2008 Volvo V70 3.2 SE - A Rare Treat in the UK
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Most V70s on these shores are D5-powered. Don't get me wrong, they are fantastic engines and make a huge amount of sense in a Swedish brick. But I'm never one for the most sensible option, take a look and see what I think of this superb slice of Sweden when it's correctly fuelled!

Great Video. I have a 2012 XC70 3.2 . I live in Oregon and absolutely love it. Its super utilitarian and great for long road trips, or a quick drive to the coast or getting to my favorite fishing holes. The diesel variant is not available here. I only paid $9k U.S two years ago with 104k on the Odometer.

Hey, another XC70 guy! I have a 2010 T6 model as my one and only vehicle. I call it the Rally Wagon. 😎 Honestly it’s perhaps among the all-time best stock-performance vehicles on gravel roads and snow and dirt. Unless you need more than the ~8.5” of ground clearance, nothing can beat it. Either creep along at safe speeds with incredible poise and control, or fly along and drift the gravel like a full-blown rally racer and the monster XC70 just loves it, it flatters the driver with its loads of grip and extremely capable suspension/chassis setup. Not to mention the T6 will match or beat anything that isn’t a dedicated sports car in a road race, and is also safer in a crash than almost anything on the road, and these things are THE BEST.
I have the S80 3.2 - one of the best cars I've owned....

The shelf in the boot is to stop your shopping sliding around in the big boot other wise when you arrive home you have a boot full of empty shopping bags. Our self important snotty Volvo garage said while talking down their nose that you will never get one of those in the UK. So I Purchased a wonderful rust free 3.2 petrol AWD from japan. Perfect condition. I spent 1500 pounds and converted it to LPG. Fantastic mileage and 55p a litre. I will never go back to diesel and never not have LPG. On the turning circle thing. Its fab well after driving 4x4 pickups. I have changed the spark plugs to Bosch iridium. Thats so easy to do. replaced the break booster (if you sit in the car with the engine on and there is a slight hissing, which goes when you press on the break really hard at idle its on its way out). Then changed all the fluids at 75k. The transmission is soooooo, much better with a 3 changes of fluids. I thought it was just fine until that was done. While you are at it change the front gear, haldex and re diff fluids. Great car. I just wish the transmission would keep up with the engine, its a bit slow on hills and forgets when to change. Great car. I dont like the electronic handbrake you can not beat the old pull the handle affair as it can be used as a diff lock in bad conditions like snowy weather. Oh and Led those headlights.
Your facial expression at 3.07 said it all...pure heaven, nothing more to say! Thanks for a genuine video without the egotistical 'Me, Me, Me' approach so prevalent in many presentations today.
I’m from europe and we own a 3.2 XC70 that currently has 395k km and the engine is still in great condition

Have you had transmission oil changes? When? Thanks!
Love it. It's so funny that I know the roads you're driving on :) keep up the amazing work, Luke
Best V70 review yet. I'm on my 5th Volvo Estate and have the last V70 sold in the US, 2010 R-Design 3.2 You are correct about the 3.2 being a great engine. I purchased this car w/185k miles on it last year and it runs beautifully. Mine isn't so well equipped as your demo but has what I need. I did add the folding mirrors. Primarily a dog hauler but I do enjoy driving it immensely and it does look the bomb.

Hello! Have you had any gearbox issues? Have you changed transmission oil? Thanks!
I have one of these. Great car, loads of space, and quick when you need it.
A great video. I have fond memories of my old 2007 Volvo S40 petrol. A very understated car but drove like a Focus!
Hi loved the video, on my 3rd Volvo now just recently picked up a 2.4 D5 XC70 what a awesome car it’s just ticks all the boxes in what I want from a car😊😊
That was a great review!
What an amazing car

The boot divider has hooks for holding grocery bags or any bag in general, plus keeping things from shifting around while driving
that yellow stripe is for your shopping bags etc for not to moving around in the trunk, love that thing
Thank you! Makes me want to buy one right now! Very rare in Brazil, though... But, if there is a will, there is a way :-)
I have the same one but with 2.5 FT 🥳 My wife and children lives it.
The lift up in the boot is where you put your muddy wellies. Saves getting the carpet muddy.
Guess I own one of the other few still around in Europe. Great engine. Great car. 230.000 Km and going great. Ciao.
I also love my 2010 XC70
Here in Oz this engine is common but only in the XC series and S80. About 50/50 with the diesel version.
Why buying a new car when you can have one of such a great vehicle? So glade having one.
Put LED in the parkbulb and the ditch :) Makes them 10x nicer and a wing :P
The thing that flips up in the boot is a luggage divider to stop stuff moving about in the boot of it’s not full.

or to keep your mutts in the back from moving forward.
I have xc70 with 3.2 and would not switch it for anything else in this class! Its quiet, strong and reliable. Ok maybe T6 its more fun to drive but def not a diesel.
Anybody ever have a weird grinding noise from the right passenger side ish? Only happens when I let off the accelerator or turn right. Almost like transmission grinding.
I know that 3.2 has 238 hp,but it is naturally aspirated...does it have enough power to move v70/s80 when you need fast surpass ?? Does this engine feel sluggish ?

I own an S80 3.2. It is silky smooth and very torquey. You barely need to put your foot down to pass someone on the motorway, it’s brilliant. I’d much rather a naturally aspirated 6 than a turbo 4. Highly recommend this engine.
I have one of the other rare 3.2 V70s in the UK, the tax is now 615 but its worth it

@lvpvsmalvm522 it's way more then £615 now it's well over £700 and has the dreaded R.E.A.D unit issue, these engines design flaw unfortunately. So far I've had £3700 to £5k repair bill. Can't bring myself to spend that sort of money on an old car so I've replaced it with a Mk4 mondeo estate diesel

@@interceptor-ss8kb I have only 59k miles on mine. What caused the issue and is there a way to prevent it?

@lvpvsmalvm522 It started out of the blue I heard a deep rattling at 89k from the back of the engine, took it to my local volvo dealership who were pretty clueless on the engine in fact first one they had seen, initially thought it was the timing chain. I did some online research found nothing from UK pages as the engine was a flop in this market, but in the USA there is loads of information and alot of failers its at the back of the engine. Engine out job, then you have to rebuild them with new parts. They need special tools to get them apart. If I knew about it I wouldn't have bought it as its a terrible design. I couldn't even give you the advice of regular services as mine was serviced every 7k the oil was changed.

@@interceptor-ss8kb do you know what caused the issue, rust or something like that?
They had to do something about the bulbs front and rear in this vehicle. I own a V70 2003 P2 T5 and the bulb changing is one of the worst in the world. Brill car but the centre console is like a Saab. I thought the P2 console was much nicer.
3.2l Engine is a beaty. They should have put that thing into the T6 2018 XC90.
