We'll probably replace my wife's Freelander (LR2) with one of these but not until the new diesel is available. It will be the first from LR's new engine plant and promises to be a lot better than the current Ford-derived 2.2. Like the design, like the interior practicality and the off-road flexibility. Should be easy to own now that LR seem to have solved their reliability problems because the Freelander certainly has been. Great review. Just love your use of descriptive language.

Hello sir I just got one question first of all I love the new look of the discovery but how good are the engines in the electronics have these vehicles had any recalls or problems thank you

Looking at the gray plastic cover on the base of the hood, I'm guessing it's just a plastic cover replacing the pedestrian airbag module offered in Europe. I'm guessing it's just cheaper to have a single stamping for the hood for all markets.

my 2012 freelander 2 hits 0-100 at 6.7 seconds. it is 2.0 Petrol Engine with 240 HP. not bad at all.

I think the Discovery Sport is more versatile than the Range Rover Evoque. Especially, if one has cargo to carry. The Evoque's rear cargo space is just as small as some of the cute utes (like the Jeep Renegade that's reviewed last reviewed before the Discovery Sport).

pedrof830 Only ppl who say that are the ones who Don't know about how much they've changed in NEWER models.. try the past 3 years and up.. not 1999 or 2001... A Lot has changed. and it's a very reliable brand.

The more stylish Evoque is not a hit with 'Muricans, and neither will this be. That interior reeks of cost-cutting, and the price is premium. Rovers have a poor rep for quality and depreciation. And the poor drivetrain tuning will kill it on test drives

The Evoque sells decently, but I agree with you with one thing, Land Rover has to get their reliability ratings up in order to maintain consistent ownership. Thus, many people will dismiss Land Rover/Range Rover as fancy Jeeps.

If you consider 1000 units a month decent. The Lincoln MKC sells twice as many. The new Lexus NX sells 4X as many. BD

They already have. Check out Driver Power survey of 30,000 owners and 150 cars. LR up from 25/30 to 20/30 and for the first time have three models in the top 30. Some way to go but in the right direction.

Better to sit in and use than it looks with soft touch materials where you want them. But this is the adaptable LR and is designed more practically than the RR brands (Evoque for example).

This Land Rover is based on an old Ford platform with old Ford engines and Ford can-bus electronics. So it ain't going to be very reliable.
