All the commenters, please accept: At this level of playing, there is no 'better' or 'worse' in the artists abilities. There is just a 'I like this one more' or 'I like that one less', as it is a matter of taste. Who is entitled to rank this kind of musicians? Let's just enjoy the beauty which is given to us by these incredible people.
Please someone tell Ignasi Terraza how much we enjoy that Bach-type canon and how we hope he will play it again and again whenever Andrea sings this wonderful song. My wife and I listen to this over and over!

I think that the way the intro evolves is the history of music itself. Just amazing.

@@richheart7990 I see what you mean. That is a really good point. I did not know what to think about the transition from Bach into discord and rhythmic complexity and some other attributes I can't exactly describe. Now I realize from your comment that it all makes sense. Thanks very much!

I may not live long enough to meet all these impossibly wonderful musicians, so suffice it to say, you have all blown my mind after a life of watching, waiting, practicing, giving up, starting over and finally leaving it all to the professionals. This may be the best band of consummate musicians on the earth. Praise and thank you so much. God Bless you all. True Love ...
Andrea is a total pro, spotting that tricky intro, improvising some lyrics, and nailing that solo.

She is simply the Joan of Arc of jazz!
The Bach like piano intro by this marvelous blind pianist is absolutely brilliant...Ingnasi Terazza I tip my hat to you. Joan Chamarro has outdone himself with this rendition of one of my favorite jazz pieces...bravo for all you have done to refurbish jazz for this generation and for us old guys who thought perhaps jazz was dying! WRONG! In my 8th decade I have hope for jazz!

this introduction from ignasi terraza is just brilliant
Jesus Christ! Mr. Chamorro, what beauty have you introduced to the world! I came here looking for Lullaby of Birdland. It's on of my favorites and I guess we all know the versions sung by Ella Fitzgerald, wich I thought was one of the very very few valid interpretations. No, I am not going to compare Ella to Andrea now as this would be very unfair for both of them. But let me put it this way: I have seen interpretations of well known international singers, superstars, divas, to wich only two words came to my mind: complete fail. But back to my story. Maybe I got to say in advance I did not know any of you or the Band. Shame on me. So now, that I have been around YT looking for different interpretations than Ella's, I found this. First thing I thought was "wow, there is someone knowing how to play the piano". And while I listened, I recognized a girl on stage holdig a Trumpet. Okay, I thought. One of the musicians brought his daughter on stage to hold his Trumpet because it's too valuable to him to put it on a stand on the ground. And, all of a sudden, the "girl" started to sing... BOY! WAS! I! WRONG!! I literally backfliped over the backrest of my office chair in amazement. What absolute fantastic singing! Andrea might not have the strongest voice B U T she has something much more valuable: an indescribably laid back timing and an absolute feeling for the music and control over her voice. And as I felt my bloodpressure rise, just at the right time before having a heartattac, Scott Hamilton came and put me back to normal again. Do I have to mention Andreas Trumpet playing? May be just this much: out of this world. I really can hear it's not just some well trained muscle moves, but it's pure feeling for what she is doing. She knows when to let go and when to catch it again. Please excuse me for not mentioning all of you namely, bu I am running out of superlatives to describe what I heard and saw. It was great joy to see and hear you all, how you contributed to something that is much much bigger than the sum of its individuals. You all matched perfectly on stage and obvioulsy enjoyed yourselfs very much, at least you smling says so. And you Sir, Mr. Chamorro, made all this possible by bringing these individuals together! Greatly done and thank you very very much.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Andrea developed her chops as part of The San Andreu Jazz Band. Joan is the director. By now, you must have heard of them. They are all very good, some world class--just like the people on this stage! If you haven't checked them out by now....now is your chance!
I love how the other musicians seem to be praying to Ignasi’s piano. It’s heavenly.
I never tire of that piano intro. . .
Brilliant. Beautiful exposition.
This rendition is destined to go down as one of the very best in jazz history. Talent here is overflowing.

Isn't it, though? Very beautiful classy rendition as is Andreas in a different way. Perhaps some do not know the song was composed by a blind English jazz composer, George Shearing to honor the Manhattan jazz club, Birdland. I saw him twice at that famous jazz venue. Andrea will no doubt perform there if she wishes... My own sense: Andrea's talent lies substantially in Communication. I hope you take in her performance here. It was right before she had her baby. It's the great American standard by Oscar Levant. "Blame It On My Youth." I have never heard a more beautiful vocal rendition of Any Song. I was stunned. The subtle improvisations and matchless phrasing she has were all over that performance.

Yes, please, please, please! I live in south texas and would probably go crazy if it were not for you tube and the music I can access like Joan and company, Leonard Cohen, Astor Piazzolla, and the great U. S musicians mostly of the past. I fear Jazz is dying here in the U. S. and is being replaced by the excrement that pretends to be music.
One of the best "bebop" jazz group nowadays, Andrea is wonderful, both as for the voice and the trumpet (and sax) playing, and here we have as a guest Scott Hamilton, a real master sax. The piano assolo of Ignasi Terraza is astonishing with his original starting "fugue" style. The fantastic sound of this group remember me the famous words of Charlie Parker: "It's just music, it's playing clean and looking for the pretty notes".
Scott is a great Sax player of our time.
Ladies and Gentlemen listen to this intro and a Fantastic pianist……his name shuld be on the topp of annonsment….
Please tell Ignasi that this intro is Masterful & Mind Boggling. Speechless !!!
Wow! Brilliant intro! Perfect timing on the intro vocal! This whole piece was magnificent!
I must repeat what I said a couple of months back, what a stupendous intro from Ignasi!
I have seen George Shearing perform this from the second row at the Reggata Bar in Cambridge, MA. with George Shearing! I have also been in the audience when he performed at Andover High School (with George Shearing) and, again, at the Regatta Bar in a solo performance with my wife . All were very good !
Grand bravo !
It really doesn’t get better than this. JS Bach on the keys and the rest of the band just killing it. Joan=Genius!
Excelente,Ignazi Terraza, excelente Andrea Motis!!
Lullaby of Birdland Oh, lullaby by birdland that's what I Always hear, when you sigh, never in my wordland could there be words to reveal in a phrase how I feel Have you ever heard two turtle doves Bill and coo, when they love? That's the kind of magic music we made with our lips When we kiss And there's a weepy old willow He really knows how to cry That's how I'd cry in my pillow If you should tell me farewell and goodbye Lullaby by birdland whisper low Kiss me sweet, and we'll go Flying high in birdland, high in the sky up above All because we're in love Lullaby, Lullaby Have you ever heard two turtle doves Bill and coo when they love? Andrea's voice became more mature and her trumpet sounds more confident since then.
Oh my! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Man, listening again to that it would be great to have everyone have a second solo.... the first more sophisticated and discreet, like this was, and the second more rasping, tortured and rhythmically repetitive. Basically thus was too good to be so short!!
And Scott Hamilton can run on tenor sax an impromptu equal to the Paul Desmond on alto sax.
