Agreed. Martin Taylor and Tommy Emmanuel playing Honeysuckle Rose - same thing. Like a couple kids playing that long slow bend - Django lick. Martin is reserved, Tommy is a spaz. It totally works. Similar vibe here.

This video is some of the hardest proof I've ever seen that music is a language. These two are literally talking back and forth to each other with guitars. If anyone liked this video and hasn't seen Julian Lage live I would highly recommend seeing him. The whole show is so full of this same kind of playful energy between he and the people he is playing with.

First time I saw this, I wasn't really impressed but 5 years later, I think this is probably one of the best spontaneous musical performances I have ever seen. A masterclass in fluidity, subtlety and nuance. I hope maybe 5 years from now, I will be able to play like this by rote and 10-20 years after that, maybe improvise along these lines as well.

Both great players- there's so much hype about Julian lage and he lives up to it, but people don't listen with their ears. This is not a situation where Martin taylor is lucky to be playing with Julian or where either player should be intimidated by the other, Martin Taylor is a monster player but both these guys are playing musically, not just technically and athletically. If you think Martin Taylor is the b side here go and do you research! BOTH awesome players, period!!!

I'm not a guitarist, but I'm damned happy I landed on this channel. I came across Martin, sound-wise- through a record of French music with the late Marcel Azzolla. I'm sure Martin remembers this album. The French "Valse swingue" or "Valse Musette" are a different, but very rich, approach to that rare bird in Jazz- the WALTZ. It's been a joy to discover this young talent, Julian Lage. Thank you for posting.
