pathfinder looks like a boring fat dog and the interior is as BLAND as its beige color. the santa fe looks alot better inside and out IMO

I use to have 10 2017 pathfinders they are great cars I don't care about the CVT in it it's a really good car to buy

Why is Pathfinder the least selling SUV among many popular SUVs out there while Santa Fe is easily the best selling? It's very simple. Santa Fe offers a better value for your money. It's that simple.

True when new, but when you want to sell both cars after 5 years people will go for the Pathfinder for better reliability and build quality than a Hyundai. I assume resale values are better in the Pathfinder too.. correct me if i'm wrong.(NEW MODELS) :) Least selling as for the old models mate, i know a lot of people who are looking to buy new people haulers are more interested in the pathfinder compared to the kluger which WAS a rubbish car to drive although as it was a Toyota it had good reliability and loyal customers. Unless jeep comes out with a new 7 seater grand cherokee the pathfinder will be my family's choice. Things are cheap for a reason, at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

To be honest, I love both crossovers, but I chose the Santa Fe over the Pathfinder. We tested both cars and the feel of the Santa Fe was just more smoother. The different steering modes are pretty cool too, I always keep it in sport. Plus the power on the Santa Fe is just crazy and it is really fun to drive. You really don't need that many features like they mentioned on the pathfinder, which makes it way more pricier than the Santa Fe.

I have a santa fe sport limited i love it i get so many compliments on it from clients and even complete strangers lol

I am the proud owner of a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum. After test driving both the Santa Fe and the Pathfinder (and a 2013 Highlander), I assure you this review is spot on. Just in case anybody thinks I am biased against Hyundai, a week before buying the Pathfinder I bought a 2013 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T, after test driving most of its competition. Of course I am happy...no more new cars for the next 10+ years!--hopefully!

Great review! Wish I could take the Nissan interior with the Hyundai exterior.

Just traded my 2011 sonata for the pathfinder and man how much I notice the sonata had devalued, ridiculous bought brand new 240 and now 2 years piece of junk is only 9.7k BS. So fair warning hyundai buyers.....

I'm a huge fan of Japanese automakers, Lexus being my favorite. However, there is no doubt that Kia and Hyundai are pulling far ahead, and it is evident in this AMAZING looking Santa Fe.

I couldn't agree with you more. you did a right choice. Hyundai facebook is full of negative comments from users.

Price difference negates any usefulness of this review. Santa Fe beats anything of equivalent price. I ended buying a santa fe based on reviews, skeptical at first, but after having driven one, I couldn't believe how much it trumps over rivals.

Hi Matt, There is not much that is a 7 seater and not an suv these days. The only I looked at that fits that category was the peugot 5008. I liked its interior, but it's rare on our roads and future servicing costs was a concern for me. I also looked at several compact SUV (AWD 7 seaters) and my shortlist; hyundai ix35, kia sportage, and nissan dualis. They are all very popular but the ix35, which is a smaller version of the santa fe's is widely regarded by reviewers as market leader. I agree with that. But there is not much between these three, and it's really down to personal preference in looks and comforts.

Since when did the Pathfinder become a Crossover?

Considering I work at a Infiniti dealership and our cvt's are already having issues with less than 1000 miles in our jx35/qx60's with recalls/tsbs. I don't see how that's reliable. lol The pathfinder is the same as the jx's also so I know Nissan's had the problem already.

Yeah I know. Sarcasm is sometimes hard to detect. But seriously, WHY? My last PF was an 05 SE Offroad. Best SUV I have ever owned. Damn thing went anywhere I pointed it.

problems came from cvt transmission especially in electric issues. And over heating for high speed down Nissan .

That's false. The EPA made some modification with their mileage-determining system. Due to this, Hyundai and KIA, like the good company they are, gave giftcards to each of their customers for some of the gas they bought. No, Hyundai/KIA did NOT get sued. The Santa Fe can produce more HP with a smaller engine because it uses GDi technology as well as a turbo system.

Nissan pathfinder. I have one and now almost have 87,000 miles on it.

Santa Fe dash is soft touch and interior looks much better in beige or saddle leather...imo.

I prefer the Santa Fe over the Pathfinder. The Santa Fe just looks like a more complete vehicle while the Pathfinder looks too outdated already. Also, I'm reading Nissans reliability has gone down and down since their merger with Renault while Hyundai's reliability has been getting better and better.

I would never buy either vehicle, but I'd sure go the pathfinder if I had to

I like the old pathfinder look a lot better than this one...those headlights are wayyy too big. It takes more than headlights to make the car look bold.

Both vehicles look beautiful, and I love both car makers, but that red color seriously compliments that Pathfinder. The price, the lack of a panoramic sunroof, and it's name (Pathfinder is supposed to be for trucks) are the only things I don't like about it. Other than that, Nissan has a key Pilot murderer.

Well I work at Nissan and get your facts straight bud. Its not the CVT that's the problem its the torque converter. Not a big deal in the sense that every model is under warranty.

In 2013 - they moved from a truck body to a crossover

Lets put it in perspective, the Santa Fe has been ALWAYS a Crossover with 4WD system, the Pathfinder is a pussyficated version or a great SUV Truck, converted into a not-so-nice Crossover. With that said, starting with the name, Pathfinder is out of place, it doesnt find any path anymore beyond the path to the Mall or Wallmart. So I would take the Santa Fe, since it is a pure Crossover, it looks and feels way better, and it is not a Crossover prettending to be a SUV, like the "MallFinder"

They both are cool, but I think the Hyundai is better.

better learn to love the CVT. Almost 80% of the foreign auto market has bought the right for the use of Nissan's CVT design.

I own both of these vehicles and hands down the Santa Fe's way better but my wife doesn't like me taking her car too much

This was the xl version of the Santa Fe.

Japanese fan all the way ese. most reliable cars I've had have been Japanese

You are full of it. CVT transmission are more reliable than normal transmissions not to mention they're cheaper to repair. Theyre used in Nissan and Honda.

Pathfinder is more refined but certainly doesn't look like it. It's pretty ugly looking but given the experience they've had at building these suv's I think they're much more ahead than Hyundai's. the Santa Fe does look much nicer.

No don't insult my intelligence.An enthusiast like you wouldn't understand why they put CVT's on their economic cars. Its not unreliable when NISSAN and HONDA are using it in their economic cars which are very reliable companies that make great cars, by the way. Its a wider range of simultaneous gears for a wider power band while getting better mpg than a normal transmission. CVT's are not for performance or racing. They are in passenger cars which get you from point A to point B.

I think you're the only one I've seen who doesn't like the Santa Fe.

I think the Santa Fe is MUCH nicer looking than the Nissan both inside and out. I've driven both and I can say that the Hyundai also rides better, has superior performance also a smoother transmission. I wonder just how much the two boy reviewers were paid by Nissan? Pathfinder Is way to expensive. Rarely you sit adults on the 3rd road, birdseeye view? You can move your head over the neck and see what is around you! the only thing I am going to give Nissan is the much better awd system witch is almost pointless since this vehicles are driven on public roads.

This is one of the worst reviews I have seen. I don't think these 2 guys knows too much about cars. I drove a pathfinder and the smaller Santa Fe 2.0T with less HP than the 7 passenger one. And still it is way more responsive than the Nissan. I agree with one thing. The interior does appear to be quality but thats it. The Pathfinder is a slow lazy coach compared to the Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe is much nicer to me in person. The Pathfinder looks like a fat sluggish soccer mom van. It does not look like a 2013 car in my eyes.

I like beige interior, but that Pathfinder is ridiculous. Looks awash in French vanilla ice cream. Both of you obviously already made up your minds you were going to favor that old looking Pathfinder over the Santa Fe.

Actually Nissan is way better than Hyundai.I know that Hyundai is cheaper than Nissan,but I choose Nissan because it's aircon is much way better than other car brands & Nissan does not eat much gas.If I were you choose Nissan it's life span is much longer & it is safer than Hyundai.
