    Hello! The screws that hold the disk in place are broken off on both sides of the car. I can take the rotor off but the new one won’t stay in place without the screws. Do you know what I should do?

  • @InsaneOil

    @InsaneOil

    I don't believe the screws are necessary as the wheel and lug nuts will hold everything in place once everything is back together.

    It is always recommended to remove and either resurface or replace the rotor when changing out the pads.

    There are lots of videos about this particualr modle of Elantra, there is one on 1aauto channel but this video is for people who have never done this job before. All the other videos assume people have some knowledge. Just wanna add try to wear some protective gloves for protectign your skin and some heavy gloves to protect your hands. Also watch 1aauto's video as they show some other cleaning tricks.

    Good vid, only thing he forgot was the caliper pins. It's always a good idea to pull those pins out and lube them if they need it. At the very least they should be checked for mobility. If they are stiff and hard to pull out, they need to be cleaned and lubed.

    @@InsaneOil I realize now that my comment was redundant, but it is always worth mentioning. Just did my fronts today. As usual, 1 side went smoothly, but the other side didn't. I snapped both caliper pin bolts and had to replace them, as well as both pins. Fortunately, it only set me back 10 bucks at Autozone, but it's still aggravating that it happened. I also needed to rent a breaker bar for those 17mm bolts, but the job is done.

    Mounting bracket bolts are typically in there really tight… Even worse, if it is rusty and corroded… Possibly use a breaker bar or impact gun
