2010 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS: Regular Car Reviews

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Stef's Mitsubishi Lancer GTS was terrifying around a track because it felt like a regular car about to have a regular crash.

Shahaab Sherwani It's technically true since a lot of Chrysler's engines in the 80's and 90's were taken from Mitsubishi cars. Body styles too.

I always did find the the companies American automakers partnered with to be very appropriate: Ford and Mazda (the B-Series really did look like it could be a FERD) Chevy and Isuzu (ditto for the LUV and CHEVY) and Chrysler and Mitsubishi....

DrClaw77 the B series was a ranger lmao, Isuzu really didn't have a choice GM just rebadged Chevys instead of making new models, Diamond Star Motors came out of the Chrysler-Mitsubishi partnership

802 Garage I’m that guy 😂 my ex still bitches about me constantly and it’s been over a year. I’ve also owned 2 lancers. My original 2011 GT has the 4B12 that I turboed and lowered and now I have a 2008 GTS with the 4B11 (i also turboed and lowered it) both cars being white and having the Ralliart hood and bumper along with the Evo X wing making them indistinguishable from each other

Tyler Koenigs depends on your mileage cause I have a fully built AMS set up in my car and basically built my car into an Evo X (awd system pulled from a wrecked Evo X GSR cause mine is manual) it takes a lot of money to properly build a turbo set up and have a decent exhaust to handle the pressure from the exhaust gas

I always tell people about the PT Cruiser episode of RCR for how it throws in a masterful contrast of modern from postmodern, and ever since watching that, I've worried that I should have been more studious myself. I believe Mr. Regular completed graduate where I just gave up on the stress of being a mediocre student, accepted a BA and have let the rigors of acceptable-paying 9-5's palmjob me through the end of my 20's, but the admission in this video was comforting. Stay in there, whether you keep going like Mr. Regular or just kind of peace out and relax as I did. You're going to turn out ok

"Mitsubishi, the Chrysler of Japan." That got a good laugh out of me. My mom (who's Japanese) told me that in Japan people don't like Mitsubishi cars and she cites a major scandal where Mitsubishi failed to recall a bunch of defective vehicles and deliberately tried to cover up any and all faults. This case would lead to the arrest of the president and many high-level executives of the company.

I have one, i think vaping is stupid (mostly because there's no way in hell's frigid asshole that stuff doesn't introduce noxious chemicals in your system. AND vaporization is one of the fast lanes for any shit to get in you. Back to the car, i think it's a great long distance commute, but only with better shocks than stock, and certainly with good grippy tires rather than the (European) standards that come on these (can't even be bothered to remember what those were, but they were very bad. Spun out in rain because of them, i haven't unintentionally spun in a car since i was 18).

I loved my '10 Lancer GTS when it was my daily driver. It was the first car I owned that didn't complain angrily when it hit 100 mph, and accelerated surprisingly well and efficiently once it hit 60 mph. Beware hitting any uneven track going faster than 90 mph, however, as the car will want to launch itself into orbit.

Why do these cars get such bad press? A good friend of mine has a Lancer 2.4L-2.5L??? with a manual trans and it is a hoot to throw around back roads and parking lots. When the rest of the group are building big single B5S4's, supercharged M3's or playing with liter bikes here is our friend. With his Lancer. Unashamedly content, honest and squeezing the most out of a fun honest to goodness car. When the rest of us are trying to hunt down wiring issues or boost leaks its the Lancer that we take for the 1 am run for Korean bbq and beer. The lancer has a special place in my heart for a reason. Its unashamed of what it is.

Never drove an FWD just a wee bit hard? You get on the gas to go straight, and let off to bring the ass-end around on a tight corner. No loose gravel or potholes on the track to send you veering to your doom and flipping like street racers and not much else to do because it's auto. I think that's why she was giving you a hard time with that one.

I have a 2010 Lancer GTS Sportback in "rally red". I like it a lot. Most dependable car I've ever owned. After nine years I haven't had it in the shop for anything other than regular maintenance. The paint is holding up OK, the interior looks almost as good as when it was new. Its nice to have a simple car that just runs without drama. Plus it looks good for its age. It was probably the nicest looking compact in 2010 and its holding up really well now. It doesn't look like a ten year old car. Yeah, I'm totally happy with my purchase and plan on keeping it a couple more years. You notice the mileage in this video? Close to 150K and the car still looks good. That's the way they are.

Driving a slow car... ok, an average commuter, on average tires and average power, but driving it fast, is as thrilling and exciting, as driving a super car. Because you can use almost ALL of the power, all the time, so you're able to push the car to its limits on every corner, and you're doing it. This is the beauty of true driving joy.

good tires are worthwile no matter what but yes. i took my stock 98 rav4 convertible to track day and it was a blast. that was the last day i drove that poor thing but it did great for 200k mi. i couldnt have driven it any harder. then i bought an RSX and took it autocrossing within 2 weeks on dry rotten tires and got it on 3 wheels while almost spinning out. at auto-x it looked like the regular cars were having the most fun pushing as hard as possible, me included, whereas the porsches had to use control, we got to basically floor it. and i think it's good for building skill because you can spend more time at the vehicles limit and learn what is too much and how to correct it. track day was fun but after autocross it's clear auto-x is safer and more practical and almost as much if not more fun in other ways. track day was too much abuse for an old motor but autocross is only maybe 10 minutes of racing per event. hard to do much damage in a 50 second run. but 15 minutes at full throttle 3-5k can kill an old yota.

You mentioned the Dodge Colt. My dad drove a Colt to and from work for 18 years. Original engine, had to have 2 transmissions-his was the 4 speed manual. He never got over 60mph and consistently got 45 mpg. The second transmission died when the Colt rolled over to 380k miles. Couldn’t find another transmission and we had to park the Colt forever. It’s amazing how nobody really mentions that car, but barely into this video it’s brought up. Thanks for another great video!

You ought to time her for a lap, and then yourself. I have a 2012 GT and there's a place where it feels like it's slipping, but as she said, that's when you hit it, and it's almost amazing how doing that flattens it out and suddenly you wonder why you were so wimpy to treat it's cornering like an ordinary car. Sure, the Evo is much better, but the GT/GTS still has some of that bloodline.

I've noticed that some non-performance models of stereotypically sporty cars have better handling than manufacturers let on, such as the Lancer and Impreza as long as you know what you're doing and you know the car well. I started out being super cautious in my Impreza because a) it was/is my first car and b) it wasn't anything more than a commuter vehicle at the time. Since then, I've gotten used to it and I know what its limitations are and what I can and can't do with it. A lot of people are surprised when I take them for a ride in it because they aren't prepared for it to be thrashed around without crashing. Even with tiny 205s it is lot more capable than it looks. I wouldn't imagine the Lancer to be much different. As long as you don't try to drive it like an STI, you'll be fine.

Don't, for one second, believe there is someone on KZread making better content than you, Mr. Regular. They aren't. I watch your videos because they're pure entertainment but when you slap me on my face with your heartfelt reflections, I get goosebumps. It's Entertainment Plus.
