    Had same problem today, took it apart per your instructions on a 2015 yukon. Took the 6 way switch out and apart and hit it with contact electrical cleaner and it fixed it. You can work it back and forth when you take it apart.

    My power tilt on driver seat of my GMC Terrain wasn't working. The fix is to test the switches on the side of the seat. That can be accomplished by prying off the side cover and checking continuity on the switch bar. That bar of switches is very cheap, under $20.00 so it might be the first to replace. The power tilt is in the back of the seat. You have to remove the hard plastic cover on the back of the seat. That will give you access to the motor for the power tilt. If you can find or rig up a 12Volt battery you can connect it to the positive and negative leads on the motor. This way you can test the motor independently of any wiring or switches. In fact you can use this technique to check all the motors (forward/backward/tilt). It turned out in my case it was the switch. The motor tested fine. Search driver side GMC Terrain switch and you can find it for cheap on the web. Hopefully this info helps someone else.

    Thanks a lot for this video! The seat in my 2014 stopped going down. So when I took it to a mechanic they had a short guy move my truck and he moved the seat all the way up. So me being 6 foot tall, I don’t feel comfortable driving my own truck! Lol thanks hopefully it is the switch and not the motor

    There is apparently some differences in the 2014 MY GM trucks. In my bay today I had a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 all terrain. Complaint was the drivers seat & power mirrors not working. Under the drivers seat there was is a seat module not an analog switch circuit as in the video. On this truck the drivers seat module is connected to the drivers side mirror switch & passenger side window switch with some sort of secondary data buss. Neither the mirror switch logic, right window switch or drivers seat module were able to be accessed with a launch X431V or Autel MS906BT scan tool with the rest of the modules so I call it secondary data. Anyhow, I'd seen some connectors fail on some other GM seat modules so I thought I'd disconnect the module and inspect the connectors, they all looked good so I plugged to all back in and it all started working. I don't know if this just reset a locked up module or connecting and disconnecting the connectors fixed some poor connections. Either way I couldn't get it to stop working. I post this to help others.

    That's interesting possibly a higher trim level than this one. Could be a LIN bussed module which is becoming quite common. I'll watch out for that. Thanks for the tip.

    Do you have a video on how to do the polarity? I just see the wires you inserted not sure how that works. I want to get my seat up til I order the part thanks!

  • @PhillipBailey

    @PhillipBailey

    Ай бұрын

    Not really. You need to apply power to one motor wire and ground the other. This will run the motor up or down. Switch the polarity to make it go the opposite direction.

    If you hear the motor running but the seat does not move then the motor mechanism must be at fault. Remember there is more than one motor.

    Power to one wire and ground the other. If it moves the wrong direction switch the two wires, ground to the one that was originally power and power to the one you originally grounded.

    @@PhillipBailey I unplugged each individual wire going to each individual motor and then plugged them all back in and it still didn’t work, I could hold that motor in my hand and when I worked the button you could feel the motor kicking so it felt like the seat was just jammed or stuck and the motor couldn’t move it, ran the seat up and down and all around with no luck, tapped on the side of the motor and the arm that’s connected to it with a ball peen hammer and boom it worked, I think that it’s never used and the last person who sat there ran it all the way up so it seized up or stuck there, once it broke loose works great now, lucked out, Thanks for the response though man

    what if the motor is extremely hot, does that mean that the motor failed and i should replace it ?

  • @PhillipBailey

    @PhillipBailey

    Жыл бұрын

    Could be that the switch is stuck activating the motor all the time and it's at tge end of the limit of travel. There is a circuit breaker in it to open in this case. Does the seat move in all positions? Try unplugging the hot motor and see if there is continuous power and ground to it on the connector. If so it's likely a failed or stuck switch. This would likely kill your battery too.

    Likely a failed motor. Is it completely dead or just one function that's dead?
