I LOVE my 11 Rav 4WD Limited with a V6. It has every available option on the 11. I absolutely LOVE it. It only has 102K original pampered miles. 21 mpg city and 26mpg freeway. It’s an amazing 4WD. I will keep it until I hit 250-300K miles. It’s an Awesome little SUV.

This was a particularly very accurate, level-headed review. I have a 2012 RAV4 V6 myself and everything he said is absolutely true about this particular generation of RAV4. Finding a V6 Rav4 nowadays is very hard to find. Add the Limited trim and V6 options is even harder. Add 4WD, still harder. One with low miles? almost a unicorn now. I lucked out couple years ago and found a 2012 Limited V6 4WD with all the options plus the ultra rare factory remote start. But it had 65K miles when I got it. Still a great find though. Oh and mine came with the 18" wheels. This reviewer is correct in that 17" wheels are standard on the Limited. The dealer who sold mine new installed the 18" wheels as an option.

You have an AWESOME SUV Salsaman! It blows me away how something as popular as a Rav4 with something so singular in the market as a V6 in a smaller SUV somehow flew under everyone's radar, but that's exactly what happened. Enjoy having the only one in town and enjoy the sky-high resale value compared to what you paid for it when you are done. That, my friends, is a great find!

@@everycarSeattle Thanks Joe. I wish I had been more aware of how awesome these things were back in 2012. I would have bought one new. And can you believe these things can tow 3500 lbs? Well mine can because I have the tow package. My Chevy S10 with V6 and body-on-frame construction can only handle 1500 lbs. And have you driven one with 4WD? Amazingly surefooted compared to the 2WD model. This RAV has become my 2nd most favorite vehicle I have ever owned. (My #1 was a Lexus LS430 with Ultra Luxury package. That thing was awesome on a whole different level)

@@oscarbrieva5362 By today's standards, No. For 2012, its gets typical mileage for a V6 SUV. about 25-26 straight highway driving and about 19 around town. But I am heavy footed because this thing just wants to go. If I babied it I would prob get above 20 around town. The weird thing is that the 4cyl model only got 1 more mpg than the V6. If you want some really accurate mileage data on any car - go to fuelly.com. The data is comprised of actual owners' data. Just make sure you select the correct engine type.

I wish I wasn't so far away on the opposite coast. My wife has the very same RAV4 with the ash interior. You're right on the money with the V-6 engine-even loaded with 5 people and luggage the engine doesn't work hard at all. I'm on the fence with buying a used Highlander or just buying another V-6 Rav4. Highlander is nice but not as nimble as the Rav4 for my liking. Thank You

Don't know why Toyota didn't change the swing side door until later models. Such a disadvantage when parked in between cars , would of made more sense if could open the glass up and take gate down, like the chevy blazer.

5-speed automatic, naturally aspirated. I own one with 4WD. These things are stupid fast. 269 hp double overhead cam with intelligent variable valve timing (VVTi). Forged Crank and rods, 6 bolt mains, all aluminum block w/ iron cylinder liners, 24 valves, roller rockers, sequential port fuel injection. Known as the "2GR-FE" series. Here's a link with more info: engineswork.com/engines/toyota-engine/2gr-fe-engine.html This engine was used in several Toyota models and is considered one of their best V6s. Lotus even installed it in two of their models. There were some issues with an external oil supply pipe and also cam gear for the VVTi on early RAV4 V6 models. Issues are easily corrected but if you stick with a 2012 RAV4 you won't have to worry about these issues. oh yeah, runs on 87 octane or higher.

    3 жыл бұрын

@@javansterling6027 No it is not a necessary fix. Your transmission will perform just fine as is. The one thing you DO want to do is change the transmission fluid and filter. Just do a drain and refill. Do NOT do a flush. And replace with the FACTORY "WS" type fluid - not some "universal" fluid that claims to be "WS" compatible.I would replace at 75K miles or sooner if you've done a lot of towing.

Thanks for the review. I am looking at the 2019s and it seems like all the car makers are going to V4 or V4 with Turbo - not my first choice. 2012 was the last year Toyota offered the V6 in this car. I have a 1999 Avalon, the V6 3.0 Engine with 215K miles and weighing 300 lbs less. Except for a small oil leak from the Cam Seals, this car is still running strong. But I would have settled for the 3.0 in the Rav 4. That would have been a great combination. For me, the newer Rav4 models are too tight up front and the Highlander is too big (overall). I do not need a family car. The newer Honda Passport cost the same as a Pilot and I am not super thrilled about it. Mazda had the middle of the sizes MX-7, but those are hard to find too. Sigh... what is a tall guy to do.
