My wife has a 2014 Beetle TDI with 42K miles on it that I've been thinking about doing this mod to. She also has the RCD-510, but no Fender. This would not only give Apple CarPlay, but it would be the easiest way to get a backup camera, as her current unit can't take one. Looks good!

I just wanna state that the fender audio system is absolutely amazing and I don’t have it but I can tell you that the standard audio speaker system that comes with most volts wagon‘s is still pretty damn good and I love my RCD330 upgrade in my 2013 Volkswagen Beetle

I have a 2013 Beetle with the RCD330. Mine is the 17F which is known as the perfect RCD330 variant but the other good one is the 17B which is from my research the second best variant. The 17B is also the most common variant and has DAB a.k.a digital radio reception which is just a higher quality of radio sound than what you get without DAB radio. Mine is the 17F variant does not have DAB Digital radio reception but with CarPlay and the Radio Tuner app I can get DAB digital radio through CarPlay so it doesn’t really matter to me if the radio itself has DAB but the radio app I use on CarPlay does. It’s also important to know that it doesn’t matter if the radio has built in GPS Navigation because CarPlay Google maps or Apple Maps is going to be much better than any built in radio navigation.

You don’t need Dalton navigation if you have CarPlay. So many people seem to ignore that fact and yes it is a fact because the GPS on your iPhone or android is going to be much better than whatever comes with the car or head unit and believe me I know this from experience

The reason we do not run signal wires along the transmission tunnel is some time we get noise from the transmission

They did send me just the USB jack however the existing hole that was used for the Aux jack is bigger so I was able to remove the USB connector from the housing it was in and I 3D printed a new one and it fits perfectly. Ill do a quick update video soon.

Hi, I think I need some help, I have a beetle tsi 2012 with a RCD 510 premium audio but no fender, and I have a fender system here, I've been trying to put everything together in my head before installing, there are things that gets me confused, I've ordered a wiring system to install from AliExpress, but when I look at the cables, it doesn't make any sense not only when I look at the speakers but also when I look at the wiring diagram, so if you could give me an advise, it would be very nice. :)

I am sorry but I don't think I can help as I did this a while ago and don't remember the wiring. One think I will say is that if you are adding a Fender system to the car you will be adding the Fender Amp that mounts under the driver seat so you will have some wires that go from the head unit in the dash to the amp and then back to the dash. Maybe those are the extra wires that don't make sense so you'll need to lay it all out and make sure that the head unit is coded for the amp. Good luck!

No Name is the one to get even if you don't have Fender. Based on the reviews from other the other brands has solder issues that made the units flaky in cold weather

The amplifier for the Fender system is separate from the head unit and it needs to be turned on by the head unit when you power that on. It also has to be turned off automatically else you will drain your battery. Find a diagram if the old/original head unit connector and look at each pin. One of them should be labeled “amp” or maybe “Switched VCC”. Power must be applied to that pin when the head unit is turned on and the Fender amp will turn on. Good luck.
