and have the better looking car. The Genesis looks ok all black but I couldn't justify paying 30 grand for a Hyundai.. or any amount for any Hyundai,

    Don't just say that, show some evidence to back it up. They take the suspension of the Raptor and the Boss302 pretty seriously, really any Ford? If you show me some evidence I'll be right there with you saying "yep Hyundais are built better" Just like I would have to say BMW are built better, because I have seen videos of BMW's beyond state-of-the-art factory, and that's the truth and there's no getting around it..     Why do people keep comparing v8 to v6? Compare the gt with a corvette or something...they aren't even meant to be compared with the v6 versions...coulda had a v8...coulda had a 5.8...over the 5.0...just saying.

    I see they ignored the fact the Mustang is significantly cheaper yet just a tick behind in performance. A simple tune would make them even and all for thousands less. Sensing biast here.

    You'll most likely get a deeper discount on the Hyundai since it's not as popular. Hyundai only sells one Genesis to 10 Mustangs.

    19DaRiO95 That was ignorant to say. Whereas I am not a big fan of the Mustang this V6 is still capable of running 13.7 in the quarter mile which is pretty quick for 22 grand. In the states the V8 is completely out of range in price to most americans so it makes even more sense to own it. Wouldnt be my choice but stupid to underestimate it.

    turbosrt9642 well here in switzerland you get a mustang for about 34'900 bucks new, about the same price as a new genesis coupe 3.8. so of course i would take the genesis. the genny has the better suspension and more horsepower for the same price so why would i take the mustang? i like the V8 tho, but if i had that much money i would probably buy a supra.

    at the track of willow speings the mustang v6 with track pack did 129.09 the genesis r spec 129.12 ,genesis r spec v6 did a 128.71, motortrend

    I might be wrong but I believe the v6 model and the GT share the same DS... Which is rated to 155 MPH (+/- 5MPH). My speed limiter is set at 145 to avoid the danger zone (key music).

    I bought a Mustang V6 after doing laps in a Ferrari 458 behind one. Absolutely no way I could pass him. I could get to his bumper, but that was it. Yeah, he was a professional driver (and I'm good but not THAT good), but if y'all think you can drive the V6 Mustang to it's limit, then you should be getting paid to drive for a team with sponsors... Those laps also made me realize that I don't need 500hp to go fast - my little V6 Mustang - with a good driver, will beat a 500hp with a novice driver any day. And get 30mpg. And cost less to put on the track. And less insurance. And....

    You do know the genesis has a speed limiter of 150 , it can go up to 180 without problems. Mustang is shit quality that's why they have the governor on of 130...

    Charles C. like I said before, you are comparing Hyundai's top end coupe to Ford's entry level daily driver meant coupe, a rental car. I call bullshit on the Genesis going anywhere above 155. No way that is even physically possible. Now you want to compare cars within the same price range, compare it against the GT, and it would beat the Genesis even in the gas mileage department. The Genesis is beat here, this review, if anything, just makes Fords new 2011+ Mustang V6 shine.

    30k puts that genesis coupe in GT territory... I think a coyote would eat this thing alive. Don't get me wrong I respect hyundai for what they are doing, but the mustang is nearly 10k cheaper than that genesis coupe as far as price is concerned these cars aren't very compatible.

    I thought that at first but purchased my 2103 (I almost did not get it for this reason). After a couple months of seeing several earlier models around town, I'd have to say mine is much nicer. The front end at first looks chunky, but it screams performance and makes the older models look so vanilla in comparison.

    Ive driven both, and the power band on that V6 mustang is odd when in the Genesis it just feelings always there, and even feels faster then it is, and the dash board isnt high up and kinda in your face like the mustang.

    The reason people keep saying that the mustang is limited to 120 mph is because of the final drive gear ratio or the 3.31:1 i believe. Meaning that it is faster off the line. The bad thing about that is that you cannot have both off the line acceleration and good top speed. The Performance Pack Mustangs come with that Limited Slip Diff with 3:31 gears that make it a great accelerating car after a turn giving it that sport car feel, but are compromising top speed to 115-120 mph.

    What a joke , Genesis has 50 more horse , weighs 150lbs less and has no top speed limit!!! Genesis runs 135 at times on track while Mustang is limited to 120 and YOU CALL THAT FAIR???? lolol Mustang anyday over that Hyundai.

    +Joe Burke The 3.8 Ultimate add nothing performance wise to the R-Spec, so you can get an R-Spec for $29K and actually gain a bit of performance because it weights 80lb less than the Ultimate.

    Also the 5.0 in the gt is a jaguar motor thus it uses terms like OHC and variable valve and the camaro chassis is from Australia so all we're really saying is we suck and know it

    yes you're right about the mustang gt and all it's accessories, but genesis is'nt supposed to compeat with gt is it now. anyway's you can get all of that in a mustang v6 for under 27 grand right around where the base v6 genesis starts and for the r spec you cant even have navigation,but if going for the r spec would you really need it

    The 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is definitely the more luxurious choice when it comes to the interior and advanced technologies. I've driven both and I pick the 2013 Genesis Coupe even though I am a patriotic American. I have owned 3 Fords in the past. I am a patriotic American. I really like the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe and will be buying one next week. Hyundai Motors has come a long way. They have surpassed Japanese cars in many ways like safety technologies and interior design.

    If you can go to the article on the autoguide wed site and read it they point out all lot of things they should of in the vid above like how the genesis oversteers, and if you want to get critical about thing's why isn't the genesis in any form of racing; For instant the contintal sport car challenge on fox 1 which is a race that requires all cars except the gt class to be production cars,and the genesis would be in with the gs class mustang,370 z,camaro,m3 ect.

    I have great respect for both vehicles, especially the Hyundai for coming so far and managing a good balance of comfort with some thrill. Although i prefer the styling of the Mustang, the 120 speed limiter does discomfort me.

    If you won't be mature and have a reasonable converstion i will not comment back, but if your intrested please go look up the event which will start again in early 2014. The cars are also all running the same tire by the way and all gs (large six cylinder or v8 powered coupes) st(compact cars) all receive slotted and vented rotors stock pads and stronger caliber because oem will bend ,brake cooling upgrades ajustable shock's everything eles is stock and of course a roll cage.

    Not a fair comparison the msrp of a 2013 mustang gt is closer to that of a genesis 3.8 and has 420 horsepower. A more fair comparison is with the genesis 2t vs the mustang v6. Honestly your video just seems like an add for hyundai who really need to step up there game in quality and reliability.

    Thanks, but that's not my Mustang in this video, It's just the nice V6 of you tube mate. Me I drive a 2012 Boss 302, it's on my chanel if you want to take a look and hear it roar, but unfortunatly no track video. I tried it last summer and post a good 12:28 pass bone stock with only drag tire. Of course the standard 3:73 torsen gear, adjustable damper and 444hp 7500 rpm screaming V8 engine of the Boss 302 helped me a lot!

    The genesis R spec is, however, a substantial amount more than a v6 mustang with the performance pack. Like 4 or 5 grand more.

    Some of you guys do not understand. The reason why the Hyundai Genesis Track is $33,000 is because it leaning towards the luxury sports car niche. Look I get, I know the Mustang is cheaper but its cheaper because it doesn't have all the nice bells and whistles the Genesis has. They even put the performance package on the Mustang that would make it into costing a little over $26,000. Just because the cabin of the mustang is "economy" doesn't mean it's any different than the premium Mustang.
