The gentleman on the piano, who's name I don't want to butcher, in my opinion, is in a world class category, based on many of these clips. I don't know what his compositional chops are but technically he is among the best. And I base that on having seen Bill Evans do this song live.

Brubeck never swung that hard (imo)...Terraza is a beast! This should be a video on how to play a jazz solo. Ignasi began his solo using Andrea's final notes to brilliantly weave a seamless hand off, then just goes off. Wonderful how he builds the tension to create such swinging feel...

Can't understand why this marvellous swinging version of Someday My Prince Will Come hasn't attracted a lot more viewers like most of the other standards on this fabulous album. The beat and rhythm are compelling and the solos by Scott, Ignasi and Andrea are outstanding, Andrea's trumpet solo is so subtle and delicate and her vocal solo swings. This version is on a par with the famous version by the Miles Davis Quintet of the early 1960s. What incites people to view a song? In pop and other domains of music, marketing and publicity play a big part, but hardly so in jazz. Is it the Reputation, fame of the artist(s), the Song itself, other factors......???

Jazz is very much a minority interest. It was thought to be in danger of disappearing altogether but thanks to musicians like these in Barcelona but also in groups around Europe, America and even Australia and New Zealand there continues to be a small but appreciative market. You tube hits seem to be bit of a lottery.

This is a romantic melody superbly interpreted by the J. C. Quartet, by Scot and by Andrea specially her trumpet solo. I adore all the songs on this terrific album "Live at Jamboree" where Andrea (not yet 18 at the time of recording) demonstrates emphatically that she is a genuine jazz musician who can handle all forms of jazz with ease: ballads, blues, bosa nova, swing.......Joan Chamorro wrote on the cover of this album that this was one of the best things that he had ever done and I totally agree with him. My favorite album.

@@nuotna Sure Alba is coming through pretty strong and so are many others in the SAJB and they are going to become /already are very fine musicians, thanks to Joan Chamorro's visionary teaching methods and their own desire and motivation. Let's hope they stay on in jazz for our greater pleasure. But for me Andrea has always had something special, evident from her first videos when she was a cute 12 year old. I think she is by nature always relaxed, has great confidence, is courageous & willing to take risks in her music that many musicians shy away from and it's obvious that she loves playing jazz, whether it's as the lead singer or soloist or in the chorus supporting her fellow musicians or just another member of the SAJB. Besides being an excellent multi-instrumentalist (trumpet, alto & suprano sax, flugel horn and who knows what else....) her singing ability is outstanding. Jazz & swing is in her DNA, her phrasing is immaculate (the Frank Sinatra of jazz), her synchronization and timing in relation to the music is perfect and she can sing ahead of or behind the music and it is always spot on. Someone on KZread rightly described her as the "Princess of Syncopation." See her on songs with difficult lyrics like, Jitterbug Waltz; Moody's Mood for Love; I didn't Know What Time It Was. As a teenager the crowds started to come to see her perform, which is why Joan pushed her into the limelight as lead singer, soloist and communicater with the audience, a responsibility she carried out brilliantly for someone so young. By just being herself Andrea's contact with the audience is authentic and natural , there is no marketing.

I only commented that I enjoyed a specific album of a specific jazz musician without comparing her to or making negative comments about other jazz musicians and I am not aware of any algorithm which can in any meaningful way rank the "goodness" of jazz musicians. It's not like solving a numerical problem to 15 decimal places. I also like the music of Alba Armengou

The Live at Jamboree-recording is really outstanding ! I wish Andrea and all these excellent musicians could give a second live album in 2020 or 2021, with 60% American and "European" Jazz standards (including "Mack the knife" and "Que reste-t-il de nos amours" for instance..., if I may include something on my wish list) and 40% Brazilian Jazz... Andrea having even improved vocally since 2013, this would be one of the best jazz discs I could imagine!

Absolutely agree with you. I made a similar wish to her father Ramon about a year ago. He explained that DVDs are a lot more expensive to record and commercialise than CDs and that the market has evolved and it's become harder to sell DVDs, particularly in jazz. It seems that today's generation have a much shorter attention span and zap more often after hearing a tune or two. For them KZread/Itunes is a more popular medium to listen. What a pity, I love to see Andrea's concerts on DVD, because she is so photogenic and expressive. You can see the "Andrea Motis Quintet - Que reste-t-il de nos Amours - Duc Des Lombards" - Pascale C. You might notice that Andrea is a bit subdued, though her trumpet solo is classy. She had developed a sore throat that evening and was a bit worried during the break. But the second concert she gave an hour after the first was magnificent, no sign of her sore throat, and she sang as marvellously as always.

During this particular session Andrea looked like she may have had a "dust up" with someone or something and it seemed as if it could've been on her mind. Whatever it was I hope it was nothing serious. A beautiful performance by all (Scott-Stan Getz-Hamilton y Señor Ignasi Terraza El Profesor del Piano.) Muchos gracias y saludos a Maestro Joan Chamorro. ☮&❤

Andrea (Miles) Motis was great. Also liked Ignasi's solo. Great drumming by Esteve.

@F Spike I totally agree from when I first heard her play that Andrea's sound reminded me of Miles Davis.
