    One more thing... If your going 6-10 mph, you don't use 1st gear. It's gonna kick up or not go in gear because 1st is primarily designed to used coming from a stop. NOT in motion. If the car is rolling at that speed, blip the throttle and throw it into 2nd. Even if you lug your engine a little bit, it's better than using first which is more damaging to any manual transmission car. So remember, never use 1st while car is moving, only from a stop going into 2nd.

    Nice video. Pretty much hit the nail on the head with everything. I have a 2010 GTS Sportback manual. Bought it used for a great price in 2014 with 50k miles on it. I needed a daily driver while I worked on my other car. I wasn't expecting much out of it, but it is an incredibly fun and practical car. I also have a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 and 2020 WRX, but the GTS is my workhorse. Now it has 126k miles on it and shows no signs of letting up. The clutch master cylinder (which is a plastic piece of junk) went out a few months ago, so I replaced that, the slave cylinder, flywheel, and installed an ACT clutch. Also did a complete fluid flush, new rear main seal, new front axles, new spark plugs, and a new accessory belt. I absolutely love how easy it is to work on this car. Doing the clutch swap in my driveway on jack stands was tedious, but not hard at all. Also got some new tires installed and after everything, it feels like a brand new car again. Only mods I have are an Injen intake, eBay axle-back exhaust, and stereo. Next up will probably be a new water pump and timing chain to keep her in tip-top shape.

    Huntsteven6 Okay I owned a 2005 Ralliart(btw best car I ever owned) and I had the same issue. This isn't a fault with the car your Synchros can't keep up, you need to let your revs fall more before trying to upshift. Btw I only ever had this problem really when trying to shift from 2nd to 5th which would come close to redline, very fast would grind. if I let my revs fall a bit even like 5k preferably 4-4.5k RPMs there would be no grinding. This can happen on any manual trans, if the synchros weren't designed to keep up.

    Good video. I agree 100% about the transmission. Mine feels so loose and reverse is such a bitch to get into sometimes. I've got the 3rd gear grind when cold too. I switched to Redline MTL fluid (Gl-3) and it's much smoother in hot weather. No issues with engaging reverse since I switched. I'm planning on getting a BC Evo X cam shaft and throwing it along with a tune from the boys in Puerto Rico. With the RPM limit raised to 8k you can squeeze a lot more top end out of the engine. I'll update after I've completed it.

    Can definitely mod them in many areas. Those manual transmission quirks remind me of my buddies Mk7 GTI manual. I'm in need of a daily driver for work I came across a blue 08 GTS Auto 145k miles for 3,800. Not paying more than 3k though. Had paddleshifters before in a C6 A6 3.2 mad fun for a daily. Auto might be the way to go for dailys given they aren't known for transmission issues either. Going to check it out tonight. Reply to this comment to find out if I bought it then I'll give feedback ✌️

    PROD. MCMXCIX since the engine is the 4B12, it will he harder than the 2.0L NA, and will cost you a couple thousand. I also chose nos over a turbo because I figured that nos only outs stress on my engine when I want it to whereas a turbo will continuously stress stress your engine. If money wasn’t a factor then maybe I would consider it on very low boost, however I still would recommend buying an already turbo’d car.

    I just bought a 2013 Lancer. In Australia, it's called the VRX. Exactly the same as the GTS. If you know how to trail brake, and heel&toe, you don't need an evo or ralliart. If you can drive, it's going to be fun. If a young kid needs an evo with a million horsepower, then clearly they don't know how to manipulate a motor vehicle to its full potential. Spend the money on some advanced driving techniques and you don't need to spend a fortune on power and handling to try and fool others into thinking you can drive.

    Hey man. Just saw your video. Very tasteful might I add. I will say that you've done a lot of exterior work to it. Lots of little odds and ends. Perhaps a few Evo inspired add ons? It would be awesome if the side and hood vents we're functional. The grill looks awesome by the way. Could do away with those vortex generators though hmmmm? I'd like to say that for all that money you've sank into it, you could of got a entry level body kit or some sweet rims. Some tint at least I completely respect your build and understand it's your car at the end of the day. Totally cool with everything. (Especially that aftermarket radio unit) all in all I think it was a neat video. So sorry if I'm beating you up to much. I guess I'm just over critical of fellow lancer owners. Love it. Yep they are wrong.. I feel like if it ain't got a Turbo, manual and or rwd then people will spread hate. They are only weekend car guys.. They're not the kind of "enthusiast" that I enjoy talking with. There are truly only a handful of people who look beyond performance and aesthetics, we are the ones who are simply amazed by the natures of automotive engineering. Knowing that sparks flew and hands of hardworking individuals, assembled what was once raw earth material that have been carved, stamped and painted to create millions of our for granted automobiles. And knowing it was once the heartbeat of our northern industry here and how crippling it was to almost lose it. It opened my eyes and I now see what everyone shits on in a new way. Written deeper than history and black and white pictures.

    I have to respectfully disagree. I think one of the most worst things you can do to your car is plastidip ANYTHING. With cheap investments comes cheap results. If you really wanna change the look of your car, save money and pony up on buying new rims all together. Not only will it enhance the car overall but you won't be the laughing stock of your friends. Hell, even if it's cheap rims! Some new rims are better than "dipped" rims. Over time if not done correctly, it will fade and eventually chip making your rims look even more horrible than before. So again.... If we are talking about rims, just outright buy new ones and sell your old ones. Your Lancer will most definitely thank you.

  • @Huntsteven6

    @Huntsteven6

    3 жыл бұрын

    Do not buy the cvt. Ever. You will be 100x happier learning manual in and driving the manual GTS. The cvt is garbage, putting the driver experience aside and how much fun a manual GTS is, the CVT is awful. in terms of driveability, whne you accelerate hard off the line, it will rev up to 5000 rpm and HOLD that until you get up to the speed you want. Even with the "paddle shifters" it feels like a slug. There are no gears right, so the paddles merely just slightly change the pulley ratios to simulate gears. In terms of performance, you cannot add power to the cvt because it will overheat, snap the belt, or explode. I could write a whole journal on why you should not get the cvt gts and opt for the manual

  • @Huntsteven6

    @Huntsteven6

    3 жыл бұрын

    Make sure that you explain to them the benefits of the manual compared to the CVT. Heck, even show them this: CVT will overheat after prolonged use, CVT will eventually undergo belt slip, CVT is twice as costly to repair, CVT will not support power modifications because it will overheat and explode, CVT makes your car sound like a rice grinder, CVT is the worst transmission ever made because it was so poorly implemented in the lancer, CVT cars are very unpredictable when buying used because they can go out at a moments notice. Manual lancer do not have any of these problems. While they are not forged, they do support more power, you can directly tell the health of it via feeling how the synchros are, and clutch pedal engage height, The resell value is better because no one wants the cvts due to their crappy design and driver feel, and i could go on, i hope this helps a bit
