Very nice review!I would like to see more reviews of used older Volvo's on your channel.I personally like these older Volvo's a lot because of exactly that what you said, the amazing ride comfort. They are so smooth and comfortable on longer road trips. These 2.4d engines are very strong and very reliable engines. Me personally a few months ago I test drove a Volvo V70 D5 with 325.000km's on the clock and it drove like it had just come out of the factory. The interior materials might not be as premium as the Germans of that age but as far as quality and longlivety is concerned Volvo is the best car in its class. For me it is Volvo for life!

My mom’s C30 has aged really well. She has owned it for 5years now and it looks like new. Love the design language for Volvo. Owned a 01 V70 and a 06 V50, never driven more comfy cars.

Volvo did have a "sport" version... it was called the V70R. Either way, thanks for the video.. i'm actually looking at one of these to buy, just trying to watch as many videos on it as possible.

Dont know sport? check out the 850 touring cars... They made a sister brand, Polestar which is all about sport, who tune these. T5 range are used by Police as nothing beats them..... They know sport but unlike BMW who cant do sport and comfort, Volvo, can. The D5 purrs like a V6 and power is the same as my P2 T4 petrol turbo but with good mpg. Enjoy your hard M4.

Man, I don't know what to say, will keep the words... But you just couldn't open the armrest...Ok, can happen 😀 That was the thing to show! So nice table/organizer. And drivers armrest becams another nice leak safe table for rear passengers. It's good to check the car before reviewing.

I would call this car "understated elegance" not "simple." I feel you are talking down the quality level of the car. Even the current Volvos are clean and understated. But a new design comes in 2022 and the current Volvos will be the older design then. I don't know, maybe to you this car seems "old." But to me, this is one generation back and old Volvos are from the 90s and earlier, lol. It's older to me, but not old. A 10 years old, 15 years old car isn't old to me. And by the way, the dash on my 2002 Volvo s80 had very soft padded materials on the dash and upper part of the console. They went with a harder dash on the 2007 s80, which this car is based off of, for some reason. The hard plastics on my car are lower on the console. But my car did have plastic wood which was later changed to genuine wood on later models. Anyway, I'm very familiar with this Volvo model and I think it's a classy car but last generation Volvo. You say Volvo wasn't aware of "sport" in the past. What about the 850R of the 90s. And if you go back to the 1960s, what about the p1800? Volvo is not bringing back bigger engines. At least that's what they continue to say. The next very smooth engine in a Volvo will be electric. I personally think their decision to go with all-4 for their class of cars hurts their appeal to some customers. For some customers, a 4 will not do and they shop elsewhere.

V90 is not the replacement, thats a sporty upgrade, the V60 is the replacement, being more boxy and roughly same size.

I drive 2005 P2 D5 SE in pale Gold, Geartronic, I much prefer the rear end on the earlier model, this car was designed under Ford ownership, I saw a 9 year old version of this car (2009) and the interior was very badly worn, the leather was totally shot, whereas my P2 has almost perfect looking leather seats, despite being 4 years older !! the dash on my earlier P2 is deeply padded, not the cheap harder plastic as fitted on this Ford owned version ! The interior of my SE car is far superior to this Ford version !! admittedly my D5 has done only 73,500 miles (118 km) with a full service history, great car, looks like a 5 year old car, sadly, will be looking to sell it very soon. You say that Volvo had no sporting heritage !! I don't agree, what about the V70 T5 R even police forces bought them by the bucket load, as motorway cars, because they were so quick for the time !! the earlier 850 estate was entered into the British Touring Championship event for several years and did extremely well :-)

Design is always debatable as its so personal. I have owned both a 2004 V70, a 2005 S60 and now a 2011 S80 (Same interior as V70) with my wife in a 2010 V60. I will defend the wear and tear comments as it all depends on how a car has been looked after. I'm actually finding that my later Volvo's are wearing better then the earlier ones. I bet the 2009 car you were looking at had far more many miles on than your current one so it wouldn't be a fair comparison. There are plenty of P2 models showing worn seats, peeling A-Pillar trims, etc My 2011 one now has 154, 000 miles on and shows barely any wear except the gear knob and is a far more modern and refreshing place to be rather than the earlier ones. Don't get me wrong, I love my 2005 S60R and its interior but it always feels dated after the newer design. Also, your 2005 was built under FORD ownership too. The plastics on the later ones are just as good as the earlier ones, just not quite so expansive as the earlier design but somehow 'sound' much worse on this video for some reason...my dash doesn't sound like that, lol

Yes of course how a car is treated is important, but while you are correct in saying my 2005 model was built under Ford ownership, it was the last V70 designed before Ford took control in 1999, the P2 was released in Spring 2000, so all the design work had already been done and development was almost at an end, the P3 released 2007/8 was the first V70 to be designed, developed under total control of Ford from the start ! But I do agree with many things you have said :-) and the last generation model with the latest face lift looks fantastic ! (post Ford) probably the best looking V70 from the front end at least ! just don't like the rear end at all, prefer the P2 design.

No that car is the Mk 3 version (2008-onward) they made four versions, the later made and designed under Ford ownership, hence the cheaper interior.

colinf1951 there’s a newer version with a revised interior where they fitted an infotainment system and changed the exterior slightly with a big Volvo logo and new lights both at front and back. I owned that car so I know what I’m talking about.

Ha ha, we are splitting hairs here lol, when you said in your original statement that this was an "old V70 and not even a face lift model" suggested to me that you were referring to the original P2 released in 2000 - 2007 then came the 3rd gen face lift 2008-2014 I think it was, then in 2014 came the final face lift, which is my favourite certainly as far as the front end is concerned !! so my point was that when you said this car was not even a face lift one points you back to the original version, because the first face lift was 2007/8 version (3rd gen), as in this video !! lol. Hope that clears up the misunderstanding :-)
