2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport - Redline: Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After a full redesign, Land Rover takes its best-selling model and adds a healthy shot of handling dynamics with a hefty weight loss, a stiff aluminum structure, and a potent SuperCharged V8 from Jaguar. Those of you who can afford the price of admission will find a well-rounded luxury cruiser that can keep pace with some sports cars at the track.

I'm on my second Rover Sport. I recently had a 2010 thar I bought with 99,000 miles on it. It never broke down or had a maintenance issue. Last week I traded it for a 2014 Rover Sport with 109,000 miles. I have no worries. These are great SUV's. (On my third now. Still, never an issue 👍).

Sofyan you're so fast and informative and i love these reviews. I will watch a few on a car on other channels.. then come here for the final word (if you've reviewed it) and that'll be that. And i can say that i helped a friend buy his car from telling him about you doing good honest reviews and he looked you up and got his car bc of how thorough you were. Keep up the good work. i look forward to these updates. Plus it's always good to know what is new on the market and what people think about them.

Wow! That was a very detailed review for a car. Thanks Redline. I was actually about to get the new Porsche Cayenne S but the problem was my husband is kinda sceptic about getting the Cayenne since the new Range Rover Sport is very competitive in the market. He was trying to change my mind and encourages me to get the new 2015 Range Rover Sport, since I've watched the full detail of your review, I think I'm going to go for a Range Rover Sport instead of the Porsche Cayenne S. Thanks to you.

Great review Sofyan. Being in the repair business I can say that Land Rover has a long way to go to live down the perception of unreliability. I think what they are building now is much improved over just a couple of years ago. People who equate this vehicle with the older ones are uninformed. One thing I've learned after 35 years in this business is no brand is 100% reliable after the warranty runs out. Even Honda products.:)

Excellent review. This is a big time sleeper since Range Rovers are known to be heavy trucks and not particularly quick except the SC 5.0L versions. It'll rip a lot of potent sports cars and sport sedans into shreds in a drag race especially considering it's got awd and an instant engine response from the SC. I'm willing to bet that RWD Ms, AMGs and Hellcats won't stand a chance from stoplight to stoplight in real life unless they have drag slicks and hell of a driver.

Who else likes the last gen Range Rover Sport better? I just appeal more to the boxy look, it makes it seem more... Well... like a Land Rover. Plus, this looks to pretty and sleek to take off road. Don't get me wrong, this design is beautiful and breathtaking in every way, i just prefer the predecessor. But that's just me, i'm sure most people, typically females, prefer this look more. It's more preppy, more flashy, and more road going. Though i know it has all of, if not more, capability than the last, i don't see many people leaving the pavement with this one.

  • @bokkey45

jmen8888 FWD cars are excellent in the snow. That statement makes no sense. AWD (especially Acura's SHAWD) is primarily designed for cornering and reducing torque steer in DRY conditions. In snow, however, having AWD makes very little difference in handling. Sure it's better than having RWD but it's basically on the same level as FWD. The way your car handles in the snow has more to do with the tires you have and the weight of the car. If an AWD car is rolling on summer tires in the snow, it will do awful. If a FWD car is rolling on snow tires in the snow, it will perform okay. But you're basically driving on slippery, icy ball bearings, a car that can handle snowy/icy roads the same way it would as if the roads were dry is NONEXISTENT. You will never be able to speed and drive erratically in snowy/icy conditions regardless of drivetrain layout.

  • @TheGobinG

    @TheGobinG

    9 жыл бұрын

bokkey45 Acura's SHAWD is actually very good and improves traction in the snow remarkably! It has torque vectoring from left to right, so it can send power to the wheel with most traction! I believe AWD can make a big difference in snow, but of course tires matter as well (braking and preventing understeer)

jmen8888 if price and affordability is such an issue why are you looking at brand new $40,000 infiniti's and acuras? There are PLENTY of affordable cars under 30K that have AWD. I mean damn you could even look into buying a used late '00's Acura MDX or Infiniti G37X and save THOUSANDS of dollars, and STILL get luxury and AWD. Besides, why can't you can just take out a lease a TLX or a Q50? Buying a brand new car off the lot is a stupid idea. The second you drive away in it you potentially lose over $1,000 bucks from your investment. You claim money is an issue, then why are you investing upwards of 30K into a depreciating asset? in your financial state it doesn't make any sense why you would go out and buy a brand new 40K luxury car. There are plenty of other more affordable options out there. The only people who should be spending $40K on a car are people who are in excellent financial condition and don't need to worry about spending $40K, $60K, or even $100K. You, on the other hand, seem to be wasting a massive chunk of change on something that you can barely afford. On top of that, it's a depreciating asset. $35K out of that $40K will be GONE in five years time.

Land Rover finished second to last in JD Power's 2015 Vehicle Dependability Survey and to maintain this car you have to be pretty rich. Google "Doug DeMuro Land Rover" and you'll see the amount of times the POS breaks down.

***** Well they barely did better and they are the same company. No doubt Land Rover's are premium and fun for off-roading, but hard to say I'd like to own one.

The England factory is running 24 hours a day but the waiting list is still several months long. The most unreliable cars imaginable but still a huge demand. Brand perception does wonders.

Sure, but brand perception doesn't work for long if it isn't backed up by brand reliability. The UK factory isn't churning out cars to people who have been shrewd enough to be able to amass enough money to afford them, but not shrewd enough to use their money on something they think is going to spend all its time in the shop!

I had 2006 vogue, then 2011 sport. Vogues rear suspension had issues and 2011 drive shaft and alternator issue bugged me. But apart from that its best car I've ever owned. The dealership look after you, however if you're looking at other alternatives the Mercedes G wagon is also very bullet proof as well as the Lexus RX, which is extremely reliable and well made. I'm going to upgrade soon... So i may be looking at the RX

  • @vlad1889

Go with RX, there is 1 out of 10 chances you will have problems. Mercedes G is a beast of a truck but you will pay for the image dearly. The parts are insanely expensive on that vehicle. Acura MDX is bulletproof, 4runner=any toyota suv. Infiniti fx but they will have some strange squeaks here and there and eat gasoline like no tomorrow but are also fairly reliable.

I have the Sport (2014) and have had the LR4 (Discovery 4) and my wife has an LR 2 (Freelander). We've not had the slightest problem with any of them. Unreliability problems seem largely to have been eradicated since Tata got hold of them. Of course there will always be the occasional dog....

The reliability is awful in these vehicles, they maybe better then 4 years ago but for the price you would be better off getting navigator. I mean I understand you want to make a statement with a car like this but for the price and history of being in the shop, i couldn't justify the purchase. I would go with lexus or acrua.

That plays into coast of ownership... something else they hardly go into. I realize cars have become more and more disposable but some of us expect more than what a warranty period provides.

***** My mom had a BMW, and as much as I loved the car, it was VERY expensive to keep up. Not surprisingly the dealer had to be the go to place for most issues and each time she had it there was $1000-2000. If you're just gonna lease it I'm sure that's fine, but better have buckets of mula if your gonna attempt to own one long term. and in response to the ecoboost? All this turbo charging scares me when it comes to reliability. I think this is the reason Honda and Toyota have stayed away from it. Almost everyone I know with a ten year old turbo car has engine issues...

Besides diesel most of the cars with turbos are aftermarket so the cars (motor, transmission etc) can't handle the extra power for a long time not only that but technology is better every day so like my friend said the only way to know I by waiting till the car is 6 years old or more
